It's definitely tempting to run out and get one when they come out. Such hot bike, they will be pricey and in demand.. I'm going to be patient and see how everyone likes it. It's always great when someone you know gets one so you have a chance to try it out before making the investment. But if I like it, I will be going red to blue. I always like to see the TMXS review as well..

Might be to much bottom/mid power. I like a bike to run better in the top range. I'm still riding my 4storke like a 2 stroke..

I go from my lightweight carbon fibered, titaniumed and magnesiumed out 01 YZ250F to a bone stock RM125 and the RM "feels" 30 pounds lighter. Obviously Suzuki has been practicing "mass centralization" for quite a while. Love those new buzzwords though!

That might actually be true with an '01. I rode an older YZ450F and it felt much, much heavier than my '09. I even rode an older YZ250F and it even felt much heavier than my '09.

Actually...all kiddin' aside...

I'm expecting the thing to retain all the good traits of a Yami -AND- have a lot in common w/ the new Hondas (Feeling VERY light and Agile).

So...how the hell is it that after all these years on KX's...I'm proll'y gonna be on Zooks for MX and Hondas for Off-Road?!

WTF?

You know what! I'm gonna have to get one of these Dubach-mobiles and a Katoom 150.

Anyone got $14K I can borrow?

I ordered one in Spet. and it's coming in shop on Monday. sorry, but that's in TokyoWhistling I'll go pick it up soon, but won't be able to ride for a week or so. When I do ride, will post Vet Junior impression of it. If it really feels like a 250.... or not.

Here, Most shops don't stock any MX bikes so we don't have overstocking problem of past models. Yamaha is releasing 2010 YZ450 as every year. I think 2010 CRF450 is already out too, but can't tell because they look like 09.

I used to hate this "order a bike, and wait months to get one" system, but this time it worked in my favor.

The 245 lb rating for the 2010 YZ450F is WET weight. That means all fluids, including gas, full. The last time Yamaha used a wet weight rating was 2003. The ’03 YZ450F was rated at 249 lbs wet. The ’04 model, that was identical to the ’03 except the graphics, was rated at 220 lbs dry. I’m guessing the real weight of the new bike is very close to the current one.

Also, you guys coming to the desert anytime soon to ride AJ's track. He fixed it up nice this past weekend. Basically a replica of Atlanta SX last year.
Weston said this bike is a A plus handles good, fast, corners good, he really liked it he's going to ride it again on Saturday. I think were going to AJ,s next week.

Good. Thanks for the update. Let me know if you guys make it. Going to Ocotillo this weekend to do a little open riding, but have been wanting to get out to AJ's, just hate going alone. Maybe I can give Weston a few pointers.... ;-)

Jesus H. Keerist, you can't tell the difference in weight between a 125 and a 450?

Wet or dry, 245lbs is HEAVY for an MX bike. My how people have forgotten what mx bike used to weigh. The weight just keeps creeping up and some people don't seem to realize what's happening. Don't get me wrong, I think the new YZ450 is a slick piece, but I just don't understand how and why these weights became acceptable.

No joke, and Yamaha was quite proud of their new casting technology several years back allowing them to cast pieces a lot lighter (40%) yet be stronger than previously possible.

If I had won both Pro motos like Weston I think I would like it too! :-)

Good seeing you LouDog!

UPDATE: Yamaha has one thousand YZ450Fs for the United States....they will get rid of those in no time flat IMO. If you snooze you lose!

Slick marketing. "It feels so much lighter out on the track" etc etc. Anyone reading the (big 4 sponsored) mx mags for a few years will be able to repeat the cliches without too much effort.

Wait until one lands on you. The centralized mass won't feel "so much lighter out on the track" then...

It will feel like a 245 lb. pig, which is what it is...

At least resale will be good though, uhhh - wait a minute....

Back when I had the option for either (I had an '03 250 and my Dad had an '04 450) I thought the weight and nimbleness was really to my advantage. Then when I actually gave the 450 a chance I was simply faster on it despite the weight and my own distaste for them. Now with the latest 450s I'm far faster than I ever dreamed of on 2-strokes, and so are most of the guys I race with (+25 and +30A guys that grew up on 2-strokes like I did). I remember the 2-stroke fondly but despite the weight or any other problems people can come up with you simply can't compete again former AMA pros who race around here on one. If I just practiced on the weekends maybe things would be different, I'd get a 250 and bolt all kinds of titanium shit on it. But if you're going to race don't bring a knife to a gun fight.

Accurate summary.
