Yes, that's what my thoughts were on Tomac...  He simply doesn't do that.  That mistake was uncharacteristic from Tomac.  It shows me how hard he was pushing.

I literally just said to my dad last night that its crazy how few big get offs Tomac has had over his career. When is the last time Tomac has had a big crash like this? He usually just has small tip overs. Was the last one when he broke his shoulders on the honda? I cant remember any big ones since then.

Thankfully he’s ok.

Looked like he was in a hurry to get around Webb. In the last year he has shown just the exact opposite. The blocks did protect him but also where the cause of his crash.

I don’t think they caused it. He jumped clear off the track

Off the top of my head, that’s the most I’ve ever seen someone saved by tuffblox. Two hits perfectly on them. Glad he’s alright.

JMart got rag dolled into some tough blocks a few years ago, but this one is definitely up there!

Yea I dont even remember that one. Its pretty crazy considering how fast and dominant Tomac has been, hes always had that next tier above everybody else speed and those type of guys always have huge crashes, think herlings, js7, carmichael, roczen. Hell even mr consistency ryan dungey had a few big get offs and even the broken neck at the end.

Its absolutely crazy to have someone who can ride at the absolute upper pinnacle of speed in sx/mx and they have not had many crashes in their career. The only other guy like that comes to mind is mcgrath. Everybody else who rode at that level would crash huuuge.

I agree, I was thinking that during this outdoor season when him and sexton were pushing the pace. The way he was riding outdoors has me waiting for the big one but it never came

I just hope this crash doesn’t spook him and he’s able to come back strong next weekend!

That was the type of crash that would have Tomac rethinking about retirement.  Could have been really bad if not for the soft landing. Looked like he hit his head hard enough to get a concussion.

Definitely. The crowd side angle looked like he got super lucky, and he did, but that reverse angle showed just how hard his head smacked into that dirt.

We got a glimpse of the old tomac.  He was pushing too hard on a section that was on the razors edge.  The track was near impossible to pass without a mistake,  the new tomac would have been more patient. That should have ended his career.  Thanks to the tough blocks it didnt.  Still a legend for trying!!!!!

Now the true test will be how Tomac comes back in the next couple of weeks. Will that crash end his urge to push to the front and just make it safely to retirement or will he shrug it off and push even harder to keep the points lead growing? Makes me think of when Dungey had the get off outdoors near the end of his career and he really started to check out after that moment.

How about....

Nothing wrong with poking a little fun....especially when Eli wasn't hurt.

That said and in regards to the crash....man my heart stopped when I saw him get thrown like that.   Was so glad he got back on and finished out.

I agree. The triple crown format is great for us fans but the pressure of a short race puts the racers in a risky “all out” mode. I hope he shakes it off but like others said, this may have him re think retirement…I hope not.

Crazy crash. I was sitting row 3 in that section!  He was trying that table on off for a couple laps before that crash on the inside and was going so freaking fast. We had eyes glued to him when came through and tried the outside line.

The real life speed and violence of that crash was insane!  To walk away and then finish the race is amazing.

Videos definitely don’t do it justice. Real life was way more violent looking. And the cameras definitely didn’t show how fast he was really going. That line he had was unreal!

He posted that he’s all good and ready for next weekend

He made the worlds smallest "mistake" that came with some decent consequences but I don't see all this talk about how he's rattled now. I'm just really impressed that he smacked his head that hard and is totally cool. Bell helmets work well it seems.

Dude when he passed kenny in the sand whoops I thought he was going to break the sound barrier. He way not log the fastest laps in the world but when he wants to, he's got something nobody else has for sure.

I would not go that far.  He has had so many bad crashes in his life.  But make no mistake him pushing and passing on a difficult line that nobody else was taking probably wont happen again.

Glad the beast is healthy. Just shows how fast they are really going and how insane those rhythms are.

Happened right in front of us. Yes super glad to see him get up and finish the race. Holy shit that table to table line looked fast until he hit the tuff block. Luckily he face planted on the next tuff block then cartwheeled and landed on another one. The tuff blocks saved his ass on that one

It was a really bad feeling…watching that crash. Was damn happy and amazed at how he got up and cleared his head…

The dude is a Beast.

He had a good one at a very soft Indy SX in 2018, bike just stuck on landing and he crashed reasonably hard but nothing like last night.

I think he was feeling so superior, like he had to win every race. Like Kenny in '17. Good wake up call since it looks like he is ok both phisically and on the points.

Superior after not winning the first two motos?…

Eli “2 Tuff” Tomac or “2 Tuff” Eli Tomac?  He should get some sponsor coin from Tuff Blocks and wear that as a butt patch.
