I vs We

The we thing used to bug me a lot. I wanna say it started with Dungey? It doesn’t bother me now, maybe I’m just used to it. 

I are for the things that went right, like the win, etc. we is for the bad start or moto. Part blame on the managers choice for tire, suspension settings , the gate not dropping fast enough, etc

Win = Gods will

Lose =  Bike setup

Not everyone does the we/I thing the same. But when used correctly it makes sense and is the respectful thing to do. 
 

Look at Forkner’s response below from the front page article. He says the team/we when it comes to how good he was prepared coming into the season, but he says I when it comes to the mistakes made.

"I felt great going into this year and was ready to challenge for the championship,” said Forkner. “I think my qualifying and heat race speed proved that the preparation from the whole team was on par to win races. Unfortunately, I was involved in a racing incident during the start of the Main Event and injured my knee. This is definitely a frustrating situation, but I'm extremely motivated to focus on my recovery and I will get back to work with the team."

Agreed.  Forkners response is good and sounds appreciative a respectful.  When you listen to some, the "we" part is super annoying.  McElrath comes to mind.  I realize he is trying to respectful to his wife, but he uses it when talking about things not related to a Team etc, so it's almost like someone talking in third person.

Would you prefer they start saying they/them/theirs?

Grammar is a tough ask from a bunch of home schooled kids racing and high school grads that run the sport.  They should have PR coaches that help them with this stuff, but looks more like watching youtube of nascar interviews is all they do.

It should be "we" worked hard on the bike set up all day.  "I" got a bad start, but was able to make some key passes and then battle for the win. 

Personally, I don't care about any of that. I was just thinking maybe they should go all inclusive so that it covers all the bases. 

Could you imagine a podium interview like this: 

They (My) Dunlop were hooking up great and they (I) got the holeshot. They (I)  unfortunately made a mistake and lost the lead, but they (I) eventually found their (my) way back around them (competitors) and them (I/we) finished on the podium tonight. 

Them (team) made a couple of changes to the motorcycle that didn't work well for they (me), but theirs (we) will learn from it. 

They (I) will take this lesson and they (I) will work on it this week and come back stronger next weekend. 

I think a lot of people would be like WTF did I just watch.

I never gave a shit and understand what they meant. 

What happens when we get a rider that identifies as a cat? He/she/flea? Then who's fault is it? What if someone in the stands named Jeffey has a laser pointer, and they go off track and try to ride up a wall, or start doing donuts across 2 lanes until they get dizzy and fall over?
