Tom is doing well, he is showing that despite only a few months of supercross, talent is talent. Most Europeans who have come over have been able to adapt, the only "front runner" in Europe who arguably didn't was an American, i.e Covington.
If Tom can get through SX, I'd expect him to be solid in the Nationals. Top three overall would and should be considered a win, taking the title could be difficult against Hunter and potentially Jeremy. He'll mix it with them and his starts will help.
Not anymore.....this year will be grates for all outdoor rounds as well.
I am not sure if he can win or not, but super impressed with him so far and love that we have another guy capable of being at the front. If everyone stays healthy, that leaves us with about 8 guys that could win races.
I agree, but they have been doing better with last year or so. Hardpack would be great, but gets too dusty which sucks for TV.
I think we hard pack gotta look at the French Italian tracks as good examples. Using elevation to help avoid dust & test riders throttle control.
Whats cool about different tracks is your less likely to see the same winner each week.

Conspiracy theory time: Honda/Jett decided to move up to 450 class for MX when they heard the MX2 World Champ was coming over and they don't want to take the risk of ruining the Lawrence winning image?
I agree on both accounts. Get rid of metal grates. Get rid of the holeshot device. And I will add get rid of starting blocks.
I can't touch the ground without a holeshot device or starting blocks. I have to sit off to one side of the bike.

Vialle decided to come over when he heard Jett was moving up.
Jett caught, passed and gapped Vialle for a couple of big EMX250 wins in 2018.
Farres who is a EMX250 rider came over and got a 6th and a 13th on a track he had never rode on at Budds Creek and on a fairly unknown bike but one of the best bikes...
So I would expect Vialle to be contending for the title / winning the title outdoors.

Fairly sure the other Lawrence will have Vialle covered this year. Vialle will do well, but going against Lawrence, Cooper, and Shimoda is a tall ask.
What happened to Mel?
If you take Jett out, the top 5 last year were Jo, Hunter, Justin, RJ, and Max. Jeremy Martin was injured, Forkner got injured early. Vialle may be an unknown, but his pedigree suggests he will be in the mix. I could see some dropping down to race 250's if elligible, Anstie, Savatgy, maybe some others. There are also some guys who may mature or surprise Stiles, Hammaker, Romano, Swoll, Macadoo, Kitchen, etc. I think the 250 class will be the one to watch.
The 450 class I think is mostly going to be the Tomac and Sexton show with some flashes of speed from the usual suspects, Webb Roczen Anderson Barcia Ferrandis Plessinger, not necessarily in order. I see Jett in that second group, but he is a guy who I think can holeshot and win, whereas some of the other guys, I'm not so sure they can do that anymore

I burnt 3 tanks at Millville in 97 the day after the national. Amateur day is 1,000% rougher. You heard everyone say it at red Bud am day last yr too. Tom should do a local race at the national tracks like Deegan did. Then you hv a much better natl day. A lot of fast guys this yr . Try to stay in the top 5 would be smart . Ride for points.
Aged out of MX2 and EMX and then had a bad crash and lost half of his thumb,in a chain /sprocket.
Still rides for fun and is quick with it.. think he beat RV at Foxhills, and he rode UK AX this winter.
Great rider, and an all round good guy.

He’s doing great for his first year of SX. I’m looking forward to this years 250MX series. It will be the most stacked it’s been in awhile.
