Just an opinion question. Should A1 be a triple crown event? Obviously qualifying would be an issue but would it allow the riders to settle in better or just be too much?
Advantages? Disadvantages?
thoughts?
I wouldn’t like it. I’d like to give the privateers a better chance to make the night show, get on tv, sneak into a main it at A-1.
I’ve always thought the triple crown events should have one privateer main in the mix…

I've thought about this before, but I think that I'd just be looking forward to round two for the first true main event...
I'd like round two to be a Triple Crown though! Start with a traditional race, then go straight to something different.

No rounds should be triple crowns. Leave the gimics for off season races.
Not for the first race. Triple Crowns are hectic. Get 1 Main event under their belts. Not 3 in one night. They should definitely make 250 the full season & National Title instead of a Regional Title.
Yeah you’re right 2.5 hours of gate pick jockeying/commercials is much better than every Moto being for points...
None of the Triple Crown races are for points.
They use Olympic scoring and the lowest score after 3 races is awarded 26 points for the championship.
There's still a lot of downtime during the Triple Crown races as well.
I don't mind them, but I wouldn't want the format to be at all 17 races.
Those scores are used to give you points...
the gate pick racing is for gate picks....
Those gate-pick races are to get you to the main event which scores you the same amount of points.
Personally, I prefer the traditional format. The Triple Crown races are shorter, and there's more risk of a DNF, crash, etc. I'm glad it's not used for all 17 rounds.
That said, I still think one of the Triple Crown races should be an East/West Showdown race at one of the speedway tracks.
They should scrap triple crown racing altogether.
I agree, get rid of triple crowns, too many unnecessary starts, too much downtime, and the third race is usually a snoozer.
I think we need(ed) a way to get the stars of the sport out on the track more in races that actually matter.
But the Triple Crown format doesn't do it for me. There's something to be said for the winner take all, main event for all the marbles.
