People are too busy this time of year. We are all riding our own championships, our own events, and if we’re not racing, there’s lots going on away from Moto.

Aside from this, Portsmouth club cancelled their race meeting this weekend due to lack of entries. Times are hard financially in the UK at the minute.

That's weak 😑

Should have gone but I had an R34 Skyline getting dropped off at work late afternoon and now watching the Motocross with dinner 😂

That ends of the stadiums not in use , admittedly looks low numbers still though on a brighter note this broadcast is good and looks like they’ve took a lot on board from last year , track looks good 👍

I’m watching it on YouTube but now I’m wondering if I am watching the right event. Looks pretty small attendance to me, especially when you factor in the closed off areas. That should have packed everyone together pretty tight.

Not sure why this got down-votes, it’s largely correct.

A series with a weakened field in a stadium that’s out of town where ticket prices were high wasnt going to go well for a big crowd. It’s compounded by the fact it’s mid-season for everyone into mx bikes here and budgets are squeezed pretty tight for most people. MX is largely on its knees this side of the pond sadly.

He didn't say no one wants to watch the nationals.

He said every rider wants to race WSX.

Wsx is trying destroy mx nationals, Reed even said it they’re not competing with sx but will be going after mx for the riders and teams. They want the factory teams to race USA sx in the winter then switch over and race global sx in the summer .

Yes in the sense that not every racer wants to race WSX, but a lot of guys are interested and want to race it but can't.

In other news, Roczen won't have a perfect season. Friese won race 2. Laughing

Wsx will grow , outdoors has become less appealing its clearly apparent in the 450 class

I don't think you can claim the stadium is full if you create the optics by closing off large parts of the stadium.  Surely they would have sold tickets to those seats if they could.

Feld mentioned a lot of their rounds were sold out, but if you looked close enough a lot of them the top sections were completely empty.

Capacity for Villa Park is about 42,600. It looked like about 25% (maybe more) of the stadium was not open for seating, so approximately 30K open capacity?  When looking at the crowd straight on instead of from an angle it looked like about 60% of the available seats were filled, so my guess is about 18-20K attendance. That’s just a very rough guess and ‘official’ attendance should be higher because of tickets given away, etc.

For reference, the claimed attendance at Cardiff last year was about 35K.

They did try to give tickets away with their Bogo sale leading up to the race….fill them seats anyway you can…it’s all about appearance.

Are you really sure regarding the numbers ? Because I thought the mx market was roughly 50/50 between the US and Europe or the rest of the world.

After watching Red Bud today…I’m getting a good laugh out of people making comments about “Motocross is dead” or “no one wants to race Motocross”.

You American's think that the AMA is all yours, Theres other counties out there that ride dirt bikes that have a right to enjoy the races and super cross. Growing the sport means  these counties get to enjoy what you think is the normal by having 17 rounds of super cross and 11 rounds of motor cross.
