480 acres or 35 acres

Calif by far. My family has 400 acres about 3 miles from there by crow. Pretty hard to beat the weather and terrain in general of that area.

Even if both were 35 acres, still Calif.  If you stay away from big cities, Calif beats pretty much everywhere in every way.

Amazing area by Los Olivos/Solvang, 1h from Santa Barbara. 500 acres, that's an offroad heaven. Dirt bikes, enduro riding, side by side, you could even build some great single tracks for eMTB. The buyer just needs to find a mid 90s CR250 and to listen to Disconnected by Face to Face in loop! In the other end, North Carolina & 30 acres...

The only good thing cool about North Carolina is Fort Bragg.

I would consider not being California another good thing.

How funny the vote is heavily california.

Most the people that shit on california have never lived in california, especially in a place within an hour of the beach.

I'm obviously not a fan of Cali, but even id choose 400 acres lol.. if it was apples to apples, I'd pick the Carolinas for sure.

There are few place more perfect for motocross than California's coastal range greened-up during winter and spring.

My sentiments exactly. The Deegan compound is easily replicated, just bring money. As bad as Cali sucks you can't duplicate the terrain of Castillo and the cool history not to mention it is huge and has a way higher potential property value.

I voted for the Castillo Ranch. Like the previous posts, you really can't beat that area as far as the weather and scenery. Only problem with Castillo is it needs $1Mil in renovations/maintenance. Very dated, and not a lot of facility maintenance done in a while.

It’s central California, it’s not LA or San Francisco. It’s 45 minutes from Santa Barbara and 90 minutes from Ventura, two really nice areas to stay.

There’s a lot more to California than the two shit hole areas that attract all the tourists and homeless. When people from California vacation in California, they don’t go to LA or San Diego.

If $ is no object and you don't care about overall politics, taxes, fuel prices (if you have unlimited $ you probably don't) then it's no comparison and Castillo is the way to go.  That whole place looks very dated though, so would need a lot more than the asking price.

$7M for 480 acres of pristine California land near Santa Barbara will be worth double that in 10 years.

if you like to do anything off road, then its hard to beat cali.  there are free riding spots all over the place, the weather is almost always good, and outside of the cities the people are actually pretty cool.

The place he listed belongs to John Wayne.

Obviously, I'm not so dense as to think the whole state is in a state of squalor. It is just the political climate of the state that would drive me nuts. To tell you the truth it bums me out because there are a few places I've visited that really talked to me and California was one of them. I visited San Fran in 2001 and it was a beautiful city, and the San Fran of 2001 is probably my favorite city I've ever visited.

I want everyone that’s talking crap about California to know that you are absolutely correct: it’s terrible!

Don’t come here.

You’ll hate it!

The only complaint I would have for CA would be the soil. The dirt you guys have on the west coast is just terrible (compared to the east/midwest). I guess if you have got the coin you could truck in some real dirt. Although some of the CA tracks appear to have real dirt.

I would take Castillo all day just for the shear size of the property.
