How many factory riders left?

I think I count 6, if you count Roczen but not McElrath or Chiz. All 3 Austrian brands now without a rider the last couple rounds and maybe longer. And who would have thought after the last few years that K Roc would be one of only 3 factory riders to finish every main? Just him Sexton and Tomac I believe.

Sexton and Nichols

Tomac

Roczen

AC and JA

Roczen, McElrath, and Chisholm all have the same equipment. Hard to classify one as "factory" but not the other two. It would be easier to classify Roczen as non-factory since there isn't really a factory part on the bike...or you have to classify all three as factory based on HEP's sole status with Suzuki in the class.

Thank god Ferrandis and Lawrence are coming in outdoors. It’s getting thin.

Thanks, I wasn't honestly sure how it all worked over there with factory support or not. So if we take Ken out, that is really only 5.

I would assume, plessinger, Webb will be back for outdoors as well.  And Barcia maybe. At least by round 3.

Webb isn’t racing motocross from what I’ve read.

One of the Austrian brands should give a privateer a shot at a fill-in ride for the final two rounds!

Just curious - does HEP pay for travel to the events for all 3 riders, and do they get the same accommodations?   For that matter, does HRC, Star, Monster Kawi, etc. pay travel costs?

On most teams the staff all stay in the same hotel, with the team booking the rooms and the staff booking their flights and then being reimbursed for travel costs.

On some teams, the riders travel is directly paid for by the team but most teams, especially higher end ones, just negotiate a per race travel per diem with the rider. A lower level ride on a.m big team might get $800 per weekend or so, and I’ve heard as high as $3,000 per weekend. But I’m sure it ranges wider than that. The riders can then choose however they want to spend that to get to the race and how they want to stay at the races.

Are there times their per diem doesn’t cover the travel costs? Especially with how expensive some flights have gotten.

Should at least give Moranz a chance at the ride since he has been promoting the KTM group.
