Hate reading these announcements, but it hits harder when it happens to a local pro who you regularly see ripping at your local track. He crashed at a practice track outside Salt Lake and had to have surgery on his back after losing sensation in his legs.
Killian was cracking the top 10 in the west 250 mains this year.

It’s something we’d gladly do without. Friendly Swiss driver Killian Auberson fell heavily while training on a Supercross track near Salt Lake City. Ranked on the West Coast of the SX US 250 with a top 10 at Anaheim 2 as the best result this season, Killian was preparing for the championship final when the accident happened. Evacuated by helicopter and immediately operated on for a vertebral fracture, Killian's injury is serious given the absence of sensation in his legs when he arrived at the hospital. Already helped by Road 2 Recovery, we hope to have good news in the coming days, which will be decisive for the future. The whole editorial staff of LBU crosses their fingers very strongly. We think of him as well as his wife Morgane and his relatives. Courage.

The nursing staff authorized Morgana to see Killian. She was able to send him your many messages of support. He was not very talkative but he answered questions and listened a lot.
Killian had got into a 5 hours surgery to stabilize the affected vertebrae. The specialist does not exclude the chances that Killian's sensations returns. We will have to fight and the road ahead will be long but nothing is impossible with his will and perseverance.

When I got hurt there was 3 of us all within 2 months that suffered SCI from dirt bikes.
But I wonder about the to level pros. I mean, even 40 years ago, there was plenty of print media where this sort of thing would have been reported. A hot foreign prospect making his debut on a respected and established team (Brian Moreau)...that would have been reported even in the 80s. Or Jessy Nelson...MXA would've covered that had it happened to a top racer like that back then. Jimmy Button. Ernesto. Pit Beirer. Joel Roelants, Seems like at the top professional level, 2000-2020 has been worse than 1980-2000. I don't know, I didn't run the numbers or anything.
I'm not disputing you MAVERICK, I'm just illustrating a perception which I find difficult to shake.
Either way my thoughts and prayers go out to Killian.
With that said, I hope he gets mobility and sensation back. Hard work can pay off!
Any idea how he's going? There's not much out there especially in English
