We get it. You hate Yamaha, or something.. why? Just being a douche or legit reason?

It is crazy that none of these aftermarket companies cant come up with a skid plate.. I still can't get one from cycra..

That's just a bonus. I want a skid plate, to skid.

Just drill new holes in the one you got and run it.

The GYTR glide plate the Yamaha shop brought in for me is actually the GYTR to fit the 18-22 YZ450F and to be honest it was almost an exact fit anyway! (The pic of he drop down menu was just to illustrate the lack of a YZ450f option!) when I started to realize that it was this one or none, I decided to try and mod it to work. As Lumpy mentioned, I did consider trying to space the brackets out slightly however, the OEM bolts were only long enough to fit with the brackets fitted and that resulted in no threads extended out beyond the nut fastener. I just attached the glide plate with the bottom/center bolt (under the frame!) then estimated how much to elongate the holes then carefully marked/drilled/finished out the new holes with my Dremel tool. Bolted everything up with the supplied GYTR hardware and it fits / looks exactly as it should! 😎 👍❗️IMG 0375

I had emailed Cycra back before the stadium plate was released, think it was April, about stadium plate and skid plate release dates. Cycra noted back then that they were projecting a release date for the skid plate sometime in June.

I have searched around for other options and found that P3 has several offerings for the 23 available. I believe I am going that direction.

Bit of a numpty question. (yeh - truth hurts) I have mostly ridden my bike on either full sand or mostly rough AF sand MX tracks and haven't been too impressed or been able to get the front end to where i would like (feels harsh, kinda unstable) Last week i went to our midweek mx worlds which is more hard pack or little bit loamy. I emediately noticed the frorks are super soft. I feel like a nitwit as i had not really felt that when riding sand even though it was rough as hell.......(truth hurst - no Keefer job for me) Even with the soft feeling i was really really impressed with this bike on this type of track, night and day better and so dam nimble. It likes SX tracks that's for sure.

Anywhoooo....I'm gonna add some fork oil. Manual says the qty is 270 cm/3 standard with range of 260-365 cm/3. That seems like a pretty huge range (maybe it's not)

i) How much oil should i add ? (I'm 235 lb Vet A rider ??

ii) What do you think i will notice other than better bottoming resistance ??

Cheers and thanks.

You need to get heavier springs as well.

My 23 Yam 450 came 40cc lower than the claimed standard 270cc.

Unfortunately I've encountered a problem that I'm unsure what to do!

A week ago I was riding and ran into the problem that Keefer eluded to on his instagram story, he put up the info saying the Kill / Map switch is prone to getting moisture or water in it.

This happened to me, it engaged the launch control while riding, causing it to splutter and miss, then go back to normal, then turn off all together.

I pulled the switch apart, dried out the moisture, and put it back together, it has been fine until today.

When I wash the bike I cover the switch in cling wrap and tape it to make sure it doesn't get wet, i rode on the weekend twice, I haven't washed the bike as it wasn't very dirty.

Tonight the orange launch control light has randomly come on while sitting in the shed, while pulling the switch apart again, the battery started surging on and off like when you tap the electric start.

I have no idea as the bike hasn't been washed since I rode it when it was fine, I tried riding it quickly to click into 3rd gear to see if the launch control switches off. But it stays on.

Does anyone have any suggestions or encountered anything similar?

The orange light flashes a fault code usually. I’d count the flashes and refer to the manual. Water got into my ecu connector and made my bike fault early on.

Thankyou for your reply,

My orange light was staying on solid and not flashing, I disconnected the battery to leave it over night.

Did you replace your switch or did you silicon it to seal it?

My issue was a little different. I haven’t done anything to my start/stop button. I was getting an air pressure sensor fault on the throttle body. I replaced it and put dielectric grease in every connector, finding water and corrosion in the main ecu plug after only a few hours. No issues since for me. Common factor is water though.

Thankyou,

I will check all the other plugs tomorrow and see if I can find any water or corrosion.

You needed to hear about folks having issues with their bikes to make yourself feel better about the purchase you made?

no i felt good from the jump lol... thats why i bought the f*cker lol

But i loved my yamaha when i had them untill i didnt. The chassis was great, it made riding the bike seem effortless. Then the motor was super strong and awesome power, until the connecting rod went snap. after that happened i immediately realized the chassis handling wasn't worth risking my life over. jumped ship to ktm. all the dudes that also rode ktm around me at the time all had a very similar story about the connecting rod experience (some more than once. Some dudes saying the same thing ventured all the way back to 2007.

I am still a fan of Yamahas products. i just cant ever trust a motocross bike from them again unless im doing the connecting rod first. Not sure if Carrillo or cw1 has a rod out for this bike yet. But if they did it might be a good idea to get it on your list of aftermarket purchases and make it priority number one cause it sure would be mine haha

every one has different experiences and some will say well that bike probably wasnt maintained or whatever... but i think we all know what to do if were gonna go ride.. air filter, and oil change every time cause why take the risk!

Did you seriously just mention a 2007, and utilize that as a positive in your argument against Yamaha reliability? 😂

Tip: check your cam chain and clutch rubbers. They wear out pretty quickly.

I used Craig decker in Texas, front n rear springs , spring perch, including shipping was around $1200. I’ve had conevalves on my ktms n they don’t compare how sweet these forks really are! Bike stays flat n straight 🤙
