F@#k politics

If you are at the track and someone needs a part or help that you could provide...do you consider their politics?  Especially if it's a kid of someone that you know is a polar opposite of yourself?

It probably happens but in my experience...moto folks are generous to a fault.  A couple of weeks ago at our local Chicken Licks I witnessed someone loaning the rear wheel assy off their bike to a stranger and then reinstalling it on their bike for their moto and doing it again for the 2nd Motos.

I know the politics of both camps and they would NEVER see eye to eye on ANYTHING political but it didn't matter one iota.  They both love moto and couldn't imagine not helping each other out.

That's not dissimilar to this place.  We all believe what we believe but the shared love of our common interest trump's the bullshit.

I just say this because I know for a fact that if anyone here showed up at my door needing help...I'd break my back trying to help.  I might be disappointed if I was the one asking for help...but I doubt it.  Even if they shouted "liberal fucktard" and slammed the door in my face...I'd still help 'em if they asked cause hopefully that's a teachable moment.

I'm really hot trying to repair my car after my dumbass tried driving 22 miles of Colorado mountain road.  Blown left strut, ruptured coolant tank, cracked a/c high pressure tube, cracked exhaust flex connector,  and more as I get into it.  Sorry for the rantBlush

Back home in Kansas.  That little Mazda is a trooper.  Cruise set at 89 mph most of the way.  Averaged 64 mph from Victorville CA to my place in bumfuck KS.  If you've ever traveled x-country...that is a really good avg mph.

Across the Mojave at 110+ degrees is no fun.  My wife finally understood what "swamp ass" feels like.  She is not impressed.

I agree with you...I am perfectly capable of disagreeing with someone's politics (even if it gets heated sometimes) and still being their friend and helping them.  I assume most of us here are the same?  It just doesn't translate well to the board...

My brother and sister-in-law are raging liberals...but we hang out, have fun, take care of each other...politics comes up, and we get heated sometimes but that ends the second the conversation ends.  My neighbor, raging liberal...we agree to disagree (I don't get as heated with my neighbor as I would with my brother), poke fun at each other over our politics (Me to him: "Hey bleeding heart liberal, how many homeless people you have living with you these days?  None? Oh, odd...so you just want other people to pay for homeless people?" Him to me: "Hey conservative, if your house starts on fire, do you have enough buckets to put it out, since I know you won't be calling the socialist fire department to put it out for you"...all in good fun both ways...we find a way to be friends despite our political differences).

Lol...I just got back from taking the wife out to Cali to visit her family.  They lean left (or so they think).  They would have gladly let me open up with my SKS on the huge homeless community that is turning the town into a cesspit.

They wouldn't watch or participate but they damn sure wouldn't complain.

Doesn't matter...bless their pointed little heads.Silly

I'd hang out at the track with anyone here. Even the ones who I disagree with the most. I'm sure we'd have a great time too. Of course they'd give me shit about being slowest guy there, and my whole day is less than 10 laps. As far as helping people. I don't think people understand until later in life how much better your own soul feels when you get to help others

Damn straight.  I already possess almost everything I desire (new tools, cars, bikes are exempt).

If you're lucky there's a point in yer life that giving or helping others is yer greatest pleasure.

If I can feel this way living on retirement peanuts...I can't fathom the mega rich always wanting more.  Pelosi, Trump, Musk, etc.  How much is efucking nuff?  Especially when you're so close to a grave box. What are they gonna do with all that wealth at 70 or 80 years old.  I guess they can go look at the Titanic.Dizzy

All I heard was Beer.

Funny, got downvoted.

Even funnier?

My puter geek friend, shown me a way to see who downvotes through the Chrome page source.

Society would be a much healthier place without narcissistic media tycoons that set out to divide us with sensationalised, provocative rhetoric and false narratives for their own personal greed and satisfaction.

Those that know me know that I don’t give a flying f’ck about this stuff when I’m out riding or racing.

In here, I see a fairly interesting divide and a definite “us-n-them” situation when it comes to politics…and it doesn’t bother me. I get a kick outta the political arguments based on feelings and completely devoid of actual history or reality; so, I play along and have a good laugh. I do know that, contrary to what some seem to believe, there is a difference in the two political parties that currently reside in the swamp.

As for how some slide down the slope of name calling and implications of moral superiority and the like? That stuff also gives me a good laugh.

I think that’s what’s truly lost in translation, the actual history of all of these is political situations, is what’s really funny…to me. But, beyond all that…

I hope the Plowmeister has fixed his rig and is back on the road with the a/c blowing cold.

@PB.....You're spot on with most everything you said. A few of my really friends are the exact polar opposite when it comes to politics. Some are even on here. I've always used the 1 - 99 rule.

99% of what we do hanging all day has nothing to do with politics. About are little political jabs , that come both ways , we both laugh , take a swig of beer and carry on with what we were doing. What's weird is , I never even followed politics until about 8 years ago. Most all my friends would say the same thing.

I hear ya.  I'm just one of those odd birds that believes the govt's job is to make sure every citizen gets a fair shake.  Not more...not less...just fair.

I like my guns but I think it's pretty obvious that's there's some folks that shouldn't have them.  I don't know what metric they'd use to determine who can/can't but something needs to be done.

I don't hate rich people...I wish I was one.  But, it can't be denied that some of those folks use their wealth in ways that ain't good for the country.  "Doing the right thing" means what's right for "them".  Not what I thought it meant.

Anyhow...I'm hip deep in alligators with this car...but luckily I enjoy wrenchin' on stuff so it's all good.  Later Bud.Wink

They definitely could get worse , but I might head the other way. I kinda see both sides at one point just kinda getting over it. Like everyone has already made their stance clear , and it gets tiresome repeating it year after year. Maybe I'm just speaking for myself,  but I see it happening to a lot of different people I know. I mean , we have to stand up for what we believe in , but how many times does the same thing need to be said over and over and over. I never really say that much about all this crap any more. Just been focusing on other things in life which are more enjoyable.

I would agree politics was simply a difference of opinion until January 6th. Now, it’s evident that a poison needs to be eradicated, and then we can disagree politically afterwards.

Just had to do it didn't you?

Did you mean: politics is all bullshit unless I have something to say?

When I saw this thread I thought of it as a litmus test to see if we could all just chill out and pass the peace pipe around.

Sadly I'm not surprised at TD.

Yet I would still loan him a bike part or whatever .

It's not so much what people believe that determines how long I can hang with them. It's how/whether they incessantly "preach" their beliefs. Kind of like a recovering alcoholic fresh from an AA meeting. Even so I'll have the courtesy to not drink a beer in their presence, the constant preaching how everyone who drinks a beer is an alcoholic. It just wears you down. If I want to hang with someone, I selfishly hope that being together is better than being alone. And typically the conversation changes so often that I don't even care if politics come up because I can have a good laugh and we move on. BUT THE PREACHING 🤯
