I've never been to the Wolrd Series, but I look forward to watching it every year.
I've never been to the Daytona 500, but I look forward to watching it every year.
I've never been to the Masters, but I look forward to watching it every year..
Get the point?? You don't have to go to an event to see the importance or lack of importance.
Face the facts, if it was the biggest most important race of the year, it would be on TV, live!
Did you really say "like no other event in the world?" So if this is like no other event in the world, I guess your going this year?? In your mind it gets no bigger than this race, so you must of saved all year to attend this great "like no other event in the world" race right??
Again, who is the main sponsor?? Where are all the gear pics? Where are all the interviews with the riders??? Not much out there this year is there?? Most important, and like no other event in the world, you would think there would be some hype, no?
It was sad to see the diminishing interest a few years back, attributed to preparation for SX season and long MX season....
The resurgence more recently with RC,RV,JBS saying they were proud to represent their country was inspiring and admirable.
I personally would feel being named to the US team would be the highest honor.
There are many points of view as to who should be on the team or not yadda yadda yadda. But I honestly feel that we have the right people who deserve to be on the team based on MX performance this year.
Sure I would have liked to see JBS or RV on the team but they haven't been out there for valid reasons.
I am 100% behind our team.
Go USA
And its a big deal!
It's great that you don't have no interest or plans to ever go, there are enough pessimists in this world and we sure don't need guys like you attending a fantastic event like the MotoD. Guess you can't see from the pics on EVERYBODY having a great time with each other much like the Olympic Games.
You on the otherhand would much rather rub elbows with you're fellow black socked 909'ers and see who has the baddest lifted truck around.
As far as me--I'm not rich but attended and RACED GlenHelen & Unadilla and will be saving my $$ for riding/racing and next yr's MotoD. Now go stew in you're misery....lol

Dude, people have a great time at NAMBLA conventions, they take pics and everyone there is having a great time. Doesn't mean I want to go..
Yes i live in the 909, but I drive a stock f 150.
Ok, so your not going to the greatest event of the year??? The race isn't on TV.. Still don't know who the main sponsor is .....did I already say this once??? If it's such a meaningful race, where the hell is all the hype??? X-Games had a ton of press, and it isn't 1/4 of what this great MXdN race is. Face it dude, there just isn't a big interest in it anymore...
I get you like it!!!
I get you like it!!!
Ok I understand now you judge an event by the marketing PR BS so using you're LOGIC the X games is the most important event for motocross. I got it now.
Face it dude, you are SERIOUSLY outnumbered in this thread--we get you don't like it, so please take you're pessimistic attitude away from here...
Personally YOU and a few others think its a great race.. People on here the Open is a great race, I'm not much of fan of that race either. It makes either of us right or wrong, I don't care for it, you do, why are you argueing with me over it?
Enjoy the race!!! I mean after all you have looked forward to it the whole year and all......My sights are set on Anaheim 1

How do you make that distinction? There's some right crap on TV over here that I wouldn't cross the road to watch. Live TV is a great thing, but it seems a bit of a dubious connection to make that it has to be live on TV to be good.
Luongo's obsession with live TV is one of the reasons that current GP MX is in the shit state it's in, IMHO.
The British team shouldn't have gone, in support of their manager.
The Americans shouldn't have gone - in support of the British.
I know, I'm probably the only one that feels this way, and that's okay.
The Motocross Des nations is and - will be ALWAYS be - HUGE - but
sometimes you have to stand up for what's right . And what's wrong.

And FTE's analyse is (of course) perfect.
On the business & moral sides, MXDN is a f%/#d up deal.
On the sports side, it remains a great Event.

Count me in for a bit of that, too. The des Nations is the biggest race on earth for me, but other issues currently overwhelm it.
A lot of people here think the GP's are a joke, just shows their ignorance really.
But you are wrong there are more than me and a "FEW OTHERS" that care about it, guess you're reading skills aren't much and I NEVER said I "wait all yr" for it.....
just around this time is when the excitement starts but next yr I will be there!
I will agree the over-hyped US Open is a joke. Which proves PR BS is just that BS! lol
I refer back to my original post - it sounds to me as though the US media are not making such a song and dance about it because the US are not sending their 'dream team' this year. Hence the reason you, along with many of others (SX die hards probably) aren't caught up in the buzz.
Don't let what you can and can't watch on TV dictate whether something is important or not, your Nationals aren't even live for christs sake. Maybe you need to be having a serious word with your TV production companies?
what time pst?anyone
Pit Row
I do agree with almost everything you said.. We do not have a high profile rider on the team. Alessi, RV, JS, or Grant I believe would get some media attention had any one of them gone.
I know that just cause something is on live TV doesn't make it great. Thing is, some are claiming this is the most important race of the year. If any of the networks thought it was, someone would of struck a deal to get it on TV, even a week later... Funny how the mx media that you would think would be driving the hype train, isn't. Just a few guys on a message board pimping the race...
The nationals this year were as close to live as you can get. So it's a step in the right direction..
Is the need to see you label on this forum so great? If you've no interest, it stands to reason you've no worthwhile opinion. I think I'm beginning to understand why you get dogs abuse on so many threads.
Egocentric - a word to work into your tag line.........
Why cant MX get it together like other disciplines of motorcycle racing?
I wish this FIM/AMA divide was over, I've been putting up with this crap since '82.

ARE YOU SERIOUS ?
Dungey: Lites Champion
Weimer: 2nd fastest American rider in the lites class
Tedesco: Fastest American rider in the 450 class that you could of chosen
Oh and the event is live....throughout Europe. Like jamma10 said, you don't even get your nationals live so maybe you should be quiet.
Also in the 70's there was a 3 race series held annually in the U.K. , Europe vs USA - awesome! Kenny Roberts , Steve Baker , Pat Hennan and Freddie Spencer etc on 750 2ts!!!
Fast doesn't mean high profile.. There is a difference....I wouldn't call Tedesco the fastest American rider that we could of chosen. Using the bs that you must ride the outdoors to be considered for the MXdN is crap.
I could careless if the nationals are live or not.. I actually missed most of this years nationals because they were semi live. I saw more when they were taped. So you bagging on the nationals being live means jack to me.. If you want to talk to someone who might care what you think about our outdoor season, go email DC.. Oh and the nationals are a weekly event, not a one off race...
And to PlaeBlue, I keep talking about because people keep bringing my name up. I see your new around here, so I'll let you in on how a message board works.... You see people post an opinion, every now and then people will disagree, then it goes back and forth for a few minutes, hours, days, sometimes weeks. It's just the way it works. I had an opinion, some don't agree so we have a conversation about it.. It's pretty much the way all message boards work.. Your welcome....
Or was it the reference to Road Racing as "the money sport" that confused you?
Or maybe the Transatlantic Trophy stuff? Race meetings at Brands Hatch, Mallory Park and Oulton Park on successive weekends around Easter each year.
