alright, i haven't seen a thread on this yet.
but what the hell, are most homegrown arenacrosses this wild?? I feel like i can win the D class 30+ Beginner here lol. anyhow,
Has anybody here on vital actually raced one of these before??
and if so, howd you do? and would you do it again? or is it just a straight zoo and you never want to participate in such thing again?
AX is big fun if you dig tight, technical tracks. They are most zoo worthy if you are in area that riding hasn't been available for a couple of months and still at least a month out from outdoors being available again. Each local series has its quirks. Some tracks are decent, some are crap. Some organized, some not so much. If there are actually "D" classes and/or +30 Beginner, that tells me there will be lots of classes and you will be there all day for a small amount of riding time. You would most likely get taken out by someone else in those classes than yourself.
Go try it once, you will have a good idea if its for you or not, or if you should look for a better series to attend.
I raced the local arena cross series for a couple of years. Definitely saw some of that stuff from the video. Experienced it too.
Best is the 250c class once round like 5 two guys who always found each other on the track. One had enough and jump off his bike mid moto to tackle the other guy.
Arena cross was like the ocean don't turn your back to it. It can also be fun too.
Thanks op, that was entertaining as hell

That was more entertaining than the last 15 yrs of sx. Anyone count the crashes ? I never saw a AX track watered so hard it had water standing. The filming guy was pretty funny too.
I had no idea an arenacross track was so difficult. I bet most aren’t that tough. I kicked around going to Lufkin, TX a few weeks back, Midsouth arenacross. I wanted to set in the stands to see how difficult, but my brain kicked in and realized soon to be 67 years old was only a dream to race again.
He's no ozzy man when it comes to commentary, but he captures some entertaining footage.
I raced 40+ class in Baltimore about 11 years ago. The whoops are the toughest thing. Second lap of practice I knocked myself cold crashing in the whoops. I came back the next year on a 450 and got 4th or something then raced Hampton and Youngstown and ended up second in the series to qualify for national finals. Went to Vegas and raced the full SX track, once again knocking myself silly in practice. I think I finished 16th but it was cool to race in a stadium.
Practice whoops is my advice. Also, one thing people don’t realize is Supercross tracks are hard as concrete. No give whatsoever. Be careful if you try AX because the danger level is much higher.
I see that is a video from Motorama AX, a once a year event somewhat local to me, which the locals refer to as Crashorama. I have not done it but some of my racing buddies have; they said it was a cool novelty but expensive for very little track time. There also seems to be fist fights/little scraps in the C classes every year for some reason.
