Did I just ruin my carb?

 2009 RMZ250.  I was trying to remove my pilot jet with a screwdriver that was slightly too large.   Is this carb toast now?

For Sale: needs carb clean…………..just kidding… put it back together & see how it runs, after you finish whatever it is you were trying to do?

Thanks!  Pilot jet was clogged.  I will clean the carb and put a new pilot jet in.

Please report back.  Interested to hear how it runs.  I have a feeling the pilot sits recessed in that deep hole for a reason.

I'm curious as well.  Has to be a reason the pilot jet recess is as long as the needle.

JB Weld will turn to goo in fuel. Not a good idea.

I have repaired many carburetors with 2 part epoxy.  I would first super glue the aluminum pieces back together with  3M PR40 and then skin the outer with epoxy. My favorite epoxy is Wagner epox-a-leak CP2 if you can find it? I have also used J-B weld original (not the Kwik weld). Once the epoxy is cured it will be fine.  I think PR100 is the same glue but gell ?

I am curious, as well. I've wondered why some are recessed like that. Is it maybe so that the fuel drawn into the jet is a little more stable and therefor more consistent? (I mean stable in that it is not as jostled around as much as the rest of the floatbowl.) 

Anyway, I can't think that there would be any harm to the motor from riding it and seeing if there is a difference. Please report back!

It should be fine. I believe the reasoning for the jet being recessed it to kind of have a reservoir of fuel at the jet. Only one way to really find out, ride it and see if you notice anything.

Cleaned it and put new main and pilot jets in.  Starts right up and idles fine once warm.   I am hoping to get out riding this week.  I will report back on how it works on the track.   Although I am pretty slow and may not notice a difference even if there is one.
