Just wondering what people are paying to practice on a race track that is good enough to hold national level events. Around Ontario it is 25 to 30 bucks .

These practice fees keep climbing! Pretty soon it will cost you what a friggin lift ticket costs! I remember when $15 was the standard and Saddleback2 came along with $20.....soon everyone followed. Now we're up to $25 everywhere!

I didn't mind $20 because it was easy to grab and have on hand but that extra 5 is a real PITA when you are at an ATM machine

National level track? LMAO . Local track here that seems geared toward non local riders costs 20 bucks per day. Pretty nice tracks, although they have a couple of double and triple jumps that less than ten percent of the riders even attempt to jump and they are designed to where it is nearly impossible to roll them. Absolute hazard that they refuse to address by simply bridging the gaps with dirt. The fast guys would still be clearing them and the slower majority would not be floundering in their way. I have no clue why shit like that ends up on a local track. And they can't seem to figure out why so few people come out to ride.

I go to 3 in Pennsylvania. All charge $40 the first time for a membership and a day of riding. After that its $25 a day.

Pittsburgh Raceway does something unique where you can flag for a day then ride for free the next day.

Blue Diamond MX in Delaware offers free practice days for flagging on race day.

That's a pretty cool idea... I'd flag for a day to be able to ride for free!

Many of the tracks around here could stand to have flaggers on a regular basis. Of course you'd have to make sure whoever you have out there flagging has a clue as to what they are doing and someone would need to manage them to ensure they are doing what they are supposed to...

I agree things are getting out of hand. One track puts it up and then they all put it up. Gopher dunes which holds a Canadian national when I started riding there in 95 it was five bucks and in 2001 it was $10. Now it is $25 on the weekend.
R.J motosport charges $30 for a mid week evening ride. Just another reason why the sport is going down the tubes around here.

We held the CMRC Nat in Regina, SK for quite a few years, $200/year gets you a key and you can ride when you want. 5 hours of volunteer work gets you a $75 rebate.

Is this a good deal?

Granted we have 10 motocross parks here in Houston, but only one of them is at the level of a national track. Since we don't have much elevation change, most of our track sare kind of SX/MX hybrids. All are open for practice, most are $15 gate fee, one is $21 but totally worth it.

I think 25-30 dollars to ride all day at any facility is a value.

I sure would like gas prices to be the same as 1999. Wait some riding fees are the same as 1999 around here!!!

in IL it's 20 -30 depending the facilty and many have "membership" fees which is mainly a "help cover the insurance fee".

I don't think people are hauling the earnings to the bank in wheelbarrows that own facilities.

I can understand slightly raising to cover the cost of liability insurance and maintanence though. I just dont get why some tracks like was stated above are charging $45-55/day to ride, or charging a +/- $100 membership fee and then 25 or so each day on top of it. Thats steep in my opinion.

I am sure your liabilty laws up there are much different then here. giving someone a "key" to a facility is well in my opinion ridiculous.

Actually, not all that different, wardy. Rediculous sums it up quite well.

On another note, we did some number crunching two years ago and based all the track day personnel on volunteers. The numbers we came up with look surprisingly similar to those reported by jtiger12. Really couldn't make it work for less.

Great deal. I would be willing to pay a little more to have flaggers.

1989 - million dollar liability policy - $2000 - cost to ride $5
2001 - same policy - $16000 - cost to ride $15

Most tracks around here charge $20 - and many of them do not carry liability insurance.

There's a reason that many tracks have gone by the wayside
