Seriously every fucking year there's some pretty nasty crashes du to landing on them where they don't belong. Get them off of the track line them around the track. They don't need to be on landings. And take off especially in tight rhythm sections. Rant over.

Completely different from foam blocks that are put where they easily could ruin a riders night or year just from a slight crossrut. I'm not saying they need to be removed completely but having them on the face, backsides and tops of the ons and offs is just a stupid risk to me. Line them along the straight on the sides all the way up to the face but from there it should be off the jump and on the side. Just my opinin

None but I do have a cracked screen that's making it hard to type error free.

Maybe we could replace the landing blocks with the production crew members.

You’re not supposed to hit them

So, it's ok to surround the track with steel blades?

They should do that. And put radioactive sharks in a pool of acid around the track. Real deathcross season

So then these guys just start jumping off the track? Because those track markers are off the track. What happens when they jump off the track and nothing is there to slow them down and they go into another lane with other riders coming head on?

The way I see it, they’re like seat belts. Yeah they might hurt you sometimes but they do more good than bad if you really study it.

I think tuff blocks do a great job separating opposing lanes, and even in high berms. In jump ramps and landings only means higher risks to the riders.

Maybe they could do a combo, blocks to separate lanes, markers on jumps and ramps.

Both crashes last night into the tough blocks were very benign. Far from "nasty."

You're supposed to avoid the tough blocks. I can recall back to dozens of crashes where the tough blocks saved someone's ass from serious injury.

I think the tough blocks work, but it does seem like they are not necessary on takeoffs and landings and can do more damage than good.

Landings are precisely where they are beneficial. Show me a crash into tough blocks that wasn't the fault of the rider getting all cattywampus and jumping off the track. That is precisely what happened last night, twice. The tough blocks softened what would have otherwise been a much "nastier" crash.

The only time tough blocks have ever been a hinderance is where they get pulled into the track by another rider. I can recall multiple situations where the tough block got caught on a footpeg or rear wheel and was pulled into the track. I believe the covers they put on them now rip easier so they are less likely to get caught up in a bike.

In Moranz’s case, he jumped ON TO the block that was where it’s suppose to be.

Those tuff blocks are saving a lot of riders from being injured. See Tomacs crash recently.

We’re always trying to advance safety in this sport. I remember hay bales.

Tomacs cartwheel a couple weeks ago could have been much worse had he not landed on a tough block. Very unusual circumstance yes, but I'll bet he's glad it was there. I'd bet that the blocks between the lanes have slowed more bikes and prevented more bikes from going into the oncoming lane than have caused them to go into the oncoming lane.  +1 for the markers on the jumps.

There are also many instances where a rider could have rode out if they didn't land on a tuff block. But I understand there is no perfect solution, it's inherently a dangerous sport, so maybe tuff blocks are the best currently available option.
