Anyone remember Traxx in the poconos? It got turned into a golf course probably 20 years ago now but that was such a fun place. I think there was 3 different full sized tracks, plus a kids track and some woods trails.

Challenger was always my favorite track as well.  The layout kinda reminded me of Red Bud a little bit and you could see the entire track from the area on top by the tower.  The jumps were all very safe...  except maybe the series at the finish line.  Those were a little sketchy on an 80 and I had a few close calls in there.

I agree. The layout was just so fun, in and out of that valley. And yes, most jumps were pretty safe but that cut-out step-down after the finish was a bit sketchy. I had some sketchy moments myself, including when someone in front of me cased it (jumping from the inside) and I railed the outside and almost landed on them after the shot over to the right side (after casing.) Also, my friend got hurt on that being the 1st moto after intermission. They watered it and it was a hot, baked day and it was really slick. The dirt there was always the main complaint, but still was a cool track. A shame that it is gone.

Raced Tommy tenders at pagoda  , he’s in the alias gear, got all 4 hole shots that day and won 250 . Happy ramblers is fun too. Breeze wood seems like a good facility but it attracts too many sketchy people .

Mapleshade nowadays is not as great as it used to be however I love how they have open practice days regularly. In WNY, you have to pay a $400+ for a pass for some practice days. Rarely open practice days to the public. I still attend Mapleshades to this day. I would love to try MX Acres!

Traxx was at Jack Frost Ski Area.  It is just an empty field now.

Bushkill Valley was also known as Freemansburg MX, since it is located near Freemansburg.  Bushkill Valley was the name of the Motorcycle Club that ran it.  They stopped doing MX in the 90's.  They still have the hillclimbs there.  Yes, it was pretty crazy for an MX track since it was built on the side of the same hill as a Pro Hillclimb.. lol.

MX Acres is worth it. Great flow and fun layout. Jumps work for all skill levels. The dirt/prep is nice too. Great owner who takes care of the riders.

MXAcres is great.  I am big fan.  The owner is pure moto, busts his ass on the track.

Best PA track that's gone, Steel City.

Best PA practice track right now, MX Acres.

We aren't anything special we are a very very very small track, non-profit club of volunteers, we are ECR Motocross in Kersey, PA. If you ever in our area and want to check us out we are on facebook. Nothing special, no pro track, more geared towards the kids and getting them started. All us that volunteer there its where we started riding and hate to see the track go away.

Living around Pittsburgh is just terrible now. No Steel City, High Voltage, Plum Creek, Challenger, Pittsburgh Raceway. Creekside MX just shut down. High Point and Pleasure Valley don't really have many practice days. Basically any public track to ride during the week is 1.5-2 hours away, which makes it difficult to ride after work. Whenever someone is willing to open up their land for a public/ private track, the neighbors sue them.

Last year I saw that a place named Pine Hills was supposed to open up in Norther Cambria, PA. MX Track Builders did the track and have photos on IG, but I cannot find any info about it being open.

The state also awarded grant money to revive an old track in Glassport, PA. I know there were meetings about it, but have not hear of any updates in about a year.

Anyone have any info on these two possible new tracks?

Back in the late 90s I raced at a Arenacross-style track in Kersey. It had a rubber-band start and there were some fast guys there (Ritter was in Schoolboy, Scott Smith - who I went with- was in 125A and 250A.) It was pretty sweet. I practiced there 1 other time on a week night in the summer, while I was staying at a friends house. Is this the same track/property? If not, do you know the track I am referring to? I honestly don't know much about it. I was just friends with some guys in Clarion (Scott and a few other guys) who would take me up there. Always wondered if that place was still around.

Speaking of up in that general area, anyone remember the old Fox Raceway in Marienville? It was in the Heuvos quad Movie. That track was awesome. I loved that place, as a kid.

ECR Raceway in Kersey. Thats the place 387. That is the track you are thinking of.

They are on FB and are going to open again and have outlaw races again like back in 2007 when they closed.......

Rick was a great announcer.  I loved going there with my boy, and that's where he first raced.

Ricko, you must be Rick's son.  Last I saw you guys was at Etown in 2006 at KROC.  We parked beside you there.

I'm still racing and live behind ClubMX.  Tell your dad Rick he was one of the best announcers. I think about him and his business every once in a while.  I went past that place 2 years ago when I was driving to a AHRMA race in NY, and took some pictures.   I'm glad it is opening up again.  Tell Big Rick hello for me.  Man, we are all getting old.  50 years of racing

Yes  that place still has a national hillclimb.

