Michigan's own Mike Hartwig, the winner of the first National held at Red Bud will be a guest this weekend. Also, joining Mike will be Mark Barnett, the first real superstar to rise up through the ranks, from mini bikes to top level pro at Red Bud. Us who were able to watch Mark grow and develop over the years were blessed to watch his amazing talent.

Mike was one of the fastest racers of the young AMA Pro Motocross series until a nagging back injury finally ended his racing career.

Mike Hartwig, who was a factory Husky rider, was one of the originals of motocross racing's Michigan Mafia.

Mark Barnett earned multiple championships due to his hard work, hard charging never give up work ethic.

Nice to see the Bomber make an appearance.

Seems like a heard/read somewhere he's kinda crotchety these days.   lol....getting order is a bitch.

Hartwig could have been a superstar - so fast and stylish.

Glad they are both still around

Hartwig was like a 70's Eli. He was way too fast for those bikes back then.

I still have 8mm film of him (Mike Hartwig) at the first Red Bud National just destroying either 250 or open class, made almost the entire field look like amateurs.

I got a pair of Barnett's Fox pants he threw out of his box van back in 81 at Hangtown. I kept them hoping to get his signature on them. 30 years later I finally got it. He was very quiet but he smiled and seemed appreciative after I told him the story of them. Barnett was one of my heroes as I was a Suzuki guy. I don't think he gets enough credit. He was so dominant for a few years.
