Just wondering who has tried their Motorcycle Oils this Summer after sponsoring the Outdoor Nationals??

I have racers in our area that ask me about the oils and / or tell me about their experiences with them. Also some have changed over due to the fact that they did sponsor the Nationals this year. The most common statement is " I could have gone longer on the first oil change "

I will be doing a top-end in our KX 85 this weekend (it's been over a year since the last one) and Zach finished 1st in the 85JR and 2nd 85 Open in this years State Championship Series. Our 65 has not had a top end since April of 2008 and Trace finished with two 2nd place overalls. I will post photos of the piston etc., next week of what everything looks like with over a year of racing & practicing on one top-end using the Lucas Oil Semi-Synthetic 2 Stroke Oil. I will be sending the parts in to Lucas for their use and display.

No BS here, just telling you like it is.... It works..

A couple of my 2-smoke buddies have been running it for the last two years and have seen great results as well. Their top ends show virtually no signs of wear. I've decided to use it in my '82 RM250 vintage racer and it seems to work great in it also. I'm running it 28:1 with 100LL Avgas and I tore it down last week after a race and everything inside is clean as a whistle. Good stuff. The kicker for me is the $5.99 a quart price tag and it's available at the O'Reilly auto parts store down the street 7 days a week and until 9pm. That worked out great when I discovered I was out of oil at 8pm the Saturday night before my race. No problem.

I haven't tried the Pre-mix oil yet, but I have recently been running the motor oil. Started for the same reaon as cam, easily accessed. It's 8.99 a quart a little steep but seemed to work well in the motor side of the 250F. seems a little weak to be used as a tranny fluid, although it says it can be. It may be my moose clutches I also recently switched over to but the oil in the tranny seemed broken down within one ride, especially in the Two-Stroke where the clutch abuse is more.

Do you have Autozone or O'Reilly auto parts stores? They are all over Texas and they stock it.

Motodrew295, Add 10% of the Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer to your oil changes.

If it calls for 1200cc of oil then add 120cc of the HDOS with 1080cc of Motor Oil to make the 1200cc needed to do your oil change. It will not make your clutch slip.

Use the 10% formula for all you bike, atv, mower etc., etc. needs...

CamP, Glad it's working for you..!

Any questions... just ask...

I have started using it in my bikes after running it in my diesel trucks for years. The stuff is as good as it is for their commericial applications.

I'm sure they do. The headquarters is located in Corona, and I know Forrest and Morgan Lucas, AKA, the owner and his son, live in Temecula CA.

I'll try their 2-stroke oil when Klotz is out of biz. (Nothing against Lucas)

I've just been running Klotz since 1978 and never had any issues.

Hmmmmm, I must have got a bad batch of the 10-40 semi synthetic moto blend a few years ago, because it caused the clutch in my KX450 to slip like crazy, and shift like crap.
There was no way it was going into neutral either, drained it and put in Silkolene 10-40 semi syn, and all was well.

I usually just use Chevron Delo or Rotella, and change it frequently, but I might give the Lucas another chance since I seem to be the only one who had a problem with it.

I just picked some up today at O'Reily's. I went to Napa first, but they didn't have it. One of the guys there was trying to talk me into buying some oil in a pouch that they sell all the guys with chainsaws. lol. I just said no thanks and headed out. I can't wait to give it a try. Hopefully tomorrow morning.

How is he liking it? Is he working in one place or is he traveling a lot?

Trey did a wonderful thing with his Swan earnings. You did a great job with those two boys of yours.

Aaron loves it in California. He was gone from the week before Unadilla until after Steel City, but he's been "home" ever since. It's going to be hard to get him back to Oklahoma.

Thanks for the comments. They are good boys.

This is what Zach's 85 looked like when I replaced the Top End today. The reddish tint must be from the "fine" pump gas with the 10% crap added to it.....

Lucas Oil Semi Synthetic 2 Stroke Oil mixed at 32:1, also added 1 to 2 ounces of the Lucas Oil Octane Booster per gallon of pump gas.

The head wiped clean with some contact cleaner on a shop towel and some rubbing. No carbon build up what so ever.

Lucas Oil.... It works..!

Engine Ice also works great too...!

Stock Cylinder no porting....

You really don't want to run 10% ethanol pump gas in a two stroke. You are better running 100LL Avgas if you don't want to spend $10 a gallon on C12, etc. Your engine will be much cleaner and the lead will make the piston/rings last longer. 100LL runs only $3.45 a gallon at my local municipal airport.

BTW, you are getting a lot of blow-by. Did you oil the piston/rings/cylinder when you re-built the top ends of that bike?

No thanks. After seeing that I will stick with leaded race gas and Motul. I did put some Lucas gear oil in my truck.

CamP,
"Did you oil the piston/rings/cylinder when you re-built the top ends of that bike?"

I put a thin coating on the rings and bottom half of the Cylinder, then slide it back togerther....

Build it dry next time and you won't have that problem. Just oil the wrist pin bearing and rings but then wipe all he oil off the rings with a paper towel before installing them on the piston. Don't forget to de-glaze the cylinder with a ball hone or scotchbrite pad. After you deglaze it, wash it with hot soapy water then wipe it down with contact cleaner on paper towels until the paper towels don't show any residue. Pump gas runs dirty and that's why your getting the carbon deposits. I run more oil, 28:1, in my 250 and my engine still has much less carbon buildup.

CamP,
I do all that you mentioned and have re-assembled dry before too. Will have to wait to see what this new T.E. looks like next year... Going to put an hour meter on it to keep track of the running time on this T.E.

Thanks again,
Jim.
