Instead of guessing who’s on a fast lap or showing random guys and not having a clue about how their lap is actually coming along… what is it going to take for the guys in charge to adapt a software that can integrate the segment times in real time and let us fans and the commentators know who’s on a fast lap ?
MotoGP does this with their qualifying and it makes it exciting to watch because the camera is frequently focusing on a guy who is on a “hot lap”.
Who would be the guy who can make the call and pull the trigger on upgrading their qualifying software ?

I doubt they will implement it anytime soon but I wish they would. Or if they just looked at the MotoGP broadcast as a whole as something to aspire to and at least attempt to improve in small steps. Overall the broadcast is not terrible but there is A LOT of room for improvement and it is so frustrating that they refuse to improve the broadcast in even the most simplest ways.
They don’t care to improve because it’s RDL and they know only die hards are watching 3 hrs of qualifying. Plus they know that we are mostly a bunch of dumbasses that openly accept anything because “it’s better than what we had” or so say the tough guys of Vital.
I really don’t see it to be that difficult. Anyone with any situational awareness skills can see when someone is on a heater or setting up to be, follow him and not the guy rolling around mid lap.
For triple crowns can we also getting a column with overall position along with current running order?
We don’t need anymore clutter. The Picture in Picture is bad enough with ~ 40% of the screen wasted.

Yep. We use software to track down the riders on a fast lap. There's some quirks, like last week in Oakland, sector 1 was half of the track and we could only use it to pick up the rider after half a lap. It's improved the number of fast laps we capture, but we're limited by how fast a camera op can find them after the software IDs them. We have 2 camera ops, they're different at each round and one always has more trouble than the other. It's not an easy skill to pick up. Some weeks are easier than others. I'd like to play with AI and see if that can ID them faster, but that wouldn't happen until next season.
Regarding displaying overall position within running order in the session, it's in the works.

You are contradicting yourself by emotionally investing into problems that you continually support. This is an objective fact. There is nothing negative about stating an objective fact. If you think objective facts are pointless then by all means. be the best woke liberal you can possibly be.
FWIW, I appreciate the suggestion. They do the same thing during F1 qualifying, which is how we got the idea. I'd like to utilize graphics like that, but that's a little ways off.
When progress appears glacially slow, it's easy to think we don't care about RDL. The team does care. Suggestions, such as this, are helpful. I wish we could snap our fingers and solve this problem. It involves a number of moving pieces. Some weeks are better than others, but comparing last year to this year, I do think there has been progress. Not enough, but we're not done. Maybe it will be AI, maybe it will be animated track map that shows camera ops where to look, maybe both--there's no budget specifically allocated for solving this problem, but we'll keep trying until we get it right. --Jeff
Focus on the little things. Just getting last lap times (like 54.2, one decimal is enough) into the timing section would help a lot for self analyzing what's goes on since delay and buffer for streaming services makes it impossible to use AMA live timing app since it ruins the results/experience knowing time before it's shown on (big) screen.
Having a small red or green icon next to a rider for setting things like fastest segment or fastest last lap also would help.
