So with Roczen going down, is this the first season where not one rider has completed every lap of a season? Some like sexton completed every race, But even he was lapped at Indy. So nobody completed every lap of the 450 sx season. Just crazy.

That's insane, I forgot about Sexton being lapped in Indy.
Also only 4 riders did all main events

Interesting observation.

The injury shitshow of SX will now ruin outdoors too.

If we ran the outdoors first, the outdoors would be ruining the SX season.  At some point, you realize that racing a dirt bike is dangerous, and riders get injured frequently.  And the more competitive the racing, the harder the riders push the envelop, the more injuries occur.  Look at the injuries in the MXGPs.  Plenty of injuries in MX too.  It is what it is.

Pretty sure there's more injuries in supercross than anything else. It wiped out almost every factory rider this year.

Riders get hurt in both series is my point.  Look at the past injuries from Dungey, RV, Stewart, Reed, and Tomac.  Going fast in highly competitive, close racing series = injuries are going to happen.  People just bitch about SX because the season is before MX.

People bitch about supercross because it's inherently more dangerous.

"People just bitch about SX because the season is before MX."

There are injuries in both SX and MX, but I don't recall a year where almost every factory rider was injured heading into a new Supercross season or sitting out most of the nationals from getting hurt early on in the MX season.

Supercross was brutal this year.

There really is no series before the other. You race one series you wait an extra week you race another….rinse and repeat. If your really really good and you've done both for awhile, some guys can choose one. It’s  how the sport works and always has….year round.  Its what makes moto so gnarly compared to other sports

Yup.

...and SX didn't use to be this way.   Sure there were injuries...but not like now.      Both the 250 and 450 fields were decimated this year.

Todays racers have raised the level so much by taking more risks to succeed which in turn means more crashing trying to succeed .

You know, I’ve been wondering if the increased purse amounts due to the SMX deal had everyone sending it a little harder this year. With the exceptions of Webb and Tomac, who both had their own freak incidents.

No, not the first. In 2012, only three riders made every main; Millsaps, Alessi, and Metcalfe. All three had at least one race that they missed a lap in.

2012 is probably the only year where the eventual champion won the title while injured.

Interesting tidbit:

RV² won the 2012 SX championship by 104 points in the 13th round.

He was 115 points up with three rounds remaining after winning N'awlins.

He went out on the first lap of round 15 Seattle with a torn ACL, also killing his MX participation that year.

Probably a lot more championships that didn’t do every lap.

Breaking bikes and dnfing or crashing out was always part of it.

Decoster once said something about learning how to ride just fast enough and not breaking the bike was all part of it.

It might have happened in 1995 as well.  McGrath didn't race Vegas because of the issue with the lights.  The rest of the guys had some bad finishes where they surely got lapped.  Ward finished 11th one race so he may or may not have been on the lead lap.

one series has a 3 month gap, the other is a 2 week gap. One series starts at the beginning of the year, the other starts mid-year. There is a pretty clear one before the other

I wonder if there has ever been a champion that was lapped during their winning season prior to this.

I'll say it again. The problem isn't the tracks or the amount of laps put on a given track.. It's the unforgiving schedule. 17 rounds with almost zero rest. FELDs greed driven schedule is the culprit. Make the series 14-15 rounds with some strategically placed rest weekends and the injury list has a significantly different look. Just my $0.02

Slow Chase Sexton down so the rest of the field does not hurt themselves trying to keep up
