Jett's comment on the podium was just a little fun...he wasn't being a douche like some think.
He had the overall wrapped up and nothing to gain by fighting Roczen off.
Roczen would have gotten 2nd overall even if Jett didn’t let him win……. Correct? 3-2 for Roczen beats 2-3 for Sexton. I don’t think the move was for points.
You must have missed that chit eating grin on his face after he took his helmet off.
When a guy who just went 22-0, won both titles he contested, pulls over and waves you bye.................

Jett literally says in the post race conference that Kenny was catching him.
I can’t wrap my head around letting him win bc of the new baby
Jeez, it was for the POINTS (he thought), the baby part he just threw in there.
and if we want to take this even further, this could be seen as a fun jab against Ken’s tweet this summer about Jett..
Re read my post just a touch slower. Ken was working in new lines the first 5-6 laps while jett was taking the main line. Jett would pull a little gap from the finish line to the first roller because of 2 lines in particular killing Ken's momentum. By the time they got to the downhill Ken was getting back on his ass. Your trying to use the lap times to justify a distance gap on a fast track that has very little seperation. A 2 second gap is jett just getting on the breaks to hit the wall as Ken's jumping the first roller. Again I haven't watched it on TV yet to see what it looks like there. But live at the track Ken had him covered all day long. Ken was going to pass him, I don't think Jett wanted to battle this time and risk chase catching up.
I’ll go by what the stopwatch says. From lap 5 to 8 the gap fluctuated between 2-2.5 seconds. Jett's slowest lap prior to lap 9 was a 1:53.6 on lap 4, then he momentarily goes above 1:52 for the next four laps. Then all of a sudden he turns a 1:54.3 on the lap when Ken passed him?
BTW except for that single 1:52.9 Ken turned 1:53’s the whole race so he didn’t suddenly get faster.
What’s more plausible - Jett inexplicably drops anchor with four laps to go; or he deliberately lets Ken past due his (flawed) read on the overall positions?
I suggest you watch the replay and take note of the times. For 4-5 laps prior to the one when he let Ken by, the gap remained consistently at 2-2.5 secs. Ken’s lap times never varied, and suddenly Jett slows to a 1:54?
I think Moto Memes put it best. “Was it a gift? Or the most calculated soul snatching ever!?!”
You gotta be in it
To win it
Stop with the reality Bro. The vitards are just going to justify no matter what.
I thought Jett was just keeping Kenny close because he could. Toying with him as he executed his plan.
Watching it right now and I'm telling you the lap times do not paint the full picture of what went on last night. An so far the only thing the broadcast isn't showing is the slow lines ken was working in. They also don't show Ken being on jetts ass when their showing The AP Dylan battle for 2 laps. You can actually see ken on is clise to jett on the drone came up in the distance going uphill as ap is hitting the wall. You missed alot of the battle watching Pless, Dylan, Webb, Nicholas and then chase for 3-4 laps. There was no point in that entire race Jett had any breathing room from Ken. Again at no point in that entire race did jett have any real breathing room from Ken. Ken would lose 3-4 seconds in 2 turns then make it up the rest of the lap.
The one outside he was taking he would almost come to a stop and have to lug out of it for the first 4 laps. Eventually Ken was going to pass him or move him out of the way. The lap before jet pulled up Ken finally started taking all the main lines and that was it for jett.
Just finished watching it I suggest you rewatch it. 2.5 sec is Ken leaving the take off of the finish line as jetts landing it.
Also did a track walk in Chicago. That's was a awesome track and I wish they ran a futures race today. Even in the rain were having that track would be fun to ride.
I find this post predictable another typical vital meltdown trying to make nothing. Way more into something it isn't.
Pit Row
Just catching up, was the thought that Kenny needed the win to get second in the event from Chase?
I immediately flashed back to JS7 letting Reed pass at unidilla, only to repass Reed.
Guess Kenny didn't like his gift much did he
Is this activeride guy shuffling shims for the whole hep team or just for Kenny?
Pretty lame Jett
I could be way off and I guess we will never know, but it feels like a massive level of arrogance on Jett's part. There was no reason for him to let him pass and I am now rooting for him to get smoked next week. It was hugely disrespectful to Kenny. There is a fine line between confidence and arrogance and the latter will get him in trouble.
I hope Kenny punts him off the track next weekend and then on the podium says "I wanted to return your gift, so here you go".
Thats because he didnt. His reasoning was that he thought letting ken win would put more points between him and chase. He thought wrong and that wasnt the case but thats what he thought was gonna happen. Then in his mind he thought that if helping himself also gets ken a win after his kid was born even better. If he hadnt thought that ken winning helps him vs chase he doesnt let ken by, so it really has nothing to do with the baby. That was just a further positive he thought would come of the situation. In the end it didnt work out the way he thought and he came across as a dick.. so next time just finish the damn race like your supposed to.
Yeah, it wasn’t bike problems he had, his problem was in addition. That was a classic example of a home schooled motocrosser doing math in his head while on the track. It took me 10 seconds to figure out a 3-2 beats a 2-3….and that giving away a 1-1 was not a wise maneuver to put more points between him and Chase. At least Kenny just had a baby and it made Jett look like a nice guy…but Kenny doesn’t seem like someone who is in need of money. Instead of giving him an extra $25,000+ he should’ve just bought Kenny a stroller.
A professional athlete, just went 22 wins straight, many with pressure just behind, and you think he just couldn’t handle it all of the sudden? Ok.
Made him look like a nice guy? These guys are world class athletes who see themselves as the best in the world. Going “heres a gift of first place, but Im going to wave you buy on national tv showing everybody Im way faster than you and you can only win if I blatently pull over and let you by” is not being nice to Ken as far as hes concerned. If you see his instagram post after you can see hes pissed. If chase was out front and then slowed down and waved jett by in order to put more points on ken would jett be happy about it? Absolutely not. Again these guys are the best in the world and one of the most disrespectful things you can do is make them look slow.
Not a good move by Jet. For a lot of reasons
You know for sure they talked strategy with his team between the motos. Priority 1, get the win. Bonus if Ken pulls 2nd for the night. Pretty sure he pulled Ken far enough ahead of Chase to feel comfortable. Letting Ken pass changed nothing in the standings but was a bad ass psych move on Ken. You are "no threat to me". This was a humiliation move on Ken and will piss the shit out of him all week. He had to stand up there and acknowledge Jett just "let" him win. Took all the focus off how well he rode. It's a gamble whether it'll cause motivation or distraction of focus for next week. When we saw it last night, I originally said he did it to eliminate possibility of an aggressive pass that may put him down but realistically I think he let Ken get close.
