Some people protest by storming the capitol.

Others protest by burning police stations and looting small businesses.

The scary part of the link you shared was the comments - Trudeaux appears to be 10x the dictator that everyone claims DJT was but Canada just shrugs their shoulders and says OK (?)

Edit: Now that I think about it, the comments were so pussy that they've got to be bots posting. It was ridiculously soft.

Seems like the majority do want him to lead the country. (Albeit a thin margin)

I know people want to link this to US politics. But let’s keep this on track and just discussing the current events in Brazil.

I think it is sad and scary that the minority can’t accept defeat. And the losing candidate is calling on the military to support a coup.

Accepting a losing result is the absolute bedrock of democracy.

I am interested to hear from any Brazilians here who could enlighten us as to what is happening from a pure matter of fact and unemotional point of view.

BBC lol. I like those terms they use like “far-right”. Why can’t they just report what is actually going on? But it is BBC…

Even so, what this means is more refugees at the border. I’m sure the current president will welcome them with open arms.

The doctor told the Trumptard he had a severe case of erection rejection but the Trumptard thought he said election rejection and acted accordingly on false information.

In Canada in the last elections the winners did not have the majority vote. Imaginary lines decided the will of the people. Thought the US was the same but maybe not??

I know of one place that everybody keeps saying, “Democracy”, but it’s not a democracy. Never has been.

Not a 'pure' democracy, but a representative republic is definitely a form of democracy........

Always has been.

If it were a Democracy, New York, California, and Chicago would choose the President every election cycle. No thanks.

It’s a Constitutional Republic. Our forefathers were pretty smart guys.

Which President, “Standing up for Democracy” are you quoting? The Electoral College is not Democracy, most of those harping about Democracy want to do away with the Electoral College.

“More than any country in history we've made gains toward a democracy that is enviable throughout the world.” Donald Trump

“She [Hillary Clinton] put her emails on a secret server to cover up her pay-for-play scandals in the State Department. Nothing threatens the integrity of our democracy more than when government officials put their public office up for sale.” Donald Trump

Read the dictionary definition of Democracy and try to say with a straight face that the US does not fit the description.

He’s an idiot.

I see from your profile that you’re from Australia. So I won’t make a smart aleck remark about freshman year civics. Read up about the electoral college. In a Democracy every single vote counts, a few liberal states with high populations, would be dictating to the rest of the nation what to do.

There are many forms of democracy, a representative republic is just one of those variants.

……..and it’s also far from being a “True” form of Democracy. Whilst you think I’m splitting hairs, I see the agenda in promoting and shoving “Democracy” down everybody’s throat.

You may see whatever ‘agenda’ that you want to see, but that doesn’t change long established definitions of government.

What you are describing is”pure democracy” there are other forms of democracy

“We should - we will - welcome people of faith into the political process... It is essential that believers enter the arena. Your involvement in politics helps determine how well our democracy works. We have finally learned that government programs cannot solve our problems. Government can hand out money, but government cannot put hope in our hearts or a sense of purpose in our lives.” George W Bush

“This democracy of ours, which sometimes we've treated so lightly, is more than ever a comfortable cloak, so let us not tear it asunder, for no man knows, once it is destroyed, where or when he will find its protective warmth again.“ Ronald Reagan

Bringing it back to Brazil

Brazil is also a constitutional republic, and it’s sad that many folk can not accept the result of the election.
