Am I correct in thinking it starts at 4.30pm?

Anyone else going?

I don't know why it's starting earlier than usual, but that's the correct time.

The gate drops at 5pm.

They are probably trying to avoid the spectators leaving the stadium too long after sunset

Not really, the mouth breathers in east Oakland will rob yer ass 24-7. They don't give a shit if it's 12 noon.

I'll be there with my son, my buddy, and his stepson. My other buddy who works at the Coliseum said the main reason it's starting at 4:30 is the amount of vehicles that were broke into and stolen at the lot the last several years, not actual face to face robberies. I've been going to that stadium since I was 12 for random events and have never been or seen a person being robbed. Cars being vandalized or stolen? Everytime. That's why I'm taking Bart. Last year parking was around $40 and the next day my buddy found several scratches (probably from jeans) and a dent on the driver's side and the rear passenger side of his wife's brand new Subaru. I have plenty of stories about that parking lot. The security and people at the gates are in on it too, they just turn a blind eye.

Going with my 3 boys.  Will show up at 10am when the gates open, and will buy tickets at the gate.  There are still a ton of seats available, especially in the upper deck.  Makes you wonder if the attendance will be relatively low, not the best attended race for sure.  Wonder how many more years they come to Oakland?

The 5pm start is kind of weird, but it has been at 5pm in Oakland in prior years too.  I think a few years back it was at 5.

Looks like a pretty good track and the dirt there is usually not bad, seems softer than the other California rounds IMO.

I bought the $15 tickets this year. It makes no sense to buy the expensive ones because of the small attendance. Last year we walked around the stadium and watched each heat race, lcq, and main event from a different spot. Never once were we asked for out tickets. I felt bad buying the cheap tickets, but fuck Feld and I also won't feel like I'm getting raped as bad on food and drinks. You're right this isn't the first time they've started at 5, which I actuall kind of like. But like you said I wonder how many more years they'll be coming back to Oakland. Which is a bummer because they have a lot of space to build a track and the races are always exciting. I wish they would move it back to San Francisco, but I highly doubt that will happen. I haven't been there, but maybe they move it to the Santa Clara 49ers stadium in the next couple years.

I just flew back to SF today after 8 days in Hawaii. Landed today. Perfectly timed to go to Oakland SX, so yeah I’m totally in and will be there full family in tow.

I believe the change in start time was to make it more feasible for viewers in all time zones.  It has nothing to do with Oakland or car break-ins.  The original race was not scheduled to start early.

We raced at Santa Clara one time, attendance wasn't great, but the stadium/press box/ suites were impressive.  Silicon Valley and Moto don't mix I guess.. But we had a hell of a time at the A Loft hotel after the race.

Oh it has everything to do with Oakland.

The only West Coast round that starts, and has started in years previous-without the flooding of the track this year-at 5pm.

There is a reason and it isn't so people on the east coast can enjoy it.

Car break ins? Laughable.

Oakland, California, is among the U.S. cities with the highest homicide rates. There were a total of 102 murders reported in the city in 2020, or 23.3 for every 100,000 people — well above the national homicide rate of 6.5 murders per 100,000.

Im telling you-You don't want to be in this city at midnight with your family.

Stupid question here, but if that's dangerous why does Feld even bother? For years I've noticed those baseball stadiums aren't full other than A1. Their has to be other stadiums in the dead of winter Feld could use besides Oakland, I mean the Raiders even left lol.

I got my car broken into two weeks ago at Newark (Bay Area). I'm planning on taking BART to the stadium. Any advice? I'm new to the area...

I can't believe that they would put a supercross in the asshole of the United States. What a ghetto. Actually the West Coast of the United States has turned into a ghetto.

BART is a good way to go, especially if you're not with many people. The cars will be crowded but wait times are better than traffic. Coliseum parking is about $40 so BART makes less sense if you have a full car. Lyft/Uber is another option - get dropped off and picked up at the BART station east of the Amtrak railroad to avoid traffic.

As for break ins, don't leave anything visible in your car including a phone charger tucked into the console because it looks like there might be a phone in the console. Prowlers look in the windows and smash any window separating them from anything that looks like it could have value. Sorry that happened. Just gotta keep the mice outta the grain.

I'll be there with my 8-year-old daughter. Man, this thread is scary, although this is my fourth time attending and I have never had any problems. One time I had to park across the highway and walk there in the dark with my kid, who was 6 then. I never had an issue, but I believe the stories. I wouldn't take BART myself. I have insurance if someone messes with my Tacoma.

No way I would get on BART in that area....after dark no less.

Crime is out of control everywhere with no repercussions for it anymore.

Every year when the schedule comes out the first thing I do is look for it to come back to Santa Clara.  We went each time they came and it was awesome, very clean stadium and staff was great. Hotel was real nice and close enough for me to wheel back and forth no problem. I'm hoping with the Raiders moving and seems like the A's won't be there much longer that they finally demolish the Oakland stadium. My luck they would just go back to the Giants stadium downtown which is better but the logistics have to be a nightmare for the semi's and pits.

Car break ins are a thing but strangers aren’t getting murdered in the streets in bulk. The murders are mostly inner city ones between people with beef.

Look up homicides in lots of cities and Oakland is pretty on par with what you’ll see. We have huge inner city gun issues everywhere. That being said, most of Oakland is the inner-city…

I'm more wary of drunk fans fighting or too drunk to walk than I am of getting robbed outside the coliseum. Granted I'm not waiting around with expensive camera gear or anything else that looks valuable.
