I think Stew is already better, and he is much less experienced.
Ralph, Emig, or Stewart..
As long as it's being broadcast, I could care less! Either one has been fine and has good and bad comments/reactions.
I personally like both. I think hating on RC in the booth has become very trendy, just as thinking JS is amazing is also somewhat trendy. The hate from RC somehow is quick to point out his flaws but ignores the good analysis that he brings. Just like the love for JS praises his analysis but ignores his bad points. I don't get it. To me, they are pretty equal overall. Neither is a professional speaker. James makes up words and mispronounces stuff, just like RC stutters over words or doesn't transition smoothly at times. But we only hear about RC being bad. I don't expect either guy to be a polished media professional. They are retired motorcycle racers. But they both put in work and are doing a great job. I think each adds a unique perspective and I enjoy both.
I just think the way RC moved into Jeff's role has sort of hurt how people view him, in the booth. Just like how JS was MIA for a long time and fans were so excited that he is back into the sport (myself included.) That is probably playing a role. But if you put that aside and call it for what it is, they both do a pretty similar job. RV and Jeremy Martin did just as well, last year, in my opinion.

I too think both are ok, but currently I prefer JS7. He says some different things than what Ricky says and I like to hear his perspective.
I think alot of the 'likes' for JS7 is cuz he is new to the role. We've heard Ricky for years.
Having both in at the Wick will give us a head to head comparison.
The fresh approach and stories that Glover brought are what I loved about listening to him.
The old saying Variety is the Spice of Life somewhat explains the current lean toward JS7.
James Stewarts fans have had resentment towards Ricky Carmichael ever since he retired, because he and Ryan Villopoto were the two riders that waxed JS7 for every AMA championship they competed against him in. Now, with James in the booth, they try to ease their pain of the past by saying RC sucks in the booth and that James is so much better only to ease the pain of the past. I enjoy listening to RC more than JS7, because he's better at analyzing what current riders are doing good or bad, since he was better at setting his bike up for racing than James was.
I'm not hating on RC. I've met him outside of moto a few times and he was a genuinely nice guy. He just doesn't do it for me with announcing. I think he's better than Emig was but his take on thinks is off sometimes. RC was for sure the goat with racing but i don't think he put too much thought into things back then(probably why he was so good). Due to that his analysis is just sometimes off from others. Sometimes Stew gets a little carried away but as long as he stays focused i really like him as an announcer. His insight is usually pretty on point. He just brings an energy to the booth that others don't as well. I personally liked Langston in that seat though.
It's a tough job though. Nobody is perfect and i think we all forget that over time EVERYONE starts to wear a little thin. When Ricky first started, i didn't care about his fumbles. I liked him announcing. Over time Stew will wear thin on us too. Just the nature of hearing the same person talking over and over again. It's like your dad telling the same stories over and over again. It just gets old.
I used to love Weege (still prefer him over anyone else) but i think even with him there is a bit of over exposure and I find myself getting annoyed at him at times. I think it just comes with the territory of talking for a living.
I don’t dislike RC announcing, but his blurting out with the “Ohhhh” comments, while Weege is talking, over a slight bobble of a rider, is overplayed. It’s like the mini dad/mom of n the stands at the local races… c’mon Ricky, that little bobble didn’t need all the panic.
being that said, I think James is doing a great job in the booth and makes way less mistakes. Ricky is good for several tongue- twisters each race. I have heard that James has been going to classes on speaking and it seems to be helping his delivery.
That job is tough, I’m not cut out for public speaking and sure as hell couldn’t be an announcer, so I’m just glad that both of them are doing it for our entertainment
Now that would be funny.
"My fellow Americans. ...There appears to be a pass attempt.... about to happen... on Ken Roczen."
Yeah Yeah Yeah that’s the reason! Dude you way overthink shit and spend to much time focusing on what James’ fans think. Why can’t you just say that last part where it’s start with, “I enjoy listening to RC…..” and leave all that other stuff out.
All I see is fans of both on the track but giving their opinions on who they think is better in the booth, simple as that.
You really think people hold on to resentment for 15 years just because another rider beat their rider? Geezus dude, that’s a lot of wasted time and energy. Time to move on, you literally say the same thing in every post and it has to do with James and or his fans. Hmmm 🤔
Art Eckman could not even get the riders names right half the time. This place woulds be on fire every week.
Carmichael thought a 3-1 would get you the overall no matter what. For a professional racer of 11 years to think that is inexcusable and blows my mind. Stewart is way better in the booth.
Apparently I have triggered you. People are irritated, because they feel as if Jett Lawrence is being stuffed down their throats, but when James Stewart came on the scene, he was stuffed down peoples throats to nauseam and its still happening to this day. It's like every week there's a new JS7 thread as if he's still racing today. I dislike double standards.
Ricky and James are so good together because they are looking at the race from the same perspective. Former DOMINANT champs that know everything there is to know about the sport.
There are others with better vocabularies and speaking voices but there is NO one with more insight.
You have to excuse Ricky; too many 1-1's to remember how the scoring goes after that.
Chill bro. Even RC and Stew have said that the Jett is the "Guy". The dominant guy will always get "rammed" down our throats.
Triggered? Lmao it’s just funny that James is the only guy you ever single out. There’s a common denominator here that everyone’s sees. You’re a one trick pony. The downvotes should tell you something.
Exactly. I think RC bends over backwards to compliment almost every rider when you KNOW what he's really thinking. He's an excellent ambassador for the sport.
Pit Row
RC rambles and repeats stuff way too much, great rider, bad announcer.
James is just better and will continue to get better if given the chance.
I just don't like how Stewart says but. He says buh 🙄 🤣 Anybody but ralf.
That’s funny, but true lol
They all suck, they need to realise there are other riders racing than just Jett and Deegan, it would be nice to hear other names on the commentary.
I agree. Let's face it neither is a master of the English language, but Ricky tries a little too hard to be humble and nice to everyone. I find myself honestly laughing out loud to some of what James says because it rings truer to what really goes through a racers head.
Honestly, I watch the race and listen to these guys like they were sittin' here with me...drinking a beer and shooting the shit.
We are bench racing with two of the best ever. Enjoy it while you can fellas.
Having said that...I can see AC and ??? in the booth. Brayton would be a good sidekick.
I guess my point is...I'll take the guys that have been in the trenches over others all day long ...warts and all.
This is false for me. I was 100% behind RC and did not ever cheer for Stew to beat him...quite the opposite. I respected what Stew did on the bike, but just much more behind RC from the beginning. That said, RC is misplaced and terrible at announcing. Stew has only done a few races and just destroys RC with analysis. If you want to hear the difference between the two, go back and listen to some of the podcasts that Emig and RC did and then listen to Stews. Not even close. Analyst analogy....RC is in the C class and Stew is racing the A class at Lorettas looking for a factory ride.
RC is cringe worthy. He should just stay the GOAT of mx now he is the wort.
Stewart is good , Grant Langston was surprisingly good as well.
RC was very good at MX now they forcing him to do something he is terrible at. So sad !
