Something about the SMX formula definitely worked, good racing this past weekend. I expected it to be alright because it's more racing to watch, but it really was good.

If industry people are complaining, they need to get the fuck off their high horse and listen to the people paying to watch it.

Also, like some I have mentioned the slightly shorter Motos will definitely help the massive amount of people worldwide who are attention span challenged.

The only acceptable way to have 20+2 Outdoors, would be to add a third moto.  I could live with that. Two moto format would have to remain 30+2.

Would be nice if Someone with more spare time than he and some analytical skills would look into how many passes from the top ten guys in the last 5-10 minutes of each moto for the last 5-10 years. I could be way off base but im guessing it’s very few. The best part of every moto is the first 5-10 minutes when everyone is charging and trying to make things happen. The top guys are all fit, the final 10 minutes just is used to fill airtime and to keep all the old guys happy that they still race 30 minutes

Well for those who can remember all the way back to the early days of the sport,

The original GP's, Nationals, and Trans AMA races were 45min.x2.

The 250 support class was the same format.

We've also had 3 20min motos in the past as well.

Outdoors are just right at 30min ×2.

Real SX is a different animal altogether.

20min main's seem to be the best formula.

(Not a fan of the triple crown)

Two 20's worked well Saturday.

That type of track didn't need as much repair as a true SX track would need between motos.

I'd like to see 3 short, sprint races.  12 minutes plus 1 lap would be enjoyable IMO.

You're probably right from a pure excitement stand point, and most likely for a casual fan just tuning in.

The extra length to allow some tactics and forward thinking and fitness and whatnot is well worth the extra 8 minutes though, I enjoyed the WSX rounds I watched but it felt seriously stunted to me time wise.

It's like watching a dude get KTFO in 10 seconds Vs a few good rounds showcasing solid technique.

One of the attributes of Motocross racing was the physical side of the sport. Short races detract from an athlete who is willing to train and condition not only his body, but his mind as well. As an old fart, I would bet most of the races Bob Hannah won, he came from the back. Recall Blake Baggett's half moto charge to front back in his day. Today, Tomac's signature beast mode is done later in the moto. 45 minute motos were for iron men (And quite often machines, as they tended to break more often back then).

I was under the impression Super Cross was molded to appease the not real fan, but the convenience spectator. Short, sweet, lots of spills and thrills. Minimal spectator discomfort and lots of want to be on the in crowd types there.

So be it if this sport needs to appease the current fans by having shorter races. Look what all the play off formats have done for NASCAR and NHRA. Both sports are folding up as fast they rocketed to the forefront.

They should stick to 2 moto format for supercross as well. 20 mins+2 laps though.

I kinda like the "winner take all" format of SX and the separate 30+2 for MX

I’ve been hoping for the past 5 years that the Triple crown races would adopt a 20+1, 2 moto format for both classes, with a support race somewhere in the middle and an LCQ to start the night show…so I’m happy as a clam with the SMX format. That being said, I still want SX to have The Main Event, and MX to be 30+2. But above all else, I just love all the racing we’re getting, with a purse that makes everybody care about the position they finish in.

There have been countless last 5-10 minute moto charges for the win in the 30+2 format that wouldn't happen if it was 20 minutes. Now with SX, I think its different. The way the tracks are, it doesn't really support longer than 20 min. They just get absolutely cooked with the traditional heat format. I just like two motos over heat and main.

I would support 20 minute x2 for SX.

250's could do 15x2.
