RV won every championship he finished beating RD and Stew who are both on the list of all time greats. Not to take anything away from Eli but the people he was beating are not going to be on the list, plus he raced 4 years or so longer to get these numbers.. RV is Barry Sanders and Eli is Emmitt Smith.. we all know who was really better

It took Eli many more years to match RV’s records. RV came in and simply dominated then dropped the mike and retired.  Dominating the sport against the competition RV faced puts him ahead on my list.

So you're saying RV burned himself out in a shorter time period and couldn't/didn't want to have a longer career.  As such Eli will end with more wins and more amount of titles.  Hard to argue the scoreboard.

Why is Stew and RD being brought into the discussion, no one mentioned them.

Eli is one of the all-time greats, but he has raced 5 years longer than RV and he still doesn't have as many championships as RV.

Actually I think Eli has faced tougher competition, especially in his later years. RV basically had a prime RD as his main and only competition. JS CR were mostly injured and in their later years. We seen what a prime JS did to RV in 2009.

RV wishes he would have switched brands and raced a few more years though.   He admires what ET has done.

RV was dominant from beginning (250) to end (450)...in his last year SX championship, in the last 4 races, he led every lap, 80 straight laps to win the title.

Eli has been great, but prob should have 2-3 more SX champ's if it wasnt for his brain farts or pressure pack melt downs.

Eli is one of the all-time greats, but he has raced 5 years longer than RV and he still doesn't have as many championships as RV.

Eli has 4 motocross championships (450 class), and when he wins this season he will have (3) SX championships (450 class).  7 overall championships in the 450 class with another possible 450 outdoors win still possible this summer.

RV has (4) SX championships (450 class) and (2) outdoors motocross championships (450 class).  That's 6 overall championships in the 450 class.  I suppose if you added the lites classes in, RV has more championships - but lets be real, the big bike class championships are what really matters.

Eli career 450 SX wins - 51,  Eli career 450 MX wins 32, Eli lites SX wins 12, Eli MX lites wins - 12, total career wins 107

RV career 450SX wins - 41, RV career 450MX wins 12, RV lites SX wins 11, RV MX lites wins - 20, total career wins 72 + 1 MXGP

Eli has scoreboard over RV in all facets except lites class MX.  Who cares if Eli raced 5 more years.  Kudos to him for staying healthy and not burning out.  No guarantee that had RV raced longer that he wouldn't have crashed out, got hurt, or kept his speed thus winning championships.

Definitely like RV and tons of respect, but statistically speaking Eli has him in almost all categories.

Eli to me is almost a combo of RV/RD. Hard to say that any of them are clearly better than the others. RV was maybe the most tenacious of the three with Dungey on the other end of the spectrum and Eli in between.

Yes.

Eli’s move to Yamaha has been one of the greatest career resurrections in the sport.

Hannah to Honda was pretty awesome as well. Bob didn't get the titles but he led every championship at one point If I recall correctly. He got hurt just enough to spoil it but he was dominate for the most part when he wasn't.

RV lost the first 450 SX championship that he ran. 2009. Ryan Dungey won 450SX and MX his rookie year. RV really took command in 2011 but really Reed had that MX contest in hand until Millville so I wouldn't say RV was straight up dominating.

One of the greatest riders of all time in our sport just went out with a freak season ending injury and likely career ender to boot, and you had to be "that guy".  Takes a special kind of ass clown to revel under the circumstances.

Congrats for be a complete fucking douchebag.

Really dude, I posted that before I knew what his injury was. Now it comes off as a little insensitive, I apologize. Geez, some snowflakes in here!

Ignoring the obvious here …

Had Tomac won this championship, it would have been 3 SX to RV’s 4 and 4 MX to RV’s 2. So at that point it comes down to what you value. A guy staying out there at Tomac’s age and still being a top guy, but not really mastering the mental side of things to become a complete rider till well after the age RV retired. Or do you value the short, injury riddled career of RV, who won every championship he lined up for with the highest win percentage ever from 2011 onward, but retired at a very young age, indicating how much he sacrificed to be that dominant for that short time?

No snowflake here, hell I'm to the right of Rush  on politics and about as old school as it gets.  Ya, your other post was just that bad.

Highest win % ever!? How’d you come up with that? I’m not to good at math.😏
