I think we'll be OK but thank you for the concern.

How are you coping, by the way?

On a side note, I hope Byrne is OK. Looked nasty.

It is important as we get closer to the MXDN that the American fans get ready to cope with not winning this prestigious event. It may be devastating to some who have been raised on "You can do it " & "We're gonna kick ass". Second or third should not be seen as devastating. The riders that fly the stars and stripes will need to be congratulated for their efforts no matter what the result is. There should be no mass flaming of your team if they do not stand on top of the podium.

Get yourself ready for any outcome. Sure, get T shirts with "We are #1" printed .. get bumper stickers, #1 Plates ... buy champagne and plan ticker tape parades. But at the same time be ready for the inevitable lower placing than the usual #1.

I am genuinely concerned for y'all and the inflated egos that are going to be brought down to a near manageable size. You guys have been brought up on images of the winning team, the quarterback getting the prom queen, the cavalry riding in to town led by the guy with the shiniest teeth. Second is called " first loser..." Tch tch tch. Start looking into your coping strategies now. It will make it so much easier.

Respect.

There's a meltdown happening right now. It's best to take on board some simple facts that may help some of you cope with an event that is, and circumstances that are not what you are used to. Some people seem to have difficulty grasping the notion that not everything in life and/or in this sport will happen precisely as they want it to ....

Try to accept that the sport of Motocross is bigger than the US of A.

Try to appreciate that the sport is bigger than James.

There is an amazing event happening that we all can't wait to see. ( We being the MX world ... )

The USA has sent a fricken fast team of guys who will do their country proud.

Australia has a fricken fast team of guys who might be able to win if they stay on 2 wheels.

Tim Ferry was Americas last MXDN hero. He kept it upright to help USA win.

The hero before him was RV.

Be proud of your guys. Be proud of your country. Be proud of your sport. Accept. Respect.

Look at the Wes Williams Video. MXDN Preview

THIS IS H U G E !!!!
Just diggin' yourself a deeper hole?? How are you coping now? Did you take some of your own advice? hehe.....sorry , but i just couldn't help it.

From the standpoint that they had a very legitimate shot at standing atop the podium, or at least on one of the sides, I'm betting that the 3 Aussies there felt it was devastating.

Same for Italy, especially considering it was on their home turf.

That paper victory and $0.33 will get you a cup of coffee, and a crappy cup at that, they wont even tell you have a nice day.

Australia sent it's best" American" riders and unfortunately things didn't pan out.

That has to be the dullest thing i've heard today...

Australia sent riders that compete in the AMA, they ain't American... Oh wait if Australia had won, you're the kinda fan who would say they are what they are, because they race in America!

Boy that's a really big hypothetical question. First Australia would have to win?

Props to Chad and the team, good to see them out there every year.

Yes hypothetical... but i saw stuff posted on here from a few Americans just a few days earlier about the Aussies possibly winning the mxdn... and how they are the riders they are today because they ride in the AMA series!

Anyway mr bright spark... can you conclude what that guy said? "Australia sent it's best American riders"? Because i can't! Are the Aussies which rode today split Nationality? If so surely CR would have been on Team USA!!!

It would have been a feel good story for the Aussies to win, but damn you have to feel a little bad for Italy to blow it like that on home soil.

I actually thought the Aussies had probably the strongest team. They always put together a good team though.

Can never go wrong with Reed, Metty and Byrne.

At least Australia beat Estonia, I hear they are the new powerhouse MX.

Then MXdN has been run and won. It is now time for US fans to look at your behaviour before, during and after this prestigious event.

For those of you that kept the faith that the guys representing you would do their best - you were well rewarded. Good form ( great form) and a minimum of F*ups saw your team take advantage of the events that occurred.

Like Chad's outdoor series win ... ya gotta be there at the end .... Amazing parallel; Chad's 2009 outdoor season and the USA MXDN win.

For those that were putting down the event before it started... Wow. This was a huge event. It is the annual Olympics. Did you see the crowd ? How do you feel now ?

For those of you that had a meltdown during the event, look at what happened. Think carefully about how you behaved and try to temper your fears next time. USA was in 6th after the first race but came through. Have faith. Your guys never lost faith. Take a page out of their book.

For those of you that feel great you should. What a great thing to see Dungey and Tedesco at the end of the 3rd race. That's your team ... team USA. Did not matter about the individuals as much as it did the team. Your 'best' were on the sidelines by chance or by choice. The guys that stepped up did you proud.

For Italy and Australia ... shoot. Your guys showed us some great racing. AC (TC?) and CR's race 1 was great to watch. It will be great to see these guys on Australian or US soil. Cairoli will be a name no US fan will forget too soon

For Chad Reed ....... Well done, son. Total respect. You've had a great 2009 so far. More racing soon when some Americans come down here. Bring it on !!

International MX is the winner. The sport that is bigger than an individual, bigger than a country.

Congratulations.

Look at the topic of the thread you created here. And then at the first line of your post above this.

Hello pot, meet kettle.

Have you guys seen the track ?

It's Anaheim 6 with a drizzle of marinara sauce and garlicy bread-sticks.

if America doesn't win on this Italian-themed Supercross track, then we should

soak our wally-heads in vino.

While I don't think we should be there, I'm confident of victory.

And, I'll offer no excuses when we win.

And so, it is written.

" I'm confident of victory."

Thank you, Nostradamus.

Yep, Called it.

Every foreigner owes me wheelbarrows of foreign currency and cases of

nasty beers.

Yep. Called it.

Wow, the guy who started this thread is eating a huge pile of shit about now. He may have jinxed the whole event by being such a huge dick. That is why we race though. You can't win one of these deals on paper.

"Raced MX back in the 80's. Raced Quads in the 90's."

What's the coping strategy for riding a quad?

" Here in cyberspace grown men are arguing over other grown men who ride dirt scooters in circles , apparently the grown men that can ride their dirt scooters in circles the fastest are somehow more manly, or better than the ones who can't go in circles quite as fast?"

GuyB I don't know how you do it buddy(manage this place), I hope at the very least you are earning a healthy paycheck.

I knew I shouldn't have "come out' about the Quad racing .....

The strategy BTW, was to get a Banshee, widen it, lengthen it, set up the standing position to replicate an MX bike as close as possible and out jump the other guys around an Off Rd Stadium track.

Oh ... and put a twist throttle on it ...'cause those thumb throttles are REALLY gay ....
