I would guess that they are already there. Changing 6 time zones is a bit taxing and takes more than a day or two to adjust to before the race.

Yeah its a bit like racing the GPs, the travelling can be pretty tough. Wink

Yes they are leaving today! Tuesday morning. A friend of mine who works for the AMA and will be traveling with the team was in our shop here in Michigan on Saturday and was filling us in on some of the excitment. Even got a sneak peak at the team pit shirts and jackets. Very cool looking! Sounds like there was some other interesting rumors too, but my mouth is shut on that.

Pretty much!!! lol I heard they booked somewhere around 120 hotel rooms just for Team USA. Each rider has 2 mechanics and of course family, AMA staff and journalist. Its going to be crazy but I think USA has a real chance. These guys are good under pressure and every team except AUS has at least 1 weak link.

They usually link up with other GP teams and work out of one of their rigs.

no wonder it costs so much... it will be just like being in America for the riders still cocooned in their own wee red white and blue world.

Why do Team USA feel they need to bring their own Journalists? Surely they should be independent inorder to be subjective, isn't that what journalists are supposed to be?

I think he meant someone covering for the AMA, not regular journalists.

have you read some of the Us magazine reports on the MXDN?... it's mainly just about the US team and their weekend not really the race itself ... and mostly photos of the AMA riders. not exactly independent.

But of course GuyBs report... we won't even know he is American... he will be so neutral ha ha Tongue

Actually, I'm not going this year. But you can expect a cool Vital MX report from Jeffrey Beerdsen. Jeffrey's cool with keeping things neutral, too. Smile

For '07, as I understood it, most visiting teams had to pay to rent a team semi, from a US team. I heard anywhere from $5-10k for the week, depending on how far it had to travel back and forth to BC.

Whole weekend??
Make that a week, including driving him down to Italy and back to Amsterdam. That's about 1500 miles. I'll think I hate the US by then. Laughing
I'll do my best to keep it neutral though. Wink

Last I checked we are "Americans" I don't want anyone else to win. I'm NOT neutral.

I wonder if TFS is going over there again this year?
He used to bring us some pretty good pre-race detailed info.
Like what kinda cars the American riders rented and all sorts of stuff to make us feel like we were there.
Hopefully Jefro can come through with some super cool stuff!
