Mid September ....

Am I right to assume that if CR had a ride by now we would know ?

If he does not have a team organised yet, being September 14th then MXDN and the first round of Super X has to be off the table. Perhaps he may make a cameo appearance at Super X racing the latter part of the series ...

It is impossible to consider that he would not turn up to the MXDN (SXDN ... ) but wow ...2 weeks to go ? The guy is desperate to put Australia on the box, but with Roger and RD doing their bit for Team USA they might have a dim view of supporting Chad without him committing to staying with Suzuki.

Can Chad put a team together in time ? Realistically ?

I thought his (and Byrne's) Suzuki contracts were extended to after the MXDN...

MC pulled a deal together with Suzuki days before the '97 SX series...if it wasnt for a flat tire in one race he probably would have won the title that year.

Pretty sure Chad's deal covers him until after MXDN. It's his Super X he will need to get a ride together for.

Yeah I wouldn't worry about the MXdN. The Super X thing might be a little up in the air.

I fail to see how he would not ride SuperX.

He has too much money invested in it and if he was not to show it would hurt ticket sales dramatically. Unfortunately there just isnt enough star power in the series just yet too pull big crowds.

Surely one of the Oz factory teams could find a scooter for him to ride if he's not under contract.

He is still under contract with Suzuki till after the Des Nations though.

I wonder how much money Chad has spent to get SuperX going?
Or is he using his name and appearance's as the contribution to the series?
What ever his doing is working from what i can see.
Its the best thing to happen in Oz for a long time, everyone down south is pumped for it to kick off. Bring on the Geelong round!

I believe he's contracted to ride SuperX this year and next. If he dosen't ride he's in breach, but what will happen? Be sued by his partner and/or by himself? There would be a lot of unhappy punters if he didn't ride that's for sure.

If Chad and Burner are contracted to Suzuki and have a secure ride for the MXDN, then it would be good form to keep any announcements about new teams or to be seen riding any other bike until after that event.

It will be a classy and generous act for RD and Suzuki to help Team Australia to the extent that they will need to for the MXDN.

Perhaps there is good form all round ....

Yeah I would be surprised to see anything official until after the MXDN.

There is a HUGE gap between the RMZ450s raced in Australia and the US. How big? Chad has ridden the OZ "factory" version and, after a couple of laps around a practice track, handed it back and pretty much said: "how do you ride that thing....."

Conclusion: Chad won't ride SuperX unless he has the best equipment

Well if thats what his comp has then it shouldn't matter.

He could beat everyone out there on a stocker. (except Bubba)

From what i heard, the handing it back after a couple of laps was because he didn't have the factory spec tyres he is used to on that particular bike and didt feel comfortable on it without them. I could be totally wrong but that info was from a team member of a different manufaturer

Plus they all bring their own suspension, clamps and bits and pieces, so really they are riding a stock engine in comparision to Australia ones with their own factory suspension stuff. With someone of Reeds or Bubba's calibre they would bring a whole bunch of stuff to put on the bike to make it as real as possible to their own bike back home.

You can't be serious. Can I sell you some used tires for $1,000.00, sounds like you'll buy anything.

Why not? Those guys are super sensitive to teh smallest changes on the bike, I'd think tires would be a big one. I got to talk to windham last year, he said he can tell if his tires are more than about half a PSI off than what he prefers. And taht the suspension they use has 16 clicks in one turn...

Yeah, but to not be able to ride more than a couple of laps? - you're kidding me. If the rest of the bike was good, he would have wanted to ride it more & get a better feel of the power, handling & suspension - that can take a while. You do know these guys change tires all the time, depending on surface, I'm sure it's nothing new to not have the perfect tire. He could put that aside to feel out the rest of the package if he wanted.

tyres play a massive part of the package, i have tested a pair of factory tyres and they were unbelievably different in my opinion.

Not a bike example, but this shows how much of a factor tyres can be for an offroad vehicle.

In the mid-90's when Subaru was dominating the WRC with their WRX, they did this interesting test. They took the tyres from the WRC car and put them onto a standard WRX, and took the road car tyres and put them onto the WRC car. Around Subaru's factory rally test track the two vehicles could lap within two seconds of each other.

So all the technology on the WRC car - engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, diffs etc - was about equal to a good set of rally tyres.

I could believe that factory tyres make that much of a difference to a top rider and bike.

Tyre - a rubber covering, typically inflated or surrounding an inflated inner tube, placed round a wheel to form a soft contact with the road.

Tire - 1 become or cause to become in need of rest or sleep. 2 exhaust the patience or interest of. 3 (tire of) become impatient or bored with.

Example - I'm tired of people using "tire" when they should be using "tyre".

Obviously factory tires are better, but not enough for someone to say they can't ride a bike.

Do you think those Hondas in CR's garage have factory tires? Or better yet, when Stewart is doing promo for the new yz 450, do you think he tells Yamaha there's no way he could ride it unless it has factory sneakers?
