uh, ricky lapped the field one moto.   but, nobody was touching herlings this day.  I dont recall how the mxgp went, but i dont think our guys are still as fast as he was.   Id like to know how the laptimes went at bakers factory.  you can really see his speed there.

they both had one good moto and finished about the same off each other on their bad moto.

40 bad ass riders on the gates for both series? That is a bit of a stretch considering MXGP has a tough time getting 30 riders at some races and that is not 30 riders that are "bad ass," but I am just nit picking now.

To be fair the bottom 15 at our Pro Nationals are basically just there to be lapped traffic

That is the dumbest thing I've read all day. New to the sport huh

One of the things that stood out about that video

Bogle sitting in 4th halfway through the moto! 2017 really wasn't THAT long ago!

Wish that dude didn't get injured as much as he has

Excellent video of the race. Completely biased commentary. No one had ever heard of MXGP or Herlings? Americans were completely devastated?

Lol.

We were there that day.

Herlings was unstoppable - on a bike with a different frame & just a few days prep.

There were a lot of mouths hanging open that afternoon.

Didn't tomac beat herrings and cairoli the next week at the mxgp race in Florida?

It's absolutely criminal that we'll never get to see herlings and tomac race a full season against each other.

In the first moto Tomac won, and then Tony and Jeffrey got the better in the 2nd.

An enjoyable video, though I think the whole 'Americans want you to forget this race' thing is a bit cringe and OTT imo. By 2017 the GP riders had well established themselves with (I would guess) most U.S fans as a force to be respected. But yeah - otherwise well paced and professionally put together.

It's just a shame we haven't had more of the top riders racing each other over the yrs. Still irritating to never get the Pichon / Carmichael matchup on an MX track.

That Ironman thing sounds ridiculous in 2023 if you ask me.  Especially when the best rider in the world has proven since that race why he is the best rider in the world. Personally, I don't really give a damn shit about the title of the fastest guy on the planet. Let it go Euros and moving forward because you guys looks like a Ironman maniac who has nothing else to say.

Tomac on a Kawi was a slower rider than he was on Honda and Yamaha it's amazing that he still racked up championships outdoors, just shows how good he is.

Tomac's Honda form or his Yamaha form would have made the race a coin flip today.

Pichon ,s RM250!was a rocket. He battled Everts pretty hard not giving up In a few races.  Pichon vs Ricky would’ve been a good 1. I think RC would win both motos tho. But there would’ve been a battle in the race earlier. RC vs Jeff , Ricky wins both motos and puts a beat down on him.

People pick and chose what they want to remember. Herlings isnt even the best rider in europe now. A great talent, but got to be in it to win it.

That’s a great point honestly. Nobody on either side of the pond ever talks about that race in Russia where Gajser crashed on the first turn and then came back to win comfortably.
