Beaton tested a JM bike and there was an outside shot of something happening at another team, but he didn't want to wait around.

By the way, JM Honda will be van Doninck and Mc Lellan. I believe they are talking about having a second MX2 rider from Japan, just to grease the wheels when it comes to Honda support.
Are all other MXGP spots that are still open are depending on sponsorship from the rider so no option for Beaton, or are there still a couple of spots left that offer a salary, but Beaton picked security over hoping he'd be the one the team would pick?
If Beaton had waited, he may have got a free ride with a team but there are certainly no seats that pay left...
They would never get a huge name in MXGP (even though they are one of the wealthiest teams).
Kinda sad seeing czech team leave but considering the financial burden it is to run MXGP team i keep wondering how they managed to be in this expensive circus for so long. Hopefully it takes only couple of seasons to get one of our teams into the big show. Crossing fingers for Marek on CERMEN KTM team in MX2 in 2025... Maybe.

Benoit Paturel is going to race for Danny De Baets but that is in fact KEMEA 450 with Danny de Baets himself as sponsor, Corpellets (Hans Corvers), Alexandre Kowalski (Yamaha Motor Europe Off-Road Racing Manager), ... They really need to love this kid, to put this kind of money in him!

I saw him ride a lot as a kid, but never took much notice after, but i was impressed with him at the start of the season, he demeanor on the bike and his speed at the same time, he looked like he belonged in the class.
Good to see him get a another shot, we are short of talent here right now.
You're not wrong, there is zero talent coming through in the UK besides Charlie Heyman. Hopefully he can put in a solid year next year and give EMX250 a punt in 2024.

Or it was perceived as bad publicity for the team and their image so they asked him to take it down pronto.

To clear up the Evans thing, every factory rider has one or two spots on their jersey that they can sell to private sponsors.
There is no big story there; he is just trying to sell some of those empty spots!
Herlings said his best year with KTM was over 2 mio a year and he still has had multiple personal sponsorships for years. Same for Coldenhoff, he has been paid very well by Yamaha the last few years but he still has personal sponsorships.
I don't think Evans is making much since he is in a prove it year, but him seeking personal sponsorship doesnt say anything about how good or bad it is in MXGP.
Was the 2mil Herlings got just from KTM or was it including his personal sponsors too?

Old mate is way off. This interview is from about 2 years ago. He said his best earning season was 2018 and it was 4.5million euro. That was before winning the 2021 title.
Yeah, 2 million seemed really low to me.
