The Mikuni carb was not garbage, that TMX carb was what the factory team used to win a number of championships in MXGP and Japan. It was finicky to jet but it made a little more power than the Keihin. Here is the jetting the factory team used for sea level. it fixed my jetting issues for good using the same set up in Japan and the east coast US;

Needle; #6BEH1-75 with clip in the 2nd slot

Main Jet; #30

Pilot Jet; #430

Air Screw; 1.75 turns out

The stock 01 pipe gives the hardest hit from mid-range on up. None of the FMF pipes will give a harder hit than stock and I have tried them all.  All the FMF pipes move the power down low to help with the soft bottom and to keep the mid-range hit from wearing you out.  The FMF SST pipe did the best job of moving the power around to help the bottom w/o losing too much of the top. Not a good idea to detune the hit by making it too rich. A lot of us softened the hit and widened the powerband by adding a higher volume exhaust valve cover or simply adding a spacer... this is an easy way to move around power.  The HRC engines also added an adjustable exhaust valve stopper in addition to the exhaust valve spacer sizes to make it very easy to adjust the power band.

Do the HRC cylinders run O-rings instead of a head gasket?

its been prob about 15 years since i had that bike, but i remember using the stock jetting from the 00 cr250 and it ran way better than what i had at the time w/ the tmx. not sure if the tmx jetting info was around at that time but the pwk ran alot better.

i didnt have the stock pipe w/ the bike..it initially came w/ a busted up PC pipe so the FMF felt alot better but i do believe what you're saying about the stock pipe

I think MX Bonz was selling a frame adapter/ mount kit to bolt the 01 engine into a 3rd gen frame.

Either you purchase the bones mount or source 00-01 stock upper engine mounts.  They bolt right up.

Super easy engine swap.  Building another one right now!

Starting in 02 the CR250R had a case reed engine; these engines sucked on 91 octane pump gas and were very susceptible to atmospheric changes. I had my 03 jetted perfect one day at Lake Elsinore and it ripped. the next week at the same track the temp and humidity were different and it ran like a dog. I started running 1/2 91 octane pump gas and 1/2 VP c12 and it solved the problem. Once I got it jetted right on this gas it ran pretty consistently and the air temp didn't matter

i had an 01 and it had that garbage mikuni carb on it..i bougght a new pwk air stryker from a 2000 cr250 new from honda and that bike RIPPED! i actually jetted it rich to de-tune it because it hit so hard w/ the fmf pipe i had on it.

i think using a lectron today would have similar if not better results

Do you know what the factory team was using for jetting on the case reed engines?

Did HRC japan ever had a HRC program for the late models of cr125? we have all seen the US Hrc parts that FC Honda used but i understand that they were made in us?.

Just asking since i never have seen a japanese championship protype cr125 or any 125 hrc parts since the HPP cylinders.

Now, I’m curious. Would an 01 CR 250 engine fit in a 04 CR 125 chassis?
Hope you’re doing well bud.

Anything can be made to fit but you are less likely to find kits for that.. The 125 frame cradle is small and you will probably have to cut away a lot more.

The 125 HRC builds are less popular, but I know a few guys doing it. There are HRC parts for the 125's, but not as common for a couple of reasons.  You will not see any smaller bore bikes under the HRC tent in Japan, except for the IA class bikes. The smaller bore Honda bikes are supported by the satellite teams like MotoRoman and T.E. Sports which receive some HRC support. Also the tiddler class in AMA supercross had stricter rules on factory parts than the "premier class".

IMG 0431.jpeg?VersionId=FozsRGc0LThe last true hrc 125 parts i saw is the early 90’s hrc hpp cylinder ned exhaust.

and then as i said the 02/03 FC Honda us modified parts.

looking at cairolis tiscali honda 125 from -03 i don’t know if it has HRC parts or if it was a italian tuned engine.

hi everyone,

I’m Marc, 30 years old in 3 days lol, I live in France. Passionate about Honda, probably because of one of my uncles who owns a honda store lol.

I started with a 2007 CR 125 with only 10H. a big regret to have sold it... I then ride another motorcycle, RM 125, YZ 125, CRF 250... then I bought again a CR 125 2002 then CR 125 2007 that I also sold because I could no longer ride a motorcycle.

I open this topic for share the passion for  Honda 2 strokes 2000's that I prefer,

Have Nice days everyone.

PS: sorry for my bad english Smile

I think only anodized parts come from HRC lol, it would be necessary to contact R&D they would surely have more info

Would’ve been awesome to see Jimmy D on this Factory cr125 today.  This is the 1st pic I,ve seen of a Messico pipe on a later cr125.  Are they know for upper mid & topend ?  How do you buy one living in America?  For a 2004 cr125 . Hgs Budd in Cal. Is sold out again.

Thx. I see there site is updated, no price on stuff. The Kevlar carbon silencers r Super Trick. No one make a pipe for just a 04. It’s 03-04 there radically diff engines. It could b the best pipe for a mod engine   Being that a factory bike has one.  Anyone try a Messico pipe on a 03-07 ?  I know it’s the pipe of choice for a 89.
