They’re careers look pretty comparable to me. Especially when you consider how close to getting the 2020 outdoor title Adam was. Both of them would be better off giving up on SX at this point and be outdoor only if they can find a way to pay the bills doing that.

If you want to deal in "ifs, ands, or buts" then Ferrandis was close to being the 2019 250 MX Champion.
Ferrandis was riding a lot better this year and was on track to have his best season up until the Roczen incident that knocked him out which was out of his control.
I can maybe see a case for you to say AC should give up on SX, but if Dylan needs to give up on it, then a lot of other guys should have called it a career years ago.

This is a case where you're losing sight of the forrest for the trees. RolfCopter726's point is that much like AC, Dylan, with the exception of the 2021 450 National Title, is putting himself out of title contention either by crashing or getting injured. Here is your proof: Dylan was not a title threat in the 2022 sx series, and pulled out of the 2022 450 MX series before it began. Ferrandis was supposed to race the last four rounds, but ended up only racing two rounds, and he's not a title threat in the 23 sx series.
You can compare stats all you want, but at the end of the day, both riders have shown a propensity to put themselves out of title contention for most of their 450 careers so far due to either injuries or crashes.

Yeah, Dylan has hit a rough patch. Sucks to be robbed of seeing these amazing talents be healthy.

It's been 4 weeks... How much longer do you think he should take off? 14 weeks seems a bit excessive if you think outdoors is when he should return to racing...
Good news for Dylan is that crash would have broken multiple bones for Herlings and ended yet another year for him.
Dylan is available to ride still.
He has a good shot to be 2025 MXGP world champion.

Its crazy guys like ferrandis would be making great money in the GPs but decide to come over and ride deathcross.
I think that is why he said “developing”. Your stats didn’t show anything after 2021 MX.

Come on it’s a much more realistic “what if” scenario for Adam in 2020 who crashed, ruining his bike so he DNFd a moto, then lost the title by 12 points. Just like the 2019 SX series where Dylan was literally handed the title, when one of the most shocking moments in SX history happened. Dylan got very lucky in 2020 SX as well when Forkner crashed out spectacularly at the finale. That’s a lot different than 2019 outdoors where Adam was just straight up better than Dylan from start to finish.
Also, putting up what overall finish in a series someone got when they got hurt and only did a handful of races in that series doesn’t help your case…at all…literally a meaningless stat.
If either rider continues pursuing their SX career, chances of ever being champion in either discipline again are slim. But we will see
