Is that really the perception outside of the US? I don't feel like the foreign riders have any more detractors than the domestic riders. I think you have to go back to Pourcel to find a truly unpopular foreign rider, and maybe JMB before him?

That being said on the spectrum of popularity of foreign riders I have a feeling Hunter will be close to the bottom.

You're no "great" American for doing something like that.  You're just an ignorant asshole.

How do you flip off Marvin?

Human scum.

Spot on…. The anti American sentiment rolls heavy outside of the US

International riders are typically fully embraced by Americans minus a few who sometimes bring it on themselves.  But this happens to American riders too….

I mean really, there’s never any Barcia or Anderson abuse posted, right??

Big fan of Jett, Hunter and Jo.  And Tom!!

Yeah that was/still is really shitty and pretty heartbreaking so see that picture.

That dude is just so angry (and probs drunk)...similar happened to Ferrandis...but not just limited to international riders.

That pic of James with his mother next to those yokels being abused as he went by is burned into my brain.

Indoor s underrated. Outdoor s overrated . I don't know how many time s I ve heard that he finished second in a mxgp championship ( he was never near that ) . When people talk about all his wins . Go look at his record outdoor s you will be very surprised at his results . They are not nearly as good as you would think . On his day he is brilliant outdoor s .but has loads of off day s too. Jett DNf ed a round and still beat him easily last year . Imo if a 100% j coop and j mart turn up . Hunter won't even get close imo

he also beat J.coop last year too? What put J.Coop over Hunter?

J.Coop needs to learn to win coming from behind if he wants that outdoor title. With out a start he's no where to be seen.

You mean j coop who was coming back from a terrible injury . I said a 100% j coop .  I'd say  j mart from championships years  or year he battled DF14 I think he runs away with the championship. Even from j coop .But I am very uncertain we see that j mart .  he has  been the most disappointing rider out of anyone this year. Daytona was shocking

My opinion is they get fully embraced but almost like it's a probation period haha and if and when the foreign rider does something that American fans don't like or something to an American rider they cop way more hate than if an American rider did the same.. Marvin hit Tomac once for a race win and that guy in that picture did that months and months later.. Same with Ferrandis and now with Hunter!

It's prob not disproportionate to other countries but it's just I'm more involved in the American scene haha.. That said it's not cool and I'd love for it not to be the case

Hunter Lawrence MXON 2017

2017 MX2 MXON win was no fluke! Smoked Osbourne in his prime.

What Dylan should have done was wave at them....   Nothing pisses someone off more when they're flipping you off and you smile and wave at them.

lol

I was sort of indifferent regarding Ferrandis, but that picture made me a huge fan. I recall on Vital he got about 95% support 5% criticism after that picture was posted.

I feel like Hunter is properly rated for the most part. Everybody knows he's very very good and probably the second best 250 rider in America right now behind his brother (although Shimoda and a healthy JCoop are in that mix as well). Likewise, he's not quite on the same level as Jett in being as special of a talent. I wouldn't be surprised if Jett was battling for a few moto wins this summer (no I don't think he'll win the title). However, I see Hunter as being more of a 5-7 guy when he first moves up to the 450s and eventually getting more comfortable and being a podium guy.

Never said it was a fluke. I said on his day he is brilliant . But he has tons of days where he is not . Go look at his results . He is still a very good rider that is top 5 easy with race wins .  But people compare him to Jett outdoor s . That's just bull. Maybe he will be more consistent outdoor s this year . But if he is the same guy . J coop, j mart , Joe and vaille  finish ahead of him

hunter and jo will be the favourites for the 250 outdoor title this year.....vialle and j coop are sure to be in the mix.
