I realize there is a post already for this game. But I am hoping Milestone has a better chance at reading this info if I post this individually. I hope that's ok? This is not meant to flame them. Not the typical hate post. But an attempt to appeal to their thought process in regards to selling a totally broken game to the masses with no explanation thus far. I just want to see a great game.
After six attempts, it is my opinion that the stock tracks are the best they have been. In the past the scale, the design, the spacing was just wonky. This should have been MES1's look from the beginning. But much welcomed this time around. The menus are snappy and this is the quickest loading game to date. Props on that.
The best bike handling physics to date with two exceptions. In an attempt to slow it down the bike no longer slides the rear tire around the corners. And in some cases the bike turns like the rear tire is staked down and the front tire slides around in a very unnatural and awkward looking maneuver. Also the auto twin stick whip is not a feature anyone wants. Nobody likes it. It just complicates the game as it auto whips while we are racing. If you must keep it for one reason or another, give us the ability to turn it off.
This game should have a huge online community. Keeping the players forced into a box is bad. By disallowing custom lobby names, public lobbies for custom tracks, online tourneys for custom tracks, you are stifling the growth and the online presence. More of these = More game sales. It's almost like there is an effort to force the players to ONLY play the stock tracks.
This track editor has gone backward since MES2. This version in MES6 is the worst. Here is the list. The stadiums are too small. Ok, the large ones do work fine. But the little one is too small. And no tri-oval speedway layouts. Is this not a SUPERCROSS game replicating the actual series?
The editing courser use to auto advance as well as cross over from the end of the track to the start without having to single click your way all the way around in order to make modifications. You can no longer edit any part of the track that has already been laid down. You now have to delete everything you have created in order to go move a jump a few spaces or lay a new on over it. This just happened with this version. Need to make all objects reversible. Need to be able to make the long flat whoop convert to sand. Still need to make more starts with no 30 foot run up to it. The one you added last year is great. But it looks like garbage. It needs to resemble the other other ones. Big and lippy. Still no elevated turns. Still no right hand starts. Still no starts with little berms on them. Didn't you have a track editor contest once? Isn't the editor a big part of your game?
As the game plays right now there are major texture map and lighting issues. The 4 new dirt colors are broken. The custom track texture maps show large square blocks of dark dirt mixed with lighter dirt so two maps are being pulled into the environment. Some texture maps look like a Levi 301 zipper running all over the place. The track texture maps in the editor should define the track on top of the base texture map. Some custom tracks have very very dark lighting that makes it look like I have a flashlight taped to my front fender. So the 3D rendering is broken. To this day you can not name a custom track San Diego. Been like this the last 2 versions. Try it search " San Diego" nothing comes up. So I made mine "SPX SanDiego" with no spaces and it allowed that.
Hiding peoples names on the back of their jerseys in public lobbies needs to go. Just make certain words not show up if that's what you are trying to do. Again limiting player personalization limits their interest. The fonts used for our custom names and numbers needs to be updated.
I am 55 years old. Been playing every SX/MX game since the beginning. I have made thousands of tracks from MCM1 to today. I have a vision that one day we will all get an incredible game. And Milestone you are very close. But I can't say I completely understand why you allowed this version to be released with so many problems. I understand there may be updates coming. And this is my hope, that you address all of the issues so we feel like we got what we paid for.
Good day.
Spode , you are a legend in the MX/ SX game land. We used to run into each other back in the day every now and then in the race rooms ( VDR_Kaw503 was my name back then ).
I had issues with MES 3 , mostly with the first person view sucked. I loved MES 2 and the FPV. What do you think of that particular thing in 3 , 4 , 5 and now 6?
Because people will still buy it regardless. I gave up on this franchise long ago. If they can actually show gameplay footage that shows improvement on the biggest issues the game has had since day 1, I will give them another chance. So tired of reading “the game will be better at release and not have these jarring issues anymore!” and then it’s copy + paste from the previous game. It looks pretty, they’ve polished a turd. Unfortunately playing with shit still isn’t fun.
Of course bro I remember you. MCM2 those were the days. Hope all is good with you!
That's the thing for sure, "playing it is still fun"... LoL. I have weekly battles with my friends till we are dying laughing. Stuff-fests.

It’s crazy mcm2 is still the best moto game ever created. I’ve tried MES and the newer mx vs atv branded games. They just don’t cut the mustard.
It is excellent in 6. It’s all I play these games in.
When Spode talks about a SX video game especially the track creator you know it's legit. Like Jeffro said Spode is a legend. MCM2 allowed you to do some crazy jumps but somehow Spode was able to make SX replica tracks that simply wouldn't allow it. You had to slow down to go fast and rode like an actual real SX track.
Even though you could do such insane jumps with a joystick, the physics seemed way more natural. The way the bike moved in the air, how you could do smooth realistic whips, I struggle to understand how 20+ years later they can't do better or even match it. Plus the track creator allowed way more options and customization even though Dillo (or Dillo2) could be a major bitch to work with. I really miss just cranking up my stereo and plugging away for hours in photoshop creating maps, creating custom bike skins and track objects, etc. I've tried messing around with the MES track creator but couldn't really get into it.
