The TV coverage alone! MX gets Live, Same day or next day coverage but the US Open of SX is relegated to lame next week coverage.

SX is on a national channel. I would like to see MX move to a national channel. I didnt get to see one live MX this year. It's a step but you have to have Speed Channel and then hunt it down when its on. I wish they would re-run the races more often.

i can't even explain how awesome it was to watch 2 30min+2 motos. after being regulated to watching 15min mains in sx, I said it before i'll say it again, sx mains need to be at least 30 laps! these guys are the best in the world with unbelievable bikes under them. why not give their fitness test. these extraordinary athletes are not even breaking sweets with 20 lap mains. 15 min mains really? the fans need to get more value for their dollar too, 30 laps = about 22-25 min why not?

Because we all grow up riding MX and only go to the stadium to watch the Circus. Smile

Note: I do watch the Circus all the time to.

It's pretty much always been on a cable channel, so we didn't lose much there.

We did seem to lose some ground in re-runs. Used to air the races atleast twice. I missed more than one because they only showed it once.

Last year there was 3 or 4 live sx races and it was shown next day almost every week so I'm not sure what you're talking about. A1 sx was live and Daytona sx was live also Las Vegas sx was live. I'm pretty sure there was one other sx that was live to. Every other SX was aired the Sunday after the Saturday race. I can't seem to remember but I think the lites may have been a week delay but I'm not sure. I understand the want and need to whine about stuff but at least have a valid gripe.

I'm glad we have both. I think it's cool to see how some shine brighter in one or the other and some just shine regardless of the type of event. Can't wait for next race, whether it's sx or mx!!

It wouldn't be a fitness test, it would be last man standing. Survivor: SX.

He's talking about doubling the length of the main events, which to me would probably at least double the number of injuries.

Yesterday I asked someone in here if they'd ever walked a real Supercross track, either before or after a race. The thing is, there's almost nowhere to race, and the track are relentless in the number of obstacles they have to hit, precisely, every lap. I would think that as fatigue ramped up, the injuries would follow.

Someone touched on it earlier. MX is something that nearly anyone can do. Sure, you need a lot of skill, stamina, and practice to get to a decent level of proficiency. But SX is something very few of us can do. The majority of us will only watch from afar. I think that's part of why it's so easy for some in here to discount just how hard it is to do...and do well. We have a hard time relating.

The clueless wonders will be along shortly to tell you that supercross is for pussies and real men race outdoors.

Good post GuyB. IMO SX is more difficult to race on. And equally as exhausting. I think Trey Canards mom said that in a thread yesterday, and that is only 15 laps.

Making SX mains longer is silly, maybe making the 250 class 20 laps instead of 15, OK, but making the 450 class longer? No.
Most of the riders are lapped multiple times as it is, what is more laps going to accomplish other than raise the risk to the riders? The lappers are tired, fading and getting erratic and the elite guys have to negotiate through them even more?

Easy way to improve the program is a "Super Final" where the top 10 from each main race one "Super Final," 250's vs 450's, for an additional purse and points awarded to their division. Everyone gets a chance to earn more points towards their title chase and the elite 250's compete against the elite 450's for a great show.

Gotcha...so adding 1/3 to the total length.

Personally, I think it should be a timed thing. Decide the number of laps for the main event based on lap times from practice. At some tracks the lap time is near a minute long. At others, it's not much more than 45 seconds per lap. That would even out the length of the main events.

That sounds like a really good idea to me, GuyB. I'd like to see the main events last the same amount of time regardless of what the lap times are. Or maybe they could run it like a national but have the races be 20 minutes plus 2 laps or something like that.

SX is on a national channel. I would like to see MX move to a national channel. I didnt get to see one live MX this year. It's a step but you have to have Speed Channel and then hunt it down when its on. I wish they would re-run the races more often.
Didn't DC show 3 or 4 races live on NBC ?

My pity is towards the outdoors series.
Its a locals thing to get a crowd out there.
Your view of the races is only what you are willing to walk around and see.

Just like the monster truck fans though, I thoroughly enjoy sitting in an assigned seat with an 8 dollar bottle of beer in my lap eating peanuts and watching the races in comfort.

Call me lame but I spend BIG money to travel from Alaska to watch SX races.
After the Seattle mudfest a few years ago and getting rained on by a very cold rain no less, I will no longer go to any SX race that does not have a covered stadium.

I have been to several of the PHX SX races and they have been by far the best.
Unless it is a MX of Nations type dealio, I'm not going to an outdoor race.
I'm too old and beat down for that anymore.

That's pretty much why I don't like SX. It takes excellent MX'ers, chews a lot of them up and spits out wrecks - just to amuse a few thrill seeking vultures. I do admire those that are good at it but the injuries are not worth it.

Kudos to the guys who have the balls to stand up and say they want an MX only contract.

I have been to both and like both - SX is a show its glamourus and exciting with alot of hype but it would be better if they had two motos or longer racing, yoiu have to see practice to make it fully worthwhile- the best value for money though is a GP 2 days of world class outdoor racing, and outdoors is hard to beat.

Are there any statistics on injuries between MX and SX?