Back in the early 80's when bikes had drum brakes, it was very hard to stop at the bottom of the hill while in the woods.  It started out good, but soon went downhill.  Very hard to prep a steep hillside with a tractor without flipping.  And watering it made it very slick.

They would line 10 to 15 hay bales 2 and 3 high at the bottom big hill before the finish. Half way through the day the  bales were all exploded and we turned at the bottom of the trees  using them and the remaining straw as a berm.  It was ok and cool for about 1 moto then it was really sketchy and then participation went to zero in the next few events

They tried again about 10 years later and it had the same results.  I heard someone was killed there and they never had another mx race( well, maybe Ahrma.org in the field) but I don't know if the death was true.  I only went there 2 times in life 83.  Nobody liked it. Not even the experts

That’s it in kersey, that’s where I grew up racing. That’s crazy you rode there, but yup arenacross style. We are trying to keep it going for our kids and the future generation. Ritters a good friend of mine.

I totally blanked out on fox raceway. That was my favorite track ever in the early 2000s, night races were the best.

One race I was waiting for my moto and we watched someone ride a horse DOWN the hill climb, wild stuff.  But yeah, once water hit the track it was ice.

Just kidding, that placed SUCKED. DId a LL qualie there in 1995 and it was beyond garbage.

Evansville used to be awesome. Nowadays I am not so sure.

Good old Trail Way Speedway!! That was the site of my very first motocross race- so it holds a special place in my heart at least for that...!! It was late 1979 (officially allowing me to say I raced in the "70's") and I was on an XR-75. I actually "won" my first race too... And just like I did with my elementary school classmates that following day after the race- I will leave out the "small details" of the fact that there was only one other kid in the class and he was also on an XR-75. I think he crashed or broke because the last time I saw him was on the starting gate. I'll also leave out the fact that we stagger-started with a faster class of kids on YZ/RM/KX-80's that absolutely smoked us in a cloud of dust.... Anyway - I won my first race at Trail Way Speedway...!!! LOL!!

Does anyone have fond memories of cleaning the shredded plastic chips from underneath fenders and caked under your countershaft spocket?

Does anyone miss King-Kong hill? Night racing in the oval-track? Taking the checked flag on the dirt-track portion of the track and keeping the gas wide open and laying it sideways around the first corner like a flat-tracker? "Big Dave" and his little side-kick in the referee shirt on a non-stop power trip (can't recall his name) and their no-nonsense approach to parking, getting out of line, or in general- making sure all rules were followed??

We had a job at work a couple years ago in Hanover and I swung by... It was still there and looked exactly the same, but no signs whatsover that motocross ever existed there...

Of course when you are talking PA motocross history and Trail Way Speedway- don't forget about the Motorama Indoor races at the Farm Show Arena in Harrisburg. The sheer number of racers that attracted in the 80's was insane! The Mid-Atlantic, Northeast, New England and Canada managed to make it out for a chance at 5 minutes of glory in a smoke filled arena on the earliest version of an Arenacross track.

Besides it frequently being the first race of your new-model year bike and gear- it was also awesome to see the top guys in all those areas come out to race. I had Mad Mike Jones take me out in a corner one year... Good times and great memories reading about some of these PA tracks I also raced at...!!

This Track is 3 min from my parents house. It is super nice looks Fun as hell. I never got my son on it yet had the chance just never worked out with timing. Had a couple friends out there this week and it looked nice and rutty.

It is still a private track at this point. still talking about going public but its kind of going to be like you got to know someone to get in not going full business mode with it.

Man I would love to open a track just north of Easton PA.  Big hole in geography but could capture everyone from NW NJ and NE PA.  Another District 6 track which would be great for the district.  Right by rt. 33, 78, and 80

I'm 10 minutes from Easton so please let me know when that happens.Wink

I really miss MX573 & Jack Frost. We pretty much stick to trips out to Breezewood or the occasional races at Sleepy Hollow now.

If you do any earthmoving activity over more than 1 acre you have to get a permit and possibly engineering services. This is all because of stormwater runoff into the Chesapeake Bay.

It looks sweet. I was just scrolling online and I think it was MX Track builders and I saw the track listed, it stuck out because Northern Cambria is on the way to our farm/track.

Motorama was just a few weeks ago and the carnage videos have been making the rounds....LOL

Pagoda is very cool, they just add so big jumps the layout includes multiple elevation changes , you jump in and out of the valley , you have off camber turn , screw you turn section too!! The dirt is awesome when it's prepped on practice and ride days , when it's just right it's got so much grip it's like Velcro

Anyone remember Rausch Creek? I miss that place like crazy.

I miss Rausch Creek deeply.   One of the rare places with options for different kinds of riding.
