If Decoster really wants to give team US the best possible chance, he should give Sexton a leave pass to stay on the Honda one extra week.

I think the Lawrence's would have a comment on that idea.

I can’t see why it would worry either Lawrence at all?

I believe he finishes at Honda just the week before MXdN. Remember the date was changed.

It's all very weird.

Originally, the SMX series ending event was scheduled for 14th October ( my numbers might be a little 'out', I'm going from my Bearbrain memory), and the MXDN was set for around 27th of October .

But, when the SMX final was moved to the 23rd of September, the MXDN was moved to earlier in October ( 6th through the 8th), to avoid the " they've made it over a month later to get an advantage" crap that would have been thrown around . Date changes were made in February, I think.

I would have thought Sexton ( and others) would have had contracts that went to at least the end of the SMX's 3 events Original dates.

So, Honda / Sexton changed the contracts end to an earlier date?

All very head scratching for an Old Bear.

Yeah obviously I don’t know for sure, but I can only assume Sexton’s Honda deal ends with the last SMX playoff. Traditionally new contracts begin 0ct 1 don’t they?

  October 1 ?

Buggered if I know, and I doubt most here really know riders contract end dates.

So : The original date for the 2023 SMX final was for October 14th 2023.

So, one would assume riders under contract (that was not already in place for the next - 2024 + - year) would have had a contract ending after that date.

The date was moved forward / earlier, sometime in Jan / Feb this year. Due to some sort of  scheduling conflict - maybe the use of the Coliseum, or one of the drag strips?

I'd really given thought to going to the SMX final, being as it's at the Coliseum, with all of it's SX history , but a work contract I have in Thailand, put paid to that. Plus, Oct 14th is 'She Who Must Be Obeyeds" birthday, and it's one of the  Big ones.  She'll be much happier in a (bloody fancy) Beach House the company puts us up in, instead of going to a Motorcycle race.

I guess (some) contracts were set to whatever date the SMX playoffs were over and done with? Though, it seems a bit 'fluid', to me.

I thought you were saying there’s plenty of money around for MXdN and no-one is struggling to make it there?

Pulp said that Honda would provide him a bike for mxdn if he wanted to race it.

It would just come down to ktm and Rodger and sexton. Sexton might want that time to get the ktm good for sx.

For the 5000th time Justin Cooper can't go. Doubt Sexton will go either

Not true, Justin Cooper CHOOSES NOT to go, big difference. Who plans a wedding when his country needs him?
