Prayers for the young man.
I always thought that whether it be track/venue policy or an insurance thing there had to always be EMS on site for at least race days, I know most off road races are also this way. I remember having to wait to start until a second ambulance arrived after someone had to be transported. Not saying in this case specifically, but there is a lot of injuries that can be life threatening that if treated immediately by a trained professional can be of much less consequence.
Here’s a quick update from the go fund me page. Sad to think a kid my age is currently fighting for his life. 😢 Let’s keep him in prayer and hope he pulls through!

Thoughts and prayers for this young kid and his family. I loved cahuilla when I lived there. But that place is built on some ancient Indian burial ground. Everytime I’ve been there the heli has shown up to take someone away. I was there when the guy passed away on the main track. I have no clue what’s up with that place…..
Rest in Peace Rody 🕊️🙏 🕊️

Dammit man... RIP Rody.
RIP Rody, so sad. My heart goes out to the family and friends.
Can't even imagine the heartache for the family. RIP Rody
Son of a gun! RIP young man.
I am in no way qualified to even remotely understand the torment this young man’s parents are going through, however I believe all who are parents on this forum cannot imagine a worse outcome on what should have been a fun day. My prayers to the family and friends. It will no doubt be a very long period of disbelief, and I will pray that you all are able to be strong and will be in a better place in the future. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤️☮️
RIP Rody. I cannot imagine what his family is going through right now. My heart & prayers are with them.
RIP Rody. His family will be in my prayers.
So sorry to get this news. My heart & soul goes out to Rody & his family.
As far as the Bell helmet, it was in no way a factor. I will leave it at that.
Fare well Rody.
Way too young to go. Rest in peace
So sorry to read about this! It is absolutely a parents worst nightmare.
I personally think Cahuilla’s Vet Track is NO Vet Track. I broke my wrist there, and it was 100% my fault, and no body else’s but I personally feel that no “vet track” should have a double jump of any kind. There is no reason anyone over 30 years old needs to worry about clearing a double and/or getting landed on. The jump faces are not prepped correctly nor are the knuckles created by people landing on the top of table tops.
I personally will not be going there until they create a proper “Vet Track”! Eliminate the doubles, maintain safe table tops.
Godspeed Rody!
All of the vet tracks I'm aware of have some doubles.
Most do, you’re correct. Glen Helen is the only one that I’m aware of that doesn’t. Cahuilla has an excellent main track, I just don’t understand why they need to have so many on a vet track. They basically have about 7 or 8 on a “vet” track and that makes zero sense to me.
The main focus on this thread should about the family of this Rody and I really shouldn’t have brought a focus on the track.
Pit Row
Just roll the double away from the main line and hold your line. That’s all you have to do….cahuilla is fast, the lips do tend to Get kicks because people blurp the throttle at the lip rather then just hit iT with steady throttle or just come in alittle hott and roll off it.
Honestly, the doubles on the Vet Track aren’t so bad that I can’t do them. I just choose to not do some because there is no risk/reward worth doing them at 58 years old that makes sense to me.
My point is Cahuilla has enough available dirt to make every jump on the “vet” track a much safer table top. They should address the kicker problem, but I’ve never had an issue with one there myself. Where I crashed was that stupid CCW Direction uphill turning table top that was dished out from 99% of the people landing on top. I screwed up on a site lap and landed on the knuckle of the landing and yard saled myself! 100% my fault!
Post a reply to: Cahuilla Creek life flight yesterday. Anyone there?
