I'm looking at getting a new helmet for this year and I'm thinking about the bell moto 9s. Does anyone have one? do you like it? is it comfortable? Right now I have a 6D and i haven't liked it from day one its never been comfortable.

Thanks for your input.

I’m on my second TLD helmet and love it.

Been wearing SE4s for years and recently started wearing the SE5. I’ve had the opportunity to test them “the hard way”.

TLD has protected my noggin and they’re comfy and cool.

The bell 9 flex is very comfy. Haven’t bucked up for a 10 yet

I would try them all on and see what fits the best.  Without any "real data", it seems the 6D likely offers the overall best protection, but the Fly Formula is also really good with TLD and Bell offering MIPS and other solid construction features.  The Alpinestars M10 also is worth a look.  Try them on and see which one works with your head the most.

Not much help as we must have different shaped heads.  I say this because I have a moto 9 and a 6D ATR2 and I personally prefer the fit of the ATR2.  Moto 9's fit is fine for me but just not as comfy as the 6D.  Different head shapes = different opinions on helmet fit/comfort.

I picked up the Moto9 Carbon Flex a few years ago and it is a great helmet. I have a smaller head and the fit is really good for me, but as others have said, try different ones, or even different sizes of the same one to get the best fit. I went down from a large to a medium in the Bell and really like how little it moves on my head during a race when I’m sweating up a storm!

Take this with a grain of salt.

I’ve had a Bell Moto 9 Flex, 6D ATR-2, and Fly Formula recently.  The Bell and Fly were very comfortable, with Fly edging out the Bell slightly.  My head shape did not like the 6D too much, and the liner of the 6D was rough in my opinion compared to the others.  I also felt the Bell and Fly had better construction “feeling” than the 6D.

Try them all on and make your decision based on fit.

I also wear the tld se4 and love it.  Super comfortable for track days or long days on the trail.

I had the Bell 9, great helmet. Now I'm wearing a Fox V3 with MIPS. It's was a little snug until I broke it in,  but it's super comfortable now.

Always been an Aria helmet guy.  Ordered a Fly carbon formula and did not like it.  Just ordered a 6D ATR-2, fits way better.

Went from a moto 9 mips to tld se5 carbon.

Seems to me tld made fit changes from the se4 to the se5. Since i didnt like the se4 as it had a tight spot on my forehead.

Noticed the light weight of the tld.

Lots of good choices for helmets and opinions here.  I run TLD helmets and they are a great fit, airflow, and of course style.

Many good choices.

Just don't run the visor super low like a goon...haha

Fly Formula Carbon is nice. I would go to your dealer and try some on. The Fly might seem tough to get on at first and it is but once you get it on it doesn't move which is nice. Cheek pads are super thick so it makes it kinda hard to slide on at first.

I’ve switched from a shoei evo to a leatt 8.5. The shoei is a very nice helmet but I love the leatt. Super comfy and vents almost to good, and it’s very lite weight. I believe in the leatt safety technology more the the shoei also, but that’s just me.

This is why I bought my Leatt too. Unfortunately, it’s LOUD. I’m looking to replace it.

For the price you can't beat the TLD SE4. I'm on my 4th one

Best to try them on. Personally like the Fly formula. Really light and comfortable. Bell would be second. Just heavier is why I went fly. Shoei was the same. It just felt heavy. Wanted to get a 6D but didn't fit right. Same with TLD and arai. Try them all on. One will stand out. They are all good just depends on what fits best.

Can't speak on the 6d, but my wife and I both have a moto 9s flex helmet. Her and I both love them. We've both crashed fairly hard wearing them and were fine. On the other hand, we switched to bell after I had some big concussions wearing a different brand.

Big fan of the bell's fitment on my head, too.

I have 2 moto 9 flex’s, before that a moto 9 mips.  Bell helmets have been great for me, and the shape of my head.  We just ordered a moto 10 for my son after he has been wearing 6D for the last 4 years.  He has some pretty specific things he didn’t like about the 6D as compared to my moto 9’s.  Hopefully the 10 is worth it.

I really like this helmet. SE4 composite.  Didn't get to ride much this year, only put 10-12 laps on it, never seen the dirt. Going to post it in for sale thread as I'm switching brands due to rider support. L

Arai and Shoei just seem to be behind on rotational tech and other new developments in helmet construction.  No doubt they fit amazingly well, but their protection is 10 years behind.

I love my Alpinestars SM-8. It’s worked great on multiple occasions, is comfortable, and lightweight.

Having a Bell 10 down to the Moto 9 mips and a 6D ATR-2, they all feel good. I think the liner on the 10 feels the best, but the 6D isn't far behind and I think they all are pretty safe. My wife has a TLD4 composite and its nice as well, but I would say go with what is the best tech, comfort and you can afford.

Arai, yes. Not Shoei.  The latest VFX-EVO released several years ago has their version of rotational tech called MEDS. Which is actually very similar to the Spherical tech that Bell just released. Bell just seems to have a larger marketing budget

That's cool and I did not know that.  Then Shoei should for sure be on the short list with a clear benefit being made in Japan.