Pretty much what we get with 99% of games now, no matter what genre. It’s ridiculous that we’ve got to a point where releasing unfinished games and updating as we go is normal especially with the technology we have today compared to the 80s, 90s and early 2000s. Remember when games were released completely finished and ready to go?
First Person View with eyes rolling left and right, up and down, or is that the riders head? hell i dont know but it needs to be re-evaluated.
MXGP3 has been hands down the best milestone release yet, or mxgp 2020 in my opinion.
Hard to think its getting worse instead of getting better...
I loved MXGP Pro.
I will list my positives and negatives for 6 compared to 5 so far after 4 hours of game play.
Positives.
Easier menu to navigate, better graphics, faster load time, dirt looks better, non Covid full track schedule, SX Park > Compound, in air control of bike, AI doesn’t go full on Bam Bam/courtesy, straight rhythm attack is fun, split screen is a good addition, leaderboard is better
Negatives.
braking and throttle feels clunky, the game should have the 23 roster not last years, drifting is no bueno this year, holeshots are way too restrictive, generic music, mud races are still to dark, rhythms can still turn into really large whoops
About the same.
track editor, add ons, skill tree, customizations
Huh, clicked on this thread because I thought a miracle was in the making and the track was going to open again. Oh well.
Um,
Non moto
It is moto. Feel free to leave the thread...
I agree with Spode on this. The glitches and issues are pretty bad right now. I do like some of the changes but the number of problems the game has right now should never happen.
I think they are moving this game to a FIFA/Madden type of games where they just do fine tuning here and there, update the riders, bikes, tracks and ready to roll.
I have this game and to this point i can say is worthless, track editor is the same as the last 3 games, stock tracks are super rounded and small and the physics are just what they have been since MES3...
I don't use the editor a lot but I agree with what was mentioned. Why not just make the starts customizable? The presets are odd at times.
I miss being able to hold the back brake and spin out the rear. Very useful in close battles and I realize how much I use it now that it's missing.
Also fix the shading/lighting/graphics. At speed the tracks get washed out.
Problem is Milestone really doesn’t care. If they did they would have fixed some of the issues we see year after year. People complain about all these things every year but all we get from them is crickets.
They have been doing this the whole time.
Pit Row
For the most part you are correct. However, I pleaded with them for a finish line with no run up, a 4 foot roller whoop, 1/2 lane whoops and jumps and a few other things. And they actually delivered. So there is a teensy weensy chance my newest plea will be heard.
I just don't get the same enjoyment creating tracks as I used to. It was so much fun in photoshop how you could really shape and mold the jumps, whoops, berms, etc. exactly how you wanted instead of just picking from a stock set of options. Seeing it slowly come together and the tedious "import map, test, adjust, re-import, test" was the thrill for me. The MES games are still really fun to play and I appreciate our little niche sport having a decent game to play but for $60+ every year for such minor improvements won't get me to bite.
I hope you are right. 😀
Can they get the license to do outdoors to make the full smx season next year?
And Just do last years track models with the New Years roster…it’s not that hard
Dude I still have some of your mcm1 tracks on an old hard drive from my pc. Wild
I can’t play the most current MES. The moto side of the series peaked at mxgp3, the supercross side peaked with the first MES1 for me, 2 was not bad but didn’t care for the bike weight in the turns. I don’t get how they had some ruts in MXGP3 then it just disappeared in all the other games. That’s one of the reasons people love Reflex and it’s constantly brought up. Pro had potential but there’s a laundry list of issues on that game, invisible walls was one of them.
I bought MES5 and I absolutely couldn’t stand the way it plays, they made it near impossible to jump big rhythms etc. I didn’t get 6 and it’s the 1st one I’m not gonna buy. I have Mx bikes, it’s a lot of fun just a big learning curve and the multiplayer isn’t there yet for ease of access compared to MES/MXGP.
I do appreciate the work they put in to bring us games every year and I know they are contracted to do it yearly, but wish they could right the ship in the proper direction.
I think I've heard somewhere that could be something coming in the future but first mx sports had to not renew the license with Rainbow Studios so that Milestone could do the whole thing and that's why they stopped doing the MXGP game last year but we'll see
I have to agree with everything you said, but would also add that the AI is so slow in this game that it makes it almost pointless to play the career mode.
Is it really that big of a deal to click on a thread, realize you don't care, and then exit out of it?
Next year if they include all the SX and MX tracks that would get me to buy it. I would hope now with the series essentially partnered together this shouldn't be a stretch. Plus the whole new "Supermotocross" format with the playoffs would be cool in the game. If they don't enhance the actual gameplay I'd at least buy it for these additions.
6 is a massive improvement from 5 in terms of playability. I’ve been playing it almost every night since it came out and it is a lot of fun to flow around the tracks.
I just don’t understand the hate for the game if you’ve actually played it and you’re playing in first person.
