I posted earlier on a deposit on a Beta and about Sherco, dealer sold both. They also sold Kayo. I’m not a Chinese fan in the least. I retired from a large industrial tech company, Chi Coms stole our IP every chance they could. I think they are a large threat to the US long term/down the road. With that said, they seem to have stepped up their game with many products. Especially motor sports.
I see a fair number dealers in the Houston metroplex sell Kayo. KTM dealer down the road from me sells them, see them advertised.
I’d never paid any attention to Kayo or any other Chi Com brand before until yesterday. Out of curiosity I picked the shop owners brain on the line Kayos he had. One of the Enduro models had billet triple clams, KYB front and rear. May be lower end KYB, but still KYB. Kenda tires and brakes which I don’t have a clue If any good but looked it. Welds on the frame looked good, I grew up in my dads welding shop. Had breakaway levers, fit and finish as much as I hate to admit looked good. I have no idea of mill spec of steel for frame etc. I’d guess engine is a Honda knockoff with carb, both electric start and kickstart. I think MSRP was about 5k. They had a air cooled 250 that looked like a knock off of a CRF250F. The EFI 250 didn’t have the same upgrades as the Carb version. I’d guess them all to be to be under powered compared to Jap or Austrian bikes. But are half the price. Dealer said parts were not an issue and were reliable, if not he wouldn’t sell them. He said the Chinese had to step up there game based, were not reliable at one time. He said not the case now.
The shop owner said when he has a demo he was going to race an enduro on one. He said one of his good customers bought one just to have around based on price. Said he took it out and ran it in over 40 enduro class and won his class on it.
Like I said the Chi Com stuff is not for me but I wouldn’t blame a guy for throwing money at one if that’s what he wanted/could afford. I don’t know for a fact, but I guess there is a part or two on my Honda CRF250R that’s made in China.
Its a different world we live in now.
Thanks Billy
Fuck China.
Bet you use a lot of things built or made there 🤣
like 90% of things lol.
I bet my opinion still doesn’t change.

It won’t be long the Chi Coms will have reverse engineered just about every technology known to man. They have copied Honda small engines down to a fine art. I think Honda quit producing small engines. Good chance most generators sold on the Texas coast which is probably the largest generator market in the US due to Hurricane came from Harbor freight. I have a Troybuilt generator from Home Depot. I haven’t looked but if I did I bet it’s made in China too.
I bet the device you responded to this thread with was made in China!
The joke went clear over your head.
Kove 250 MX . Claimed to be on par with the mainstream brands in power and weight . Haven't seen any reviews on it yet . Price is in the 5000s I believe .
I haven’t looked into it much. But I remember seeing a pic of a Chinese mx bike and it looked like a knock off KTM? Did they buy a ktm and build one around that bike?
I think the Kayos do have older KTM plastic .
The GPX bikes look just like 17-18 Huskies. Probably because they're made with stolen IP/reverse engineering, like everything else China produces.
So would you rather not have any of those things?
The Honda patent ran out years ago on their small engines like the Z50 and CT 70, 90 etc. Anyone can copy it.
Their stuff is overflowing in American homes, businesses, and personal day to day carry alongs. I have looked at a few of the China brand bikes in the last couple years, and their quality is light years where it was a decade ago. With our normal brand off road bikes steadily increasing prices, folks are looking at a cheaper alternative. I rode a GPX Moto 250 air cooled 4st about a year ago a friend bought, and I was honestly damn impressed at it's build quality. I have looked at a Kayo up close, and a Lifan dual sport at a grocery store a guy rode up on about 6 months ago, and it reminded me of a late 90's, early 00 built Japanese bike. The Lifan was a Honda clone engine, and the guy said what sold him was the 2 year unlimited warranty, and their ever growing dealer network......not to mention, the price. Some folks just can't spare 6 to 10 grand on a toy like others can, so for less than 3500, they go play cheaper than we do. World is changing fast.....
Everyone: “why can’t we have a cheap way to get into moto”
china: “here you go”
Everyone: “fuck that stuff it’s cheap”
…
I would rather my 2 year old not have to live her adult life in a world with China as the world superpower, because we’ve been addicted to their cheaply made garbage since 1972. But that’s just me.
Booo hooo hooo. If that’s how you feel stop using anything they make otherwise get off your soap box.
It’s unfortunately impossible not to, but I do go out of my way not to buy Chinese made items whenever I can. If you knew how truly bad the CCP is and their intentions towards us and the globe as a whole, you would do the same as well. I can assure you it’s much worse than the media lets off.
Pit Row
People used to laugh at Japanese made products, in some products today they're considered to benchmark others are compared to. Chinese stuff will continue to improve, not thrilled by it but it's a changing world.
Sounds like it's time for Chinese Takeout Part 2.
Is there much of anything that isn't partly built or made in China, Mexico or some other country? That is affordable for the average Joe?
I've been seeing the nockoff trail 70s buzzing around here this summer
You guys are like 15 years behind the Chinese taking over as the global superpower… it’s already happened around the world and there is no going back. They already are throughout south and central america and Canada. If you are remotely curious just look up the “belt and road initiative” online and be shocked at what they have accomplished right under our noses … and then reflect on the current presidents remarks where he stated
“China is going to eat our lunch? Come on, man. They can’t even figure out how to deal with the fact that they have this great division between the China Sea and the mountains in the east, I mean in the west. They can’t figure out how they are going to deal with the corruption that exists within the system. I mean, you know, they’re not bad folks, folks. But guess what, they’re not competition for us.”
I've got the start of a ping factory replica . I hope he thanks me when I finish it
Now , that was funny ATKpilot99 !
It went way over my head, ya got me on that one. I claim old age.
I 100% agree with you, but its our political class and wall street banksters that sold us out. That's what MAGA is all about, eradicating them.
The irony is that as the dollar continue to lose purchasing power, we will out of necessity have to start building most of what we consume again. China knows that and it's why they are aggressively building out other markets. There is a great American renaissance coming, but those that don't have the right assets in the transition, gold/farmland/lead will lose everything.
They need us as much as we need them.
Laugh out fucking loud if you believe that 🤣🤣. Both sides are just as in bed with Wall Street/ bankers etc.
Where the Chi Coms will make a splash into MX/off road motor sports is EV’s. It’s going to be real easy for them to clone a Stark Varg as example. They have the battery and mechanical part. All they are waiting for is market horizon. Once there is a market true market for higher performing two wheel EV’s its game on for the Chi Coms. The go green, woke generation will care less if a high performance two wheel EV comes from China or an alien planet set on using the human race as a food source. High performing electric dirt bikes at near half the price of a Stark Varg will sell, people will buy them like they got good sense. Same for ATV’ and UTV’s.
Post a reply to: Won’t buy one, don’t want one, Chinese stuff getting better Kayo may not be junk
