Didn't you know? The barren Arizona desert is the only place in the country that had recent rain, flowers, and springtime. Phoenix was in the direct path of a precision long-distance pine tree pollen attack. Glad it wasn't worse, because I've never seen a pine tree before coming from the northeast.
This fucking site sometimes, man 😂
As funny as that is there's some truth to that. Is there one person on here that thinks the Chinese are concerned what goes into their fireworks?
And yes the haze initially started when they shot off all the FIREWORKS! Combine that with the TOXIC fumes from RACE FUEL and you have a bad combo.
It was just a big cloud of SMOKE that spread and they kept the freaking retractable roof CLOSED!
What kind of idiots are running the show when they have a million dollar roof that opens and they shoot off fireworks and keep it closed?
Well they were concerned to roll the grass out at least.
You can see the haze slightly in this picture.
Mine too....
I am having the same issues. I woke up Sunday morning and my wife said I looked extremely hungover which I wasn't. I am shocked they didn't open the roof all the way at least for the night show.

Thanks for that picture and yes the cloud plume got much worse as the fireworks continued on.
Why they do this and keep the roof closed makes no sense.
Went to the Suns game yesterday and they shoot off fire and flames but no fireworks.
The staff is not that dumb I guess at Footprint Center arena.
I had a couple buddies with me that went to Indy the week before, and we were all at Detroit. No symptoms, we were row 17. I did notice the fuel smell more than I normally do at Lucas Oil but it wasn't near as bad as some arenacross' I've been to. Maybe it is higher seats (What row were you?)?
Six of us all had blazed eyes and got stuffy
This wasn’t allergies. My wife and I have gone to every SX held in Glendale. I work out in the desert everyday. Wife has really bad seasonal allergies but was 100% fine before the night show. We both are still very ill from whatever the problem was. The roof should have been opened more. Someone at Feld or State Farm stadium dropped the ball. Even back at the hotel that night and yesterday morning, EVERYONE was looking terrible and complaining of these symptoms.
By the time I got back to our hotel, i couldn't breath out of my nose at all!! Completely congested. Then Sunday morning, it felt like I had a cross between gravel and acid in my eyes....and they were super red. I actually had a dentist appointment this morning, and she asked "have you been sick? your throat is super red!"
I'm curious, has there been any mention from the Teams or Riders having any of these issues?
Will Hahn posted on Twitter about being jacked up from it.
WTF, seriously. They can't be poisoning tens of thousands of people!
Did you see barcia at the post race presser ??
That is so strange that with a firework show like they have at Supercross, they'd keep the roof almost completely closed, it's not as if there was a threat of rain in Phoenix on Saturday night. I don't trust ANYTHING! that comes out of China and if those fireworks come from there, who knows what kind of chemicals they use to mix together in those rockets. First they bombard the world with a Biological Covid Bomb and now maybe they're attacking America with Fireworks made out of poisonous substances. No wonder they didn't want to shoot down that Chinese Balloon over America, that thing could have been filled with the latest and most lethal variant of Covid for all we know.
Watching the race replay now.
Even at the start of the 1st 250 moto, the place looked like a fog bank had rolled in.
White.
Not the green haze of pollen.
Not the brown color of track dust.
But at that time could there have been enough moto action on track to cause enough fumes to give so many people such a bad reaction ??
Who made the pyrotechnics ??
I was at the event and I my eyes started burning pretty bad after the second set of races.
Bunk weed?
I don’t think it was the pyrotechnics. I noticed my eyes burning during qualifying, hours before the opening ceremony started.
I kept waiting for the sun to go down...thinking that they would open it then...but nope...never touched it.
Pit Row
You make a valid point we went to the daytime practice and qualifying As soon as you entered the stadium it hits you like a ton of bricks and for 2 seconds I like the smell of napalm errrr I mean Race Fuel. After that it got real old fast.
So after Qualifying we went back out to the Van to barbecue, by the time we re-entered the stadium my eyes were already bloodshot red and slight burn not nearly as bad as later that night and next day.
But I'm sure shooting off Chinese fireworks with a barely cracked open roof did not help any because the LARGE plume of smoke from the opening ceremonies stayed the whole event.
I have not been to the Glendale supercross since the 1st one as our crew had an awesome tailgate spot at Chase field and weren't happy with the LONG drive from the east Valley.
I don't think I'll be going back if it's gonna be like this again.
To the other guys who have been to the Glendale Supercross on a regular basis is this the 1st time you've experienced the burning red eye sensation?
Someone who knows the big-wigs of Feld really need to be alerted of this buffoonery.
Do they check fuel for oxidizers? Toluene ,benzine . if no testing is going on I'd be running a tricked fuel, easiest way to make horsepower.
Dust would show up when blowing a snot rocket.
I’ve been to every event they’ve held there, plus the previous 6 or 8 downtown. I’ve never experienced this before in either venue. Then again, I don’t think I’ve ever been there this time of year. I feel like it was a perfect storm type of scenario and, PS: my eyes are still burning.
Valid point about the snot rockets. I did shoot off a couple but wasn’t able to properly inspect them.
We sat in the upper 400 section at Indy and upper at Detroit... worst place I guess.
In years past, the pyro smoke dissipated quickly but this year it hung in the air at both venues. Makes me think the air handlers were not working properly....
Wasn't a one time thing. Had this issue the first time they held a race at this stadium. Year after I sat at the bottom and didn't have an issue.
They should move this race back to the ballpark!
For all who are claiming this as "allergies" are f'n morons! You have a dome filled with toxic fumes with a supposed professional crew running the show and you do not open the roof to relieve the mass of cloudy gasses??
According to Team Green the negative pressure from the slight crack in the roof pulled in all the pollen around the stadium to wreck havoc on all the race goers and kept all the residents of the area not in attendance safe from the pollen 😂
Almost like we could use some media to get to the bottom of this 🤷♂️
Were the tunnels open when the roof was opened, If not the roof open only doesn’t do much? For a “natural draft”, that would matter, there needs to be an air inlet to create draft as the hot air rises.
in saying all that, over 40ish years of attending SX races I have had similar symptoms as being described happen a few times from different locations. I’m pretty sure they teeter on the exposure limits at these events. Not necessarily a single point exceedence level but more on the Time Waited Average exposure limit.
Buddy and I went to the races and sat in the 400 section. Buddy had red eyes and complain about his lungs, eyes and throat, but he does drink Budweiser and mascow mules. I felt ok, but suffered boredom after six boring TCM (triple crown mains).
So over the years there has been hundreds maybe even thousands of races and I have never heard of this happening until it happened for the first time last year at minneapolis (I think it was).
Now come this year and theres been no complaints all year until last weekend and now you have dozens and dozens of ppl all saying the exact same thing after that race.
Something is clearly happening to where you hear absolutely nothing after each race and then all of a sudden everybody is in agreeance that something went wrong and caused ppl issues at 2 specific races.
Feld owes it to the fans to get to the bottom of this and to let ppl know what the problem was and how theyre going to remedy it. Now that it has happened again this shows that this wasnt just some 1 time fluke last year thats never going to happen again. Now we are starting to see a pattern and ppl are going to be worried about it happening again moving forward. This needs to be investigated, fixed, and the fans assured it wont happen again. That shouldnt be too much to ask at all ppl dont want their kids getting sick at a fun family event. I have full confidence feld can fix the situation they just need to be transparent about it.
Feld employees on here posting dust and allergies caused this. Hilarious.
