Whats wrong with my bike listings

Economy and inflation are hitting used autos and bikes.... Lots of big rebates left over 23s is putting more used bikes on market all at once.

Grab an SOS pad and some WD40 and put some elbow grease into cleaning that 250F header pipe!

And while probably not a reason for the lack of interest, the throttle cable on the 250 is also routed incorrectly. It should be routed like this:

Your pricing is what should be considered fair, however do a search on marketplace for a tc85 or fc250. There’s probably 15-20 within a few hours of you the same condition/hours/price. The only way to sell it is to drop a grand below the others. Which sucks yes, but that’s where the used market is now. I feel your pain, I’m going to have a 22 fc350 with 53 hours for sale soon and I’m not looking forward to it. 

Your asking way too much for each of those bikes.

if they were priced right, they would sell. That’s simple.

for reference on the 85. There was a brand new 2023 husky 85 for sale at Loretta’s at a dealer tent for $4800 total. I thought about buying it, but kid wants a ktm or gas gas.

prices are way down on bikes, and continuing to drop. Be lucky to get $3k for that 85, and $5k for the 250f.

I May list my older kids 2022 husky fc250, only has 8 hours total. I’d be lucky if I got $5500.

The red ape hanger bars on the 250f should be swapped out for stock or stock-ish looking bars; those scream 'stay away from me'

Like trav mentioned; clean off the header, take some WD-40 and a scotch brite to polish or clean the brake pedal, and then re-paint the clutch cover (it's $5 and takes ten minutes, it will pay dividends).

OP the economy is a bit of a bitch right now and August is an awful time to sell bikes; the fast kids are coming back from Loretta's and it's simply too hot for a lot of the country to be riding right now (Ask me how I know).  i have a bike that i've fully re-built that I won't even post until tax return season. It's just a bad time to try and sell right now.

My son is on 85's.  We have 2 21's and a 23' TC85 sitting in our garage.  Unfortunately that price is really unrealistic in our area.  I would list the 21' for probably $3800 and hope to get $3500 for it.  The other problem you have going is everyone who made a run at Loretta's is now dumping all their race bikes and flooding the market.  Good luck with  everything. 

These guys are pretty accurate. Make the bike as clean as possible. As close to stock as possible, new tires are always good too. Lots of pictures helps as well. GLWS 👍. The markets savage right now. 

Well done on your photos; the framing looks good in that you don't cut off the tires or the grips, and are not taken in full-sun with lots of shadows or the bike not sitting on the stand correctly. 

I'd choose my 'cover' photo carefully, usually a right side picture, which I don't think is the case for your TC85. 

You might choose the left side on the FC250 till you get the header cleaned and the throttle cable fixed. Good feedback from others on price.

In Utah, I've noticed bike don't sell as good in August/September as in March-May. Try posting on the Utah Motocross Classifieds on FB. Your 250 price looks solid for this area, not sure about the 85 market.

“PRICE IS FIRM”-  My first impression when I see this in an ad is that the seller is an asshole and I wouldn’t buy your bike for any reason..

That’s a two way street there bud. You know know who are assholes? Lowballers. Why should people have to post an item for sale $500 over what they really want? By putting firm you’re just saying this is what I want for my stuff I have for sale don’t bother making me a lower offer. It doesn’t mean you’re necessarily an asshole. Do you go to Walmart and make them an offer? No, the price is the price. You want it you pay it. You don’t, you shop around. 

I thank everyone for their offer- I’ve had low ballers come back at reasonable prices and end up buying what I am selling..

Anytime someone lists “price is firm” I don’t bother contacting them…and the OP is wondering why he can’t sell his crap..

Sure they do.. how much depends on the market and timing. 

The first picture on your listing is the ' Thumbnail ' pic and needs to be the best picture of the whole bike. Seems minor but it will get you more clicks

If you think the prices are low now wait until November. They will get a lot worse if you are somewhere that gets a real winter.

I am not sure on the 85 pricing, but I traded in a 2023 FC250 with 30 hours on it 6 weeks ago instead of selling it because I wasn't sure I could even get $6500 for it and that was 2 years newer and 40 less hours than yours. Last year that might have been a $6500 bike but not now. If the ad didn't say firm on price you might have had people throwing you offers and some of them would have been really low but you probably would have gotten one reasonable one that you didn't like because it was $5k. When I see ads where I think the price is pretty far above market (even if it doesn't say price is firm), I don't respond at all because I know I would be wasting my time.
