He still looks modern to me when he rides. His style and grace on a bike are a thing of beauty which has only been matched by a few. The music is a little cheesy but watching Baily ride never gets old.

That montage is part of a video (VHS) Gary Bailey made and sold, after Davids injury to help raise money.I think they were offered at the supercrosses that year for 10.00. I dont have the video anymore, just the empty box. But I use to watch the video all the time for a few of the clips of him riding. He was super smooth, Ive said this since the first time I ever watched Dungy ride, but, Ryan Dungys syle reminds my of Baileys style alot.

He is a style cat for sure. Watching those videos he looks kind of invincible and flawless just shows it can really happen at anytime to anyone.

He is one of the all time greats thats for sure. He and Gary were way ahead of the game and there style is still today something that riders try to copy. Look at any kid that has spent time at Garys school and if they are serious about learning the right way to rid a bike you will see that unmistakable Baily style.
My son got his first dirt bike three years ago and less then a month after getting it he was at Garys school. Today when we look at pictures of him they all have the Baily style.

David was and is still my hero. My dad and I attended Gary's school last spring, what a great honor to meet that man. By the way the class was the best thing I've done in terms of furthering my mx skills

Bailey was my hero from the first time I saw him in a magazine. He just had the coolest style, gear, bike, etc. And it is almost like he was one with that bike, he just flowed and MADE it look easy. I remember his dad saying that when David would come around the track he would look slower than some Joe Blow flying by. He looked slower because he was so smooth, but he would be flying by the guys who looked faster.

I think you have it mixed up. Stefan Everts is the second version of Bailey! Personally, I dont think everts is really "smooth". He can ride a bike well, but his style isn't close to DB's. Just my opinion.

Back in the mid 80's, I could have been David's twin(a little younger though). I always tried to emulate David's ultra smooth style. Thanks for the post/thread.
