Did CS23 clinch the title? Tomac is out, up more than 26 on KR94. That breaks the course in my book!!!!! Hell yeah the Big Red Machine back on top!!!! Hate that Tomac got hurt, hate they won this way, but Hell yeah a Championship is a Championship! WooHoo!
No.
Yeah Chase doesn't even have to race next week if Eli doesn't.
Technically? No. Realistically? Yes, 100%.
he did clinch. He can sit at home next week and he is still champ. I mean, yes, Eli could come out in a cast and try and ride around, but......

Yes he did. Unofficially officially. I wouldn’t even show up next week.
Yes..? Lol
It will be official when Eli doesn’t start the heat race in SLC.
This is the perfect question to answer with "Yeah, No"
Diffie calling him the champion elect is probably the best way to describe the situation I guess .
Nah yeah
He did. Chase doesnt even need to race next week and hell still win as long as tomac doesnt race, which he wont.
Yeah, no, fersher
After 21 years of trying, Honda will finally win their 1st AMA SX Championship with a 4 banger.
So THIS is how the curse of the GOAT is broken!? Damn.

Yep 1st on the 4 pokes.
And with the Jett and Hunter coming the list can look like above again. Title after title just switch the rider.
Chase knows hes pretty much won. However he didn't look very thrilled the way he essentially won it.
He knows as well as anyone that countless media/fans will add the dreaded * to his championship.
Personally, I hate that sh!t: gotta be in it to win it, and Chase stayed in it.

The key is “as long as Tomac doesn’t race.”
Truly clinching means it doesn’t matter who races, ie a 26+ point lead.
We all know Tomac isn’t racing, but he “could” in theory…therefore Chase doesn’t get the title yet.
So it's called "math." Yes, Chase won the championship. Jesus.
According to math, Eli is 7 points back. So math says Eli could still win. Reality says he isn't racing, but math is the reason they couldn't give Chase the plate in Denver.
Exactly. Say another freak accident happens and chase gets hurt this week in practice. Eli could come cruise around with a solid boot on his foot and get 14th and win the title
Chase did not clinch. There is a mathematical chance for Tomac to take 7 more points than Sexton, and thus win the title. It isn't going to happen, but Chase does not have an unassailable lead.
