Ours came in yesterday! Can't wait to pick it up!
Awesome! Congrats. Can’t wait to hear how you like it.
Fuck them.
After my experience of buying a new bike last year. My next bike will be bought over the phone by the dealer with the best price down to the penny's and shipped to me.
Fuck playing games.
Anyone know when Twin Air or somebody will be releasing an airbox cover? I managed to find a couple of Twin Air Pre Oiled filters but everything else is out of stock...

I was told February, they called me after I ordered and said they had the pre oiled filters but the covers will be shipping in February
Maybe he just hasn’t ridden a ton of other bikes, did you possibly consider that scenario?
If you can't get a 19 to turn, it's not the bikes fault...
These guys should ride a 06 YZ450.
Why are you even on this forum still?
Keefer and a few other testers have stated the 23 is a pretty big change for Yamaha and is a different bike from past years. I personally did not like how cramped the cockpit is and the last generating deff took a bit for effort to turn compared to its competition. The new bike has seemed to fix that from what testers have said.
That is funny and very true!!!!! LOL
I would be doing drag racing if I could not get it to turn, the point I am making is 23 definitely turns easier.
Good point. Let’s review our options…
1) he has ridden lots of bikes and feels this way about the current platform: We demand different characteristics out of a bike and I may not be able to use much of what he says to make a decision.
2) he hasn’t ridden many bikes: Maybe he doesn’t have the experience to determine what is or isn’t working with a bike and I may not be able to use much of what he says to make a decision.
My initial comment was really just giving dude a hard time. He’s probably spot on regardless of what I think. Maybe I’m just jealous that he got his bike and I don’t have mine yet lol. Either way, the more info we get about these bikes the better. No feelings were hurt intentionally
I believe that the bike has made some changes. I just can’t really wrap my head around the idea that it could go from one extreme to another. Maybe I’ll hate the new bike 🤷♂️
So many of your posts are you replying to me when I was never talking to you. Why is that?
Keefer said the bike lost some straight-line stability but gained better handling and easier turn in.
I've always found the YZ 4 strokes to take a bit more effort to initiate a turn compared to other brands. Straight line stability has always been excellent though.
To me this new bike will be homerun if they found a good middle point between stability and handling. Plus, they finally slimmed it down and open up the cockpit. Even at 5'10" I find that last gen YZ to be cramped.
I love my new Honda but excited to ride the new yz250f when it comes out.
Trying to help you stop embarrassing yourself on this forum.
Thanks, send me a text or something we can keep working together. This seems promising.
Pit Row
Can anyone comment how the ergos are compared to a KTM? I switched from YZs to a 350, the KTM definitely needed a few things to fit me better at 6'4" (no bike is gonna fit well stock)
Me too (to all of it) and we're the same height. Mind telling me how you've gotten more comfortable? So far I've got a wing seat and just ordered some fastways from a user on here but that's about it. I feel like I'm standing right in front of the handlebars no matter what.
I think the only group of people that may not be totally sure on this new platform are some long-time Yam guys. A lot of people like the stability and the "set it and forget it" way of life that The YZfs have been known for recently. To me, the 20-22 450 and 21-23 250F finally got the cornering balance that I liked. Corners very well but really no downsides in other areas. The new platform seems like it trades off a bit of stability and consistency in a setting, for a sharper corning machine. Most people will probably be happy with the change. I'm sort of on the fence, just on that aspect. Everything else (lower weight, thinner etc) is awesome. I've always shied away from Hondas because I wasn't sure their handling character fit my style and I didn't want to chase a comfortable setting. So it will be interesting to hear what everyone has to say, once they have had the new YZF for a while and raced at different tracks and conditions.
the slight nervous you feel could also be that you added a 50 tooth rear sprocket. This would put your rear axle more forward than stock. Keep in mind Tomac runs his axle all the way back for stability.
Move your handlebar mounts to the front holes.
Don't do it.
Figure out how to ride small and drop your heals as much as possible.
FFS unlock your hips.
Clearly this bike is a good one.... I am intrigued to see what Yamaha does with the 250f.... Each guy that gets on the Star bike(obviously not the same but based off of platform) says the engine is better than they could have imagined. I want to see what Yamaha has up their sleeve for the 250f engine
Start calling every Yamaha shop that's within a distance you would be willing to drive and I bet you find one. a buddy put down a deposit and was 2nd in line to get his and then the dealer sold it out from under him because when it came in they then said he was 3rd on the list (so another month wait) so he called around and found one on the floor and even closer to his house so he went a picked it up the same day. Great looking bike and hopefully he will get to break it in this weekend.
Haha. If you’ve got a long torso and shorter legs it can definitely help
Rode mine last weekend, little background on me. Been on Kawasaki for the past 8 years. Decided to try blue with no change to the 23 kx. Pro rider 34. First impressions of the Yamaha have been positive. The first corner I took I was like holy shit, this thing can turn. You really sit on top of this bike. And it’s extremely easy and effortless to turn. The transition from sitting to standing is is easy. I found myself standing more in turns than I can remember. The stock suspension is decent surprisingly. Decent hold up but you blow through the mid-stroke on bigger hits. As stated above this thing is fun to throw around in the air. Feels like a 250f. As for the motor. Very strong. I will admit I do like the bottom end ground from the kx. This bike is mellow off the bottom. Mid to top rips. Very controlled and puts the power to the ground. 2nd gear is really long and I’m still playing around with when to shift or not. For me 3 gears in corners doesn’t pull hard enough and the bike bogs. But a quick clutch hand can help bring it alive. But with second gear being so long it’s been plenty. Might have to try a 50 on the rear. I messed around with the maps and the keefer connect map is money. I’ve been using that for map 1 and a the hard hitting for map 2 with traction control on low. I will say the seat sucks, it’s skinny and hard. Expect to have some monkey butt. Excited to ride this Saturday. Cheers!
I'm at 2 or 3 out of 4, position 4 being all the way up. I've been meaning to try this out. I'm planning on it in a few days when I do some bike work actually. I had my bars rolled forwards a little as well which makes room but makes the hand positioning very unnatural and is a net negative.
@Sandusky26 If I unlock anymore i'm going to be two pieces. My issue is that I either am wayyyy over the front of the bike with the bars under me, too erect in my positioning, or my weight is too far back to use my legs and it's just "hanging on". Hope that makes sense..
