Nope, he also wouldn't let me send him the bike details (vin etc) for him to order the part, and then let me bring the bike in once the part was there. He stated I'd have to make two trips, but gave me the option to leave the bike there if I wanted.
I don't mind taking my bike there as final proof when I pick up the part, but I would prefer not to make 2-3 trips and/or leave the bike there.
my local dealer ran the serial number on both of my bikes. They both needed to be replaced so i made an appointment to get them fixed. I dropped them off for an hour and they were done. suzukiofcarolstream.com is my closest dealer and they did a good job.
Moto bike/setting is dialed, off-road bike/setting is super dialed. These ‘24’s are going to need to be incredible for me to switch.
Do the 23s still need the exhaust mount beefed up or was that addressed? What brand makes a good durable chain guide? I know PC and TM designs are the more high end ones. Also for those who replaced steering bearings, did you go OEM or does someone make a better after market replacement? Sorry for the questions but I am hopefully capitalizing on the amazing rebates going on later today

I'm loving my 22 so far. (Besides the clutch, but I haven't tried bleeding it yet)
I like my suspension a little on the soft side so I'm still happy with the forks, sudden impacts I'll blow through the stroke but it's so damn smooth through the chop that I'm hesitant to go stiffer like everyone says to. Have about 3-4 hours on it so far.
If you are staying with oem you can get away not beefing it up, but it’s really cheap(cost me $60) for them to beef them up. Worst case is it snaps and you have them weld the tab back on and beef it up at that time. Still not a big deal.
Chain guide isn’t a big deal. I get the Acerbis guide and slider for $75 and it last a long time.
steering bearings oem but if you properly grease the bike before riding the ones that come on the bike will last a very long time. They just have basically no grease from factory. People just don’t grease bikes and the grease jobs the factories do should be a crime.

I think I'll pick up a bottle of fork oil as well. I remember when this thread first started years ago and heard the outer chamber comes with barely any fork oil. Racetech site recommends 370cc which is about what I was running in my CRF with the same style forks. Definitely going to pick up a throttle tube! Stock tube and grip will be going in the trash. Haha.
So people are only breaking the subframes with aftermarket pipes?
I’m sure people have broke the tab with stock Muffler but it’s a lot more likely if you go aftermarket. The oem muffler has rubber built into the tab design and aftermarket doesn’t so it metal on metal.
I have had a 19, 21 and now 23SR. Both 19 and 21's had over 70 hours with out any issues with the stock pipe, mount or chain guide. Whatever Kawasaki changed on this generation completely fixed the chain guide issues. Both my 15 and 17 guides wore out within 10 hours and I always used the TM Designs guide. I have over 20 hours on my SR and the guide still looks perfect and I never replaced the stock one on the 19 and 21 bikes. Unless you just like the looks, I would run stock because the plastic ones are really loud until they wear in.

I've been reading this thread for years and finally rode one earlier this year and loved it. Kawi rebates are off the hook right now.
Where do I access the service manual? I got the basic owners manual at the dealer which is decent, but isn't there a more detailed service manual? Kawi website shows one for 96 bucks but it's out of stock. And rocky mountain isn't showing one
Exhaust mount may need to be beefed up for solid mufflers: However, I have 100+ hours on two different year KX450's (20'/21') running PC slip-ons (rubber mounted design) with no problems. Moose Racing MR-1 chain guide is what I run, as the fitment is good and the lower block is easily replaceable. Stocker can get bent up / twisted in deep ruts for certain riders; the Moose design has held up much better. Good idea to buy a Moose chain roller too to quiet up the unsealed upper. I've done both OEM and Moose replacements on the steering stem bearings, both work well but Moose kit is around half the cost and uses different style seals. You'll probably get 50+ hours out of the stock bearings with a proper pre-ride grease job though.
Congrats on the buy! BTW, 450SR comes with 346ml's in the forks to the KX450's 310ml's; may not need that full 370ml's but more is definitely the right direction. Cheers
Thanks! 310cc is not much oil. I'll probably ride a few times to break it in then do a service. I know my way around these forks quite well after having them for six years on my Honda. I found that Moose chain guide on eBay for $66. Bit cheaper than the TM designs for $109. Definitely going to grease the steering and linkage up good just like I do with every new bike I bring home. This is my first E-Start bike. I ride almost every weekend so I'm not too worried but do you keep them on a battery tender or do you not have to if you ride enough?
I ride every weekend as well and only use my battery tender for winter storage. Never had a problem.
I've tried the Acerbis guide and the TM designs, I can get 25 hours before the chain is almost hitting the mount on the swing arm with the TM. Acerbis doesn't last as long, but it's cheaper.
Found a killer deal on a 23kx450sr and pulled the trigger.

This is my 5th kx450 toss in a 17 Honda and a 14 Suzuki and a 21 yz450.
Since I had a 19 and have an idea of what it did or did not do well for me.
I had a ton of ti bolts, xtrigs, Tokyo mods Ecu remap, etc done
Really I would just repeat the Keefer review but the big guy portion.
I am 6’4” and and not at my best riding weight.
Even at break in it cornered much better than my 19.
zero of that darn surge even Tokyo modes or my vortex could cure.
I set the bars and levers and don’t drop the pegs.
instantly comfortable.
DT1 prep was really good and there are some good sized jumps and ruts.
I have some more things coming I like to do.

3 OTHG races at DT1 in October so I am really looking forward to lining up with this bike.
This bike so freaking good. Rode Saturday and today. Already put 2.1 hrs on her, haven't even set my sag because I was having so much fun and just wanted to ride. Everytime I get ready to hit a rough section I'm prepared to be bucked around and have the bike deflect like my Honda would, but this chassis just soaks everything up. This frame is like riding on clouds! I tried so hard to like the 21-24 Hondas but I couldn't do it. It's almost like they weren't finished and were rushed through or something. I definitely made the right choice. I LOVE THIS BIKE!
Glad you like it man, I certainly love mine! I was at Elsinore too yesterday. I would've said hi had I known a vital member was there, especially a fellow KX rider!
This was actually today. Rode LACR Saturday, took yesterday off. I guess dirtbikes are cool again because it was freaking packed. Reminded me of the early 2000's Elsinore
