I'm not sure why people get upset that they don't like Deagan. I'm not a fan of his for sure but it's not because I hate the kid or the family. Don't cheer for Hunter Lawrence as well but Jett is a cool kid. I'm a fan of the sport not necessarily the rider on any given team.

The kid only catches shit because of who his Dad is and being from a wealthy family. It would be a whole different story if he came from another unknown wealthy family and doing what he is. I would bet at many of these races there are quite a few families with more money than the Deegans. Only difference is that the father is not a moto icon and there kid can't ride the shit out of a dirtbike like lil Deegan. It's a shame he catches so much shit, money doesn't buy what the kid brings to the table or has accomplished.

If Haiden didn't make it, the family would've still had a place to live and be just fine.

At the end of the day the kid rips and deserves the ride he is on. Does it really matter how he got there? There are tons of other kids with rich parents who never made it, you still need the skill.

Is that Ping production? I will pass. You’re right if the have the exact same career Jett deserves more respect due to the struggles his family have faced. I get it.

I would imagine any family that travels to the amateur nationals has to have some sort of money especially these days. Sadly this is a wealthy man's sport that makes 1% of its participants wealthy... At best.

WGAF. We are talking about amateur days? Not worth arguing. Who cares who had the toughest or easiest upbringing.

I disagree it's a wealthy man's sport. At a National level sure, but what amateur sport at the highest level isn't expensive?  Even stick and ball stuff is high at that level with team/league fees etc.  Motorsports?  Check out Karting, dirt oval, drag racing and get back to me.  Moto is not "cheap" at that level, but compared to other motorsports at a local level it's still a great value.

I enjoy watching this family in our sport on there quest for the pinnacle and how far they can achieve! What have they done wrong? They promote our sport and have a great family experience and give us all some great racing to watch, I can’t think of one reason to hate this family, like they said enjoy the ride with us I certainly do.

Pretty sad that there is actual adult men and fathers on here that openly hate on a 16 year old kid for already reaching a level of success they could never reach.

I didn't know MX2 was amateur.

If he didn't perform there, none of the US stuff would've happen for either guys meaning going back to Australia.

I like the Deegan family, and I'm glad they're doing the youtube thing and allowing us to enjoy the ride.

It's awesome that Brian and Marissa are giving their kids the best opportunity to be successful.  What Hailie is doing in Nascar is exciting too.

Haiden is putting in the work.  I get the impression that he isn't taking anything for granted, and that he understands what his parents have given him.

They all seem down to earth.

I hope they all do well.

I'm enjoying the Reed's journey as well.

I see it as good parenting.

it happens in every sport and you were probably guilty of the same jealousy/hate when you were a kid. The rich kid that gets spoon fed with the best equipment, personal coaches, new EVERYTHING....while you're shooting hoops on a bent rim with a bald basketball. No different really. It's not Deegan's fault per se...it's just a natural thing that people sorta hate on the "lucky" kid while they (or their own kids) aren't afforded the same luxuries.

He'll either deliver the stellar career he's been groomed for...or he'll be a bust. Time will tell.

And on top of that

if you grew up racing your dirt bike around the world. You weren’t hurting that much. Sorry, but true.

Hard upbringing would be raising yourself as a child since your parents left you, or working as an early teen to substitute your parents drug addiction, or losing the roof over your head due to foreclosure of parents house, or growing up in and out of shelters.

MX is not the sport to be talking “tough upbringings” and actually, it’s fucking pathetic to do so. Other sports do have guys that grew up like that. Not Moto. Not any motorsport. Motorsports are a rich mans game. Guys in other sports needed that scholarship or they would have lived a life surrounded by crime and violence.

to bring up one rich kids upbringing to use against another rich kids upbringing to try discredit it… pathetic. Give both guys props for what they have done and will continue to do.

I think the term "hate" and "haters" is way overused and dramatized. Most of the flak thrown at them is typical of any star athlete. That's not hate. It's quite normal in all sports, even if I personally wouldn't do it. In NHL Crosby has been a model citizen but there are a lot of fans who don't like him, think he's a crybaby etc. It comes with the territory when you are 1 of the faces of the sport (I love Crosby, btw.) I like Brian and Haiden and I wish him success. But at the same time, I kind of get tired of hearing about "haters" and whatnot. The sooner they get over it and go about their business, the better. It's not going to go away, so I don't know why it's a never-ending topic. There are plenty of fans who support them and want to see them do well. And with that comes fans who don't like them or cheer for someone else to beat them etc. Total non-issue. For what it's worth, I think for the most part Haiden does a great job with how he handles himself. He has been in the spotlight since he was young. And having a "moto-famous" dad with a bit of a checkered reputation doesn't do him any favors. But he seems like a good kid.

I think the biggest issue we have is that our amateur kids are in peoples crosshairs way earlier than most other sports. I agree that with the spotlight comes “haters” and people that dislike you, but the problem I have with it is that with kids like Haiden it starts before they are ever an adult. Haiden has had people talking bad about him since he was like 10 or 11 years old and to me that’s where the issue is. Imagine being that young and knowing thousands or more people don’t like you, root against you and talk shit about you because of the family you were born into.

I wouldn’t see it as an issue if everyone waited until these riders at the very least turned pro, but as an adult to look at these amateur kids under the age of 18 and “hate” on them is pretty pathetic and sad.

I get that but they thrust him into the public eye pushing a Youtube channel when he was a kid. There is good and bad that comes with it, right or wrong. You can't reap the rewards of being well known and then constantly complain about the downsides. Everyone knows that is part of the game  when you are famous or well-known.

I definitely understand that. My main point is grown men 30+ years old hating a literal child is just pathetic and sad regardless of him being thrown into the public eye young or not.

Why are people comparing 2021 - 2022 outdoor and 2022 SX champion (Jett) to a kid that just basically came out of the B class?  Let’s see what the next few years bring and look back at this thread.

I absolutely do. From others kids to my own. Finding them annoying is completely different from shit talking and hating them.
