KTM E5 or Husqvarna EE5 long term review

Was doing some research on these bikes online for my boys. Doesn't seem to be any long term reviews posted other than initial impressions... looking for any input on how it is to actually own and use these bikes? Curious of the the height range adjustments and how well it actually can grow with your child as time goes on. Thanks

I got one for my son and I haven’t done anything to it but ride it, wash it and charge it. We got one of the first ones.
I ride it as much as he does.

I also put a smaller front wheel on it from a KTM mini. He is only 4. It will last a long time. I just charge it during breaks.

Awesome. I had a question as to if the thing could be used as a pitbike like a CRF50 or klx110. I'm planning to move into a neighborhood with an acre or two and don't want any problems with neighbors. It will be in King County not too far out of Seattle so I can already envision the problems I will have even with a quiet pit bike. I know it's an expensive solution but if the thing will hold up it will be worth it for me. Any thoughts?

No issues here with the bike except run time once the kid goes beyond map 3. Would be a good idea to have an older gas bike too. My kid hasn't broken anything except an arm falling off a swing set a month ago. FYI the Cobra is supposed to have a quick swap battery. I believe the KTM/Husky needs to have the battery in the bike to charge, but not sure.

I'd say you better be a small guy. I'm 6 ft 1 in tall and 225 pounds. That little electric bike doesn't pull me around very well. My one friend is 5ft 4in and 130 pounds and it's pretty quick with him on it.

I am 5”7 165. I have a TTR 110 and it feels way faster than that.

Check out a sur ron light bee. I got to check one out two weekends ago. They are legit! Would make a great bike to mess around on in an environment you described.

There were a hand full that didn't finish their motos at Loretta's. Also saw the same issue at the 3 Palms regional which is a sand track.

My son has one and it’s perfect for riding in a neighborhood. It has 6 power modes, so you can dial it for whatever experience level rider. He’s put over 100 hrs on it, and all I had to do is change the chain and sprockets. You know how many air filters and top ends you’d go through on a 50cc in the same amount of time?

I bought a brand new Husqvarna ee5 for my 7 yr old. We have had nothing but issues with the bike. The dash has been replaced once already on the bike with not even owing it a year and just yesterday the bike again will not start which I believe is the dash again. Very frustrated with this bike. When it works it works great but when something like this happens the bike is use less. My kid races this bike every weekend and we just finish up one series and the bike goes for a shit! Just beware when buying one there is no warranty on a brand new dirt bike.

Old ass thread, but as a father that has the end of 50’s in sight, if I could have gone back to 2020, I think I would have done an e5. Did the progression of the pw->mini->senior. 
I have plenty of friends that have e-bikes for their kids, the battery lasts much longer than I expected, especially when the rider is young and not WOT 100% of the time. The bikes are great offroad. No overheating, light and full suspension.

Now with the $ I put into gas bike maintenance, I could have easily afforded a gas bike to supplement the ebike. Would have been easy to pick up a senior when the kid got big enough to begin the transition to gas. 
avoid the e3. 500 cheaper than the e5 with worse suspension and less power.

Hate to hear that. My 6 yr old is on the ktm e5 and it’s been really great. No issues at all. Charge it, lube the chain, adjust the chain, and ride. Grips and tires are the only thing we’ve replace so far.

 

Sounds like you have have gotten a lemon.

My son still races his and this thread was 3 years ago. We raised it and put the original wheel back on it. We replaced one battery and we have had one electrical issue and that is it. He is 7 now and also rides a KTM senior.

Yeah man those Stacyc’s are total junk IMO. If the battery isn’t overheating then something is always breaking. Atleast on our 3 yr old 16 inch.
