Mixing oil brands in a pinch?

I always run motul, forgot I needed oil for tomorrow and can only get my hands on Mobil 1 full synthetic motorcycle oil for tomorrow, I need to top it off with about half a quart, is this okay? I’d only run it for tomorrow, I’d put an hour on it

I've never done it, but I can't imagine it hurting anything. Enjoy the ride!

It’s done all the time in just about every kind of internal combustion engine known to man.  I bet this goes 6 or 7 pages once it gets going LOL!

Hahahhaha. Man, some years ago I made a post on Bob The Oil Guy saying I had a quart of Amsoil synthetic ATF laying around and the tranny on my F-150 was a little low, so could I use it? (I was planning to anyway. 1/2 quart in 12 quart total will be fine. Just wanted to see what that forum was about.)

HOLY CRAP! You should have seen the shit storm! "You are an idiot! You are going to destroy your car! Follow the manual! There will be floods, locusts, earthquakes . . . ."

It was hilarious. All these dudes that probably wouldn't change car floor mats unless the manual said it was OK.

Some people go freakin crazy when it comes to oil.  The bass boat and boating forums go beyond ape shit crazy on post about oil.  The dealer ship guys would post saying Yamalube marine 2 cycle had special pixy dust additives.  Then some guy posts a picture of a case of Yamalube he bought and half the bottles were labeled CITGO.  At the time CITGO was making Yamalube.  The 30 dollar a gal Yamalube was the same thing as a gal of Citgo at Academy for 14 bucks.  It wouldn’t surprise me if Yamaha 2 cycle outboard oil and 2 cycle motorcycle oil weren’t the same but that’s just a guess.

I’d give it a 50/50 chance the reason the current current CRF’Rs have a 10-30 spec I’d because that’s all Exxon is making with Honda on the bottle but that just a guess.  Maybe there are dyno test to prove different.  I’d also guess all the name grade oils are good.  A person would be surprised how few lube plants we have in the US that kick out oil.  I would guess and it’s just a guess many are the same oil, just different bottle.

Oil threads get entertaining.

I know one thing that’s not a guess, it’s hot as hell in Southeast Texas!!!

It happens basically anytime you switch brands during an oil change.  How much oil do you think remains undrained in the engine hidden in nooks and crannies?

I think it will be fine but how did you get 1/2 quart low? The engine only holds about a quart.

I have done it on several occasions. My bikes didn't grenade, detonate, or implode. You're safe.

Hell sometimes I mix 3. It don't stay in there long enough to matter. Just put some Maxima and a little Amsoil in the 2T tranny. 4 hours and it's outta there anyway!

I missed the boat  and went to the airport on any pages this post would go.  Few years back an oil post was good for quite a few pages.  Along with a few guys getting put in time out.  Guess we’ve all got soft

We had some good ones on Rotella.  WD40 too!!!
